Would these do well on galvanized pipes that are round vs square?

Yes - these will actually work extremely well with square pipe. With round pipe the flange may not seat correctly being that the head of the insert is flat.

Who makes a mandrel for this? Drill/Impact and bolt not working in particular application.

Is the mandrel too short to set the insert? We recommend a mandrel length of at least 1.75" long. We do sell this size, but not on Amazon.

What size drill bit is suitable for installing these? I'll be increasing the size of various existing holes in my Sprinter van to fit these. Thanks

The recommended work hole diameter is .390 - so a 25/64 drill bit will work.

Is there a 1/4-20 that is shorter than 1"? (Don't have enough clearance on back, but need the strength of 1/4")?
