Worth. Every. Penny!!
I’m a professional cook, and I’ve used a lot of knives in my career. This is definitely in the top 5 I’ve ever used, and I couldn’t be happier with it. Amazing packaging, incredibly sharp, and an absolutely beautiful look. 👍🏼

Beautiful but doesn't perform well. Overpriced
Update: I've done a lot of learning since I first tried this knife. It was so beautiful it got me started! However, the deeper I got into knives I realize how bad of a deal this knife actually is even for the low price I actually originally paid for it! I quickly found that the relative Chinese companies that don't focus on marketing and presentation so much that I actually produce a similar knife with similar or better still for a fraction of the price. I tried them all. And yes I found $50 Chinese knives that blow the performance of this knife out of the water. This knife is gorgeous to look at but it it's geometry just does not cut well. I try to compare to several of the knives and it was the less pleasurable to slice things with despite being razor sharp and cutting paper, it appears to wedge and vegetables more than any other knife I tried. Then I realized the steel being used is not as nice as your average Chinese knockoff. It's an oversized knife too, it has impractical features that look cool provide no function such as the jagged areas on top and the shape of the play will never fit into a knife block. But it sure looks cool out of the box! For the same price you can get something from Miyabi, Shun or Tojiro(even less on sale) with her far superior in every way. If you check with the right sources you can even an actual handcrafted knife from a small shop in japan. The more I learn, the more I realize these or items marketed to take advantage of people that don't know what they're looking at. I will give the company credit for being more Upfront for what they are, some of the knockoff don't tell you anything about what they're made from. Will this knife look good on your well? Oh yes, and it will allow people who don't know what they're looking at but any serious knife person would laugh. Yes I went from this to trying various cool looking Mass produce knives, it's kind of like collecting counterfeit sports cards for a fake autograph Sports Jersey. It may look nice on your wall but it has no long-term value. That being said, it is a gorgeous knife and it will cut, and if this is what you want, go ahead and get it. Just be aware that you're spending a lot of money for presentation, marketing and packaging.! Original review: I want to love it so much. It just doesn't perform well. This is despite clearly feelig sharp. I can cut paper and all that, but side by side with my 25 year old Zwilling Professional S that has never been sharpened nor was it well taken care of, there's absolutely no comparison when cutting tomatoes onions, anything. Now it cuts paper better, but I'm not using a chef's knife to cut paper. It just does not function well for its purpose. I keep going back to it and trying it again and the results are always the same. Perhaps I got a bad one. I want to love it! But it disappoints even next to a Shan Zu at 1/3 the price. I have to wonder if all the attention has been put on to looks in packaging. For this price I can get a brand new Swilling S. I have to think that these knives are all about the bling.

Looks nice thats about it
Um so it looks very nice. I’ve bought other knives from dalstrong from the same Valhalla series but this one arrived with a bad scratch on the blade and it is so unbelievably dull. It won’t even cut an onion.

Beautiful Knife For Home Use Only!!
So happy with the look and style of the knife, but I would not recommend for restaurant work. The handle is beautiful but slick and the grip is not that great if you’re using it long hours a day. At home use only!

Not worth it.
It is a shame how much Dalstrong spent on the packaging, casing and other stuff, that you don’t need and not on the knife itself. Handle look very cheap. They have to finish it ( sand the wooden part and polish it), otherwise it looks unfinished. Price wise-$45 is its limit. Disappointed. Returned.

Another awesome dalstrong knife or so I thought …
Great knife. Came super sharp just like every knife I’ve got from dalstrong . It’s very light , but balanced well . It also looks super cool …. This knife was great for the first year of owning it , great edge retention and very comfortable to use. Unfortunately the handle on this knife is poorly made. It has slowely gotten worse and worse to the point where the handle is completely cracked and I have it held together with tape which has ruined the look and comfort of the knife . This is really dissapointing as it was my favourite knife for the first several months and has just completely fallen apart. I take good care of my knives and I have several others from dalstrong that I use daily and if not weekly . Unfortunately there is no reason for this to have happened and it makes me concerned about buying any future knives from dalstrong. I can’t afford to pay 200$ for a knife in which the handle will deteriorate so quickly . Overall , the blade is still sharp , and it’s an amazing knife , but the durability of the handle has to be considered when purchasing. Originally I was super impressed and this was the most beautiful knife I’ve ever owned , now it looks horrible and has lost its balance due to the tape I applied to hold it all together . I’d recommend going for something less beautiful and more built for the purpose of being used as a chef knife , this maybe should have been a decorative piece for my wall or something . I’m also now concerned about the overall durability and longevity of my other dalstrong knives, although so far they have been great and I have not had any issues yet .
