Great for the right job
There are no other 6tb usb c bus powered portable drives on the market. So whadayagunnado!? I’ve used these for years. The 5tb before it. For dumb cold storage they are completely fine. I recycle them after a few years and use a mirrored pair to store all my backups. Absolutely criminal that the prices are completely out of control since RAMageddon has come for all storage media now. These were £125 for a time. Take me back!!!

More space than I will ever need
Enormous size for a decent price. Its a good looking compact external HD that connects via usb c and does not require a separate power connection. No issues with the speed, though I have to admit I was looking for an external SSD. My fault entirely, and I am still happy with this product.

Very Good and Plenty of Storage Space.
Very Good after many months it still works as it should. I have many thousands of photo shots and video clips stored and easy to retrieve. Can't Knock It!

Ignore the supplied software!
Great little disk, good value for a 6 TB unit. The reason I've docked a star is because of the software which comes packaged with the disk. It is very much not 'plug and play'! On first connection, It wants to you to download and install their proprietary back up programmes and security system. After a frustrating half-hour spent trying to make sense of them and repeatedly being told that I wasn't authorised to access my own Macbook folders, I binned the whole lot, then simply connected it as a USB backup hard drive, which is what I wanted in the first place!

Great capacity
Perfect for doing your own backups if, like me, you don’t want to rely on cloud storage. Like all small disk drives, the throughput drops from over 100MB per second to about half that speed as you fill up the disk. Note this drive has a USB C connection, so it is future proofed.

Good HDD - Speeds as expected
Speeds ok for a HDD. I like that its powered off the USBC connector. The price per GB is pretty good. Clearly its not going to be near SSD M2 speeds, but for movies and video storage its works.

Great quality portable drive but slower than expected.
I’ve used WD drives for many years and they have always been reliable. This one is the best quality portable drive I have owned so far, and it is working great so far. My only gripe is that I was hoping for faster speeds. I tested it on two different PCs I built this year, both with fully updated drivers, an MSI MPG EDGE B760I and an ASUS ROG STRIX B760G, and both have USB C 3.2 Gen 2 ports. I am only getting an average transfer speed of 100 MB per second on both systems. There are faster portable SSD drives on the market, but this HDD cost me close to $300 AUD, so you would expect better speeds in 2025 for this price than what I was getting from HDD drives I purchased years ago. Also note that there is only around 5.45TB available on the drive, not 6TB. This is the case with any drive as we always lose some storage….but 550GB of storage lost?? Just give us 6.5TB so we have the full 6TB…
