The color transitions are vibrant and glossy, and the silk finish gives prints a premium, eye-catching look straight off the printer. The filament is well packaged and clearly labeled, and we’ve found it to print smooth and clean with good layer adhesion and consistent extrusion. It performs well on standard PLA profiles with minimal tuning and delivers reliable results, even on more decorative models where appearance matters most. That said, there are a few downsides: The price per 1 kg roll is quite high, which makes it harder to justify for large production runs. It goes out of stock frequently, and maintaining par levels can be challenging—both through Amazon supply and when sourcing directly from the manufacturer. Sales and discounts are rare, and it almost never drops in price. Despite these limitations, this filament really shines for specialty and seasonal prints. We don’t use it for everyday production due to cost and availability, but for holiday décor, gifts, and festive prints, it’s a standout option. Overall, we really like this filament and will continue to use it—especially when we want that distinctive Christmas candy cane aesthetic that turns heads.

This filament looks amazing when printed. The blue and green color change gives the finished prints a shiny, eye-catching appearance. I have used it for several prints and have not had any problems with the quality, feeding, or consistency. Overall, it prints smoothly and produces great-looking results.

This filament definitely has a higher cost than other silk single or multi color-changing PLA, but we have found the increased cost to be justified by fantastic value and quality. The attention to detail we have appreciated: including a resealable storage bag, proper winding of the spools for problem free feeding, plastic spool (controversial, but we prefer it), accurate diameter for amazing outer surfaces, and overall nice packaging. This isn't a full review. We just wanted to point out some interesting things about the dual sided filament. Unlike filament that changes colors either gradually or rapidly, the two colors remain the same throughout the entire roll. The gradient effects seem to be based on the direction of travel of the nozzle. The samples in the photo and video were printed on the FLSun V400 delta style printer, but that shouldn't really matter in this case. One thing we've learned is to rotate your print in your slicer to orient your gradient where you want it. There is a center line where the majority color begins to transition to the other color, so you can get creative with orientation for very interesting gradients. If you noticed poor overhang on the bottom of the oinkarinas, that was due to printing too fast, as well as one of the two cooling fans was inoperable. We will be using AMOLEN for decorative/visual prints in the future if these qualities are consistent.

Kingfisher Rainbow is one of my all-time favorite filaments. I am a repeat purchaser of it and have yet to have issues with it. It comes vacuum sealed and always prints evenly and beautifully with zero clogging or brittleness, even right out of the package with no drying time. As a silk filament, it can be a little more fragile if used for the wrong prints, but it has held up well in the items I have used it for. I haven't had adhesion problems with it. The beauty and dimension it gives to prints really justifies the cost so overall this filament is a great value.

I picked up this 1.75mm shiny multicolor rainbow silk PLA filament from AMOLEN for 3D printing, and it works good with no problems. The filament feeds smoothly through the extruder without jamming or nozzle clogs, and the layers adhere cleanly throughout the print. The shiny silk finish gives finished pieces a great glossy look, and the rainbow color shifts create an eye-catching transition on larger models. Dialing in your print temperature and speed helps keep stringing to a minimum, and I hold back five stars because there is always room for improvement in color change frequency and spool winding consistency, but for creative decorative prints, it does its job well.

I love this color and this brand and have ordered multiple times, but this last spool has had multiple issues with breaks in the filament...not sure if quality control is becoming an issue or just my luck.

Bel effet de couleur sur ce filament. Bien faire la tour de température et de retraction sur celui ci car pas évident de bien le régler mais une fois fait c'est parfait !
