Michael's of Brooklyn Marinara Sauce, 32 oz (Pack of 2)

This tastes homemade. This was an impulse buy in Whole Foods, now it's my go to!

I think you'll agree that when it comes to pasta sauce, taste is in the mouth of the mouth of the the beholder - or something like that. It depends on what you were served for Sunday dinner at Nona's and where you grew up. Personally, I prefer homemade over most bottled sauces. That being said, this is a decent sauce which compares favorably to many well-respected bottled brands. You can taste the quality of the fresh tomatoes, garlic and spices. Personally, This one has good flavor but I prefer my "Sunday gravy" a little thicker and not quite so pricy.

I am half Italian. So having had an Italian-American mother I think that qualifies me to write a review of Michael’s Brooklyn marinara sauce. Simply put it tastes pretty darn close to homemade. In fact it’s better than some Italian restaurants I have been to lately. And it leaves other bottled sauces in the also ran category. It tastes fresh not overly sweet and conservative use of spices and oil. Good to keep in the pantry for those cold winter nights! So it’s a bit expensive but worth it. You can also add sausages, meatballs, mushrooms etc as you wish. Give it a try. H

Best sauce ever. I’m giving it 4 stars because 9 times out of 10 my shipment broke in transit because it wasn’t packaged well. My local Meijer has this so I just buy from there now.

I found this sauce in Philly at Reading Terminal! It caught my eye and I liked the fresh ingredients. I was making a tortellini casserole that called for 32 ounces of sauce and I gave Michael’s a try. The casserole was a hit! I liked that it was on the sweet side compared to other sauces I’ve tried, and I liked the consistency. I don’t understand why other reviewers say it is sour, but we all have different taste buds. Yes, it’s a bit pricey and hard to find, but the other sauces that I use on the fly are pricey as well. You get what you pay for. I’m sorry it wasn’t a hit with others, but this is now my go to sauce!

The best marinara sauce, I used to make my own but this is so much better. I will sometimes add a little chicken stock and make a tomato soup that is delicious.

This sauce isn't fancy but it tastes so fresh and non processed unlike other jar sauces. I gladly pay the price for this when I don't feel like making it from scratch.

I've had worse, and the price is fairly reasonable by todays standards, but I can't say I enjoyed it. Very little flavor, and the tomato base is a bit sour. I certainly won't be ordering this again.
