I love this pool heater, also their customer service is very helpful I had an issue with the delivery and one component came in broken and they replaced it right away. The pool heater works great it kept my pool at 80*all summer long.

100% recommend! I was going to return this as I felt it was an extravagance. But changed my mind. I am so glad I did. My pool has never been more comfortable! So easy to set up. Love this!!

I use on a 1900-gallon 14 X 8-foot oval pool. This 14,000 BTU unit works fine just north of Chicago for middle May to middle September. It just makes it. I would not use on a pool larger unless you live quite a bit south of Chicago with a longer summer season. Once the water is up to temperature (85 F) in my case the heater does not run a much. It comes on to maintain temperature, but the water does not lose temperature very fast unless it turns cold ambient. Adds $ 20.00 - $ 30.00 to electric bill per month. There is a water flow E06 error code that keeps coming up which I thought was a defective unit. But the E06 code goes away automatically when you change your pool filter and restart the filter pump. This a heat pump uses a lot less electricity than other means of direct electric, or natural gas. The first time starting up in mid-May took about 3 days to get pool water up to 80 F. After that it maintains well. I have a problem with cottonwood trees in my area and the coils needed vacuuming twice in two weeks to keep air flow on the heat pump. I keep the pool at 86 F for the kids and myself. Nice temperature and we stay in 2 -3 hours when swimming, playing and relaxing. The water depth is about 36". Any higher a lot of water splashes out. So get a taller pool if you think you need deeper pool, but will need higher BTU heat pump for that.

June 2025 update: just set up the heater and it’s working great. We now bumped up our pool to a 14’ x 42” that’s about 3400 gallons. This heater still going strong. It does take some time to heat up and it won’t heat up the pool if the temp drops below 60 at night. It’s definitely best for warmer weather months. I paid $759 for this and now I see it’s for sale for 530$ with and additional 20 pct off that. Definitely worth that price. I would buy this again. ———original review——— I bought the EU50 heater for my 12' x 30" Intex pool. When I received the unit it didnt turn on. Reached out to customer service and they said it was due to a faulty plug which they promptly sent. All in all I had to wait about 4 days for the plug. It was easy to replace and the unit works well now. We are in NY and its late August. Temps are barely hitting 80 anymore and its in the 60s at nite. The unit easily heats up this little pool but will take up to 10 hours to bring it from 78 to 90. A few things to note and the reason why Im not giving this 5 stars: 1) The faulty Plug of course. 2) The unit shows the temperature of the water flowing through the unit which appears to always be 3-4 degrees warmer than the pool temp. So when setting a target temp, I set the target to 94 and it reaches 91. 2) The unit only runs if the pump is running. So, expect to run your filter all day long and all night long in certain cases. We have a small pump that puts 530 gph. Next year we plan to buy a bigger pool (15' x 42") and I expect this until to work just as well. The bigger pool comes with a bigger filter (1k gph). The unit is rated to handle this size pool as well as a 1k GPH filter but I will keep the 530 GPH filter around in case I need to run the water through the heater slower. One last thing to note. The unit is very easy to setup. It plugs into a normal outdoor GFI outlet. I only needed to buy one additional hose to attach the unit to the pool and existing filter. It works with the same size hoses that came with my Intex pool. I purchased an extra hose at a local Pool supply store for 20$. All in all Im very happy with this heater and I have basically stopped using my solar cover (blue thing with the bubbles). Make sure you do have a cover to keep the heat in while heating. I use a black cover with silver lining on the inside. I think its considered a solar cover but it secures around the entire edge of the pool so its not a floating cover.

The customer service for the product is unavailable because the company went out of business. There is no way to get phone support from Amazon, all options are dead ends. The user manual doesn’t adequately help for either WiFi connection or to set up the heater manually. The set up instruction for both WiFi and the heater are confusing and neither can be followed. There is no option to return the product on the Amazon website either.

The ECOPOOLTECH Swimming Pool Heat Pump for above-ground pools has exceeded our expectations. It heats the pool efficiently, is easy to install and operate, and has performed reliably. We've been very pleased with its performance and would recommend it to anyone looking for an effective and energy-efficient way to keep their pool at a comfortable temperature.

We live in Pittsburgh Pa and it takes time to warm the water in the pool. It can be swimming weather, but if the water isnt warm you dont want to go. I purchased the heat pump to help with the water temperature. We started with the water at 72 and in one day warmed it to 79. The next day it was 84. The heat pump does work very well. I am very pleased with it.

Although unit is pricy it works beyond what I hoped for . I was not sure it was working although it was running . Followed setup instructions , but temp was not changing. One needs to know it is a 4500 gal .pool that was just filled from a hose. Water was about 58deg. Now air temp and sun was helping. It was Mid April in Ill. To make a long story short , this heater slowly brought temp to 86DEG. in 3 days going 24HR. a day. and did not change until it shut down when the air temp reached into the Nineties. I just whish it could cool water also! Easy to install, and Quiet operation. If nights are cool use a solar cover at night, works very well.

My pool is exactly 5,000 gallons. Have had this running for 4 days and can not get the water over 73 degrees. Fan is running, unit is making noise but the water coming out of the heater is same temp as going into heater. I think this heater should be rated for a 5 gallon pail not 5,000 gallons. Update : it’s been 5 days. Got the water up to 78 degrees. Temp is set at 85. Now the unit just shuts down. No codes, no reason. Re start it and it turns back on for 30 seconds and just shuts off. So now I’ve spent an astronomical amount for 5 days of electricity running this for 24 hours a day. Nights here drop crazy temp. By the time I return this and start over my pool will be back to 60 degrees. Just great.

