Even the recordings from the 1930s sound relatively clean. The later recordings from the 1950s sound spectacular. Listen to "I'm A Fool To Want You" on disc 2 with some nice over-ear headphones and the recording quality from 1958 is spectacular, the stereo imaging is otherworldly for an old jazz recording. Overall the recording quality is fairly consistent across tracks and discs. This is honestly a phenomenal collection containing some of Billie's best work across three decades. Couldn't ask for better for $11. 60 tracks across 3 CDs means you have almost every hit except some Verve tracks from the 50s. It's hard to find decent quality recordings from the 40s and especially the 30s, but most songs in this collection have little hissing/static/popping. Maybe not remaster quality, but definitely passable. I like the information and photographs on the inside of the CD sleeve. All the recording dates and record labels for each song are included inside the sleeve. This is a must-have for fans of Billie Holiday and classic jazz.
