Autobiography of a Yogi: The Original 1946 Edition plus Bonus Material

Steve Jobs recommended this book, I am 47 pages in, and it already hooked me in. I trust this book will accompany me through my spiritual journey, will do what Steve Jobs did to reread the book every year. Thank you

This book was recommended by several members of an online spiritual group I'm in. We were discussing the spiritual books most influential to us. The people recommending this book are in their 70's and are very well read. So I decided to listen to the audio book. Wow! The first part is like a story from an Indian version of an old boy's magazine. It was another time and the young Yogi had such a wonderful childhood, full of adventure and some sorrow. Bilocation is mentioned in the first five minutes, the yogi tries to run away to the Himalayas as a youngster, there are tiger and snake tamings and the miracles just keep coming, along with adventure and so many gems of spiritual wisdom. I've been stopping to mark some of the important places in the book, but I know I'll wind up buying a hard copy to notate. If you are developing your psychic abilities, it's all here. Telepathy, aportments, precognition, reading people's energy, healings. You will be able to relate the stories to what you are doing and get new insight, the Yogi relates so many entertaining stories from his own experiences and from the teachings of his masters. And for us Westerners, he includes the acts of Christ in his explanations. I am getting so much from this book. The reader has a nice, soft Indian accented English that is clear, understandable and so in keeping with the stories. This book is timeless in its wisdom.

Great read. I read it once years ago and it still speaks the truth!

A spiritual classic—timeless, 10/10. It brought me closer to God. This book has a transformative quality to it. There's a special energy here waiting to be tapped into once you pick it up. Often times while I was reading it I felt a divine presence, I had to stop reading and ponder the thoughts and feelings going through my mind. This book can be life changing to the right person at the right time in their life—"When the student is ready the teacher appears." It's like no other I've read before and it brought me closer to God/Source/Universal Spirit. Definitely to be read more than once. It should be shared with the world. I highlighted too many passages to count. "There's power in this book",—those words came to my mind as I read in chapter 34 Materializing a palace "...Henceforth, my son, I shall come when you need me, and not always when you call me.'" There's guidance in this book if your soul is receptive to receive it. It filled in some gaps that traditional religion left empty. Peaceful vibrations transcend to you, the reader, through it's pages. I often found myself wanting to sit and read it to lose myself in it's words that spoke of a time gone by and yet had so much that could be applied to today. As I approached the end of the book I didn't want it to end, it was a daily escape of sorts. Sometimes I felt by reading it it was a form of escape from my current world. I've gotten more out of it (spiritually) than what I paid for it (materially).

A legendary tale and rightly so. I have not read anything like this before. This is truly an adventure of the mind, heart and soul to read.

I think I’ve purchased 5 and given 4 away. I heard Steve Jobs used to keep 100 copies and give them away. I found it when it stuck out of the library shelf over a decade ago. Then I used to go to the library to read it again. Finally started buying copies on Amazon. A) It is soooo well written I’s say Steinbech & Ayn Rand would love his prose. How did a yogi who grew up in India write better - in my opinion - than many American / English born authors? Crazy. And being someone who has been beyond fortunate to have been visited by Yogi in my dreams and later found and met my “Guru” (teacher) in real life and spent time with him before he transitioned, I’ve always been thirsty for stories from people with similar experiences. I can assure you they are few and far between. This is one. Suspend your imagination and enjoy the read! A lot of wisdom packed into stories that may just bend your mind, or at least leave you wondering: is it true?

I just got the book, and it’s absolutely perfect for me! Everything from the design, paper quality, print, to the size and font is spot on! It feels great in my hands, and the thick white pages make it a pleasure to read. I’ve been meaning to buy this book for about three years, but something always came up. I’m so glad I finally got this edition!

This book will change your life… for the Better! Highly Recommend. It not only changed mine & my husband’s lives, I gave copies to others who felt same after reading. One wasn’t ready, waited 2 yrs to read it, then came back & said “You were right! It changed my life for the Better!” Opens the mind up to what is possible.

Although the content can't be weighed in price, the printed price on the Book is Rs105/- and myself paid Rs 799/-.

I didn't really know what to expect when I bought this book, but am glad I did. There are many fascinating stories about Paramhansa Yogananda and his guru's. There are also many fascinating stories about his guru's guru's. The book also full of stories on other saints, such as Anand Moyi Ma, Giri, Bala, and Mahatma Gandhi. It got a bit long near the end when the author started talking about other saints, but it was still quite interesting.

To born and live in this world in human life and to practice the method, which brings happiness, knowledge about True Self, and GOD is very important. Autobiography of a Yogi based on a true story, how a practitioner seeks for everlasting GOD Essence, and how to be a successful leading peace and harmony with the environment, society and human development. Paramhansa Yogananda describes the worldly, universal secrets and true knowledge in a very simple, even sometimes in a funny way. This wonderful book brings a great Enlightenment reminiscing Love for GOD. Because this is a publication in original form brings joy. I think, in this period of time a Quan Yin method is very like to Krija Yoga of that time.

Guys if you are a keen spiritual seeker read this book or even if you are curious read it but with open mind. I have read some chapters and as a spiritual seeker this is a golden treasure for those that can understand. If you see the 5 star reviews you can see why. I am not here to make you buy it rather writing a review so that you don't get put down because of some inappropriate and misleading 1 star reviews. There are some 1 star reviews which are really inappropriate and one of which bought this as a joke. Serious? A joke! Then why complain about this book if you bought this as a joke. And others complain they don't believe in humans flying? A yogi has potential at higher levels to fly maybe you don't see doesn't mean that doesn't exist. Another complained there was no meditation technique, well because you need initiation into this from a teacher of Kriya Yoga which is specifically written in this book. It is an autobiography so abviously he is talking about his Spiritual journey not there to talk about Indian philosophy ye? Same person also went to insult the Yogi, come on guys just because you not at spiritual level to understand doesnt mean you can insult someone. Apologies for this lengthy review but I felt bad to see those misleading ones and needed to clarify. I wish Amazon had an option to comment on those reviews. If you wish to read please do. Many people have found this in their lives to be an eye opener and would have surely felt as if the matrix was broken to start perceiving the reality. Meditation and yoga are beneficial to all and takes time if one needs to attain higher spiritual. There is mention of many yogi potential which are all true and can be attained once a person reaches toward and attains their spiritual evolution.