This is an initial review based on having the heat pump up and running just one day. Heat pump came well packaged and in great condition. Pool water was delivered Jun 8th around noon and the water delivered was 53°F according to thermometer in the pool. We switched on the filter/pump and heat pump around 2:00pm. Nothing happened, but hubby realized we had to hit the reset button on the plug end. We used a heavy duty, outdoor power cord. Based on some reviews, I was concerned that we could have issues when turned on but once we hit the reset button, everything came on fine and setting the desired temperature was easy to do (instruction book is easy to follow). Pool temperature rose slowly over the next few hours, a few degrees per hour. By 7:00pm the temperature showing on the thermometer in the pool, as well as the heat pump, was 62°F. This was an increase of 9°F over 5 hours. The day was pretty warm for early June here, around 20°F. The evening and overnight was cold again and only 10°F this morning around 8:00am so the night was no higher than that and probably cooler. Water temperature on the heat pump this morning was showing still 62°F, so no increase in temperature over night, but this was expected since it was cold last night. Of course, the fact that the water didn't lose temperature overnight was a good sign. Because of our cool nights, even in summer, we'll be running the heat pump constantly. I'm hoping that the heat pump will continue to increase the pool temperature during the day and hold that temperature each night. We have our bubble solar cover on the pool to contain heat and it stays on when we're not in the pool. Heat pump is set about 5 feet from our pool, under our back steps. We have a rubber pad on our steps over the heat pump to protect it somewhat from rain (because we've read comments about rust). Pool is 12' round by 3.77', which is about 3000 gallons. Filter/pump is 1000gal/hour, which is the minimum required for this heat pump. Any less than 1000 and you'll get an error. I'm hoping that over the next few days, temperature will continue to increase. We've set the temperature to 89°F as one comment here suggested to set it 3 degrees higher than desired temperature. Last year, with no heater, just a long 30' black hose, highest temperature was 79°F (not high enough for my liking but I swam anyway). Hoping for 84-86 this year. Will check back here and update in a week or so and may change the number of stars at that point also. June 11: Pool is 80°F. Went from 53 to 80 in just three days with pool cover always on. I am very happy with this heater. June 13/25: Pool hit 87°F today according to the heat pump but my in pool thermometer said 89F. and I jumped in after work. 89 is way too warm so I had to turn the unit down from 89 to 85 (again, someone here recommended setting the unit 3 degrees above what you want but I find that the heater brings the pool to the temp I set). It was pretty cold last night and so the pool was at 80 this morning but felt warmer. If an 85 setting can keep it to 82-84 during the day that would be perfect. Tweaking as I go to get the right temperature. Again, so incredibly impressed with this heater. Way beyond what I hoped for reading some of these negative comments. Keep in mind, I live in a cool windy part of Nova Scotia, and nights are cool even in the summer so I'm very happy with this purchase. Heater does stop when it reaches set temp and comes back on when that temp drops 1-2 degrees below set. Maintains the pool during the day at my set temp. August 23/25: Had the heater running all summer. On sunny days, the heater kept the pool at 86. I've had warm water all summer and this heater is the best thing I've bought from the pool. Highly recommended for a small pool 8' round - 12' round. Might even be fine for 15' round. Great heater. Love it. September 10/25: Had my last swim of the season, a night swim. Pool was 80F but felt warmer as it was cool and windy. The nights are getting cold now (10C) so the pool loses a lot of heat at night and the air doesn't get really warm until noon, on good days. The heater can only bring it up to 78-80F. Too cool for me, really but because I'm concerned about the cold night air on the pool material, we're taking it down Sept 13. Conclusion: Best think I've purchased for the pool since I bought the pool. Really allowed me to go from swimming 1.5 months the past few years to 3 months this year and because the pool stayed around 86 every day (lowest on cloudy or raining days was 82-84) I could actually swim any day I felt like it. I ended up swimming 2-4 times a week all summer. Really thrilled with this heater. It really exceeded my expectations.

My unit was broken but sellers offers a 2 year warranty. When I contacted the seller they just stopped responding all together leaving me with an unusable, expensive unit.

Excellent product. I have been looking for an above ground pool heater for 2 yrs now and finally decided to get this one. We have a circle Coleman 18 dia above ground pool and never really enjoyed it as the water is always cold no matter how hot it gets. We're in Ontario Canada. Finally got this in May 2025. What I noticed is if the outside temp is low the water is cold but if its hot then the water temp warms up too. Just for a reference if you think you can still use your pool in fall. Although it takes days to warm up the pool and again as long as the temp outside is hot too. Anyways we starred with a temp of 64 in May with the crazy cold weather since then and now in June that its finally warming up- I set the temp to 91 and now its at 86 - yesterday at 87 and what a big difference. My boys and I love it and almost in the pool everyday enjoying the warm water. We got a E06 error code and realized its just a say of it saying we need to change the filter as every time we got this error all we have to do is change the filter. We used to change filter every 2 weeks now its almost every week. Otherwise we get the error. So far no other issues. I totally recommend, great investment ever! Now we are enjoying the pool everyday.
