What size is this ferro rod?

This ferro rod measures 4 inches long and 3/8 inch in diameter. It weighs 2.5oz, making it substantial enough for a comfortable grip while still compact enough for pocket carry or attachment to any backpack.

Is this easy to use for a beginner?

Yes, this ferro rod fire starter is designed for beginners and experienced users alike. Srape the protective coating, angle the rod at 45 degrees against your tinder, and strike firmly with the included steel striker.

Does this work in the rain?

Absolutely. Unlike matches and butane lighters, ferrocerium rods produce sparks exceeding 3,000º C (5,400°F) regardless of weather conditions. The sparks are hot enough to ignite damp tinder.

How long will this last?

This ferro rod is rated for 15,000+ strikes. For a typical camper using the rod to start one campfire per trip and averaging 5–10 strikes per fire, that translates to thousands of camping trips.

Is this a good gift for someone who camps?

Ferro rods make excellent practical gifts for campers, hikers, hunters, and anyone who values outdoor preparedness. This kit arrives with the rod, striker, and paracord lanyard ready to use. It is compact enough to add to any stocking or gift set.
