OMG, it is Loud and Clear!
I replaced my older LG OLED with a larger LG OLED77C5PUA because IMO LG OLEDs have a fantastic picture. I thought my LG soundbar system with subwoofer and two rear speakers sounded great. I was unlucky that about three months ago my LG subwoofer died, but lucky that it gave me the opportunity to research new soundbars. I was looking at new LG soundbars because of compatibility and Bluetooth connectivity that I knew to work well. I ran across more than one person in some audio forums raving about the sound quality of Samsung for a price point below $1500.00. I conducted more research and liked the look of this Samsung (HWQ990F 11.1.4). Setup with my new LG was plug and play, zero compatibility issues. My iphone connected via bluetooth with zero issues. I mean setup was a snap. The app to adjust the sound is easier than using the remote control. I used CHAT to dial in the settings for my room setup. OMG, this soundbar blows away my old LG soundbar, no comparison, hands down night and day difference. This systems looks great in front of my OLED. I was afraid that the bar would be to tall for the low profile t.v. stand, but that is no problem (I wish I could wall mount, but someone only used 1" X 4" to frame the basement walls). I am not a fan of the remote control, but as said the phone app works best. As far as actually controlling the volume once i adjusted the settings, my LG remote controls the volume with zero issue. The base is deep as in not hollow "trying to sound deep, but more just loud and distorted deep). The rear speakers are amazing and with the Dolby DTS Atmos, blah, blah is awesome. This is as close as one can get to a home movie theater experience for what I consider fairly cheap. I am sure there are sound systems that people swear by and scoff at my silly, entry level, sound system, but I am not willing to spend thousands of dollars on a sound system either. Don't let the haters fool you, this is a premium system. I don't paid for this, I didn't receive anything free, I took the time to write this because I am truly impressed and so happy that i didn't listen to the stories of blue tooth issues with the sub woofer and connectivity between brands, etc.

Yes, it is the best!
I’m writing this review, months after having owned this set up. Like everyone else, I researched sound bar systems obsessively before purchasing one. Many reviews consider the Q990D system to be the GOAT of all sound bar systems. I bought this system at a decent discount. Under $1000. I used it for many months, thinking it sounded very good overall. In that time, I did not have the subwoofer in an optimal position, but it still sounded very good. This year, I bought the Sonos ultimate sound bar combination at great expense. It was over $2000. while discounted. I wanted to compare it to the Samsung. I gave the Sonos Arc ultra a decent amount of testing time. I was telling myself that the vocals might sound more realistic. That system consisted of the arc ultra, two era 300s and their sub 4. The whole thing was obscenely expensive. After listening to it for a while, I reset up the Samsung Q990D System. It actually sounded better than the Sonos system. The surround sound phenomenal on the Samsung just fills the space more convincingly/successfully. With the Sonos system, the ambient noises felt more separated and did not blend well compared to the Samsung. And the woofer with the Samsung was more entertaining and impactful. I was quite surprised. So I returned the Sonos system and went back to using the Q990 D. The other day I decided to turn off the auto calibration function. (SpaceFit Sound Pro). Much to my surprise, this made the system sound even better, improving the positioning and quality of vocals. Weird but true. I also turn on voice enhancement in Advanced Sound Settings. I dont need to use active Voice Amplifier. Now the system sounds essentially perfect, and I am delighted with it. Another thing I like about it is it just pairs with my system automatically every time I turn it on. It gives me an indication of whether Dolby Atmos is on and what the volume level is. The Sonos system did not do that. It failed to pair correctly more often than not, and it gave no indication of volume level. Kind of a serious flaw if you ask me. So in conclusion, I would highly recommend the Samsung Q990 D. It is a lot of bang for the book and will make your movie watching experiences way better. And it’s better than a system that costs more than twice as much. Happy listening!

Absolutely worth it for audiophiles
Fantastic sound quality, and love rewatching my favorite movies in Dolby 5.1 and Atmos. Even though the room setup we have this in isn't perfectly ideal, with the smart sound feature it still sounds great and we can hear everything. My family has been tricked multiple times into thinking door knocks, echoing dialogue, animal growls, and sirens were really happening because of those excellent rear speakers. The bass rumbles the whole living room. Bluetooth is easy to connect. Love the look; the speakers are so visually appealing. Controller leaves some room for improvement. It's tiny and feels cheaply manufactured.
