Worked as it should

- Painted, not hot dip galvanized. - Zinc plated hardware, not hot dip galvanized. - Back plates are thinner than my existing equivalent brackets. - Enclosed nuts and bolts were different sizes (incompatible) I'm a competent DIYer, so this is not my first rodeo with brackets, hinges, or hardware. My dad and I found ourselves doing some emergency dock repair this week. We had a section that broke and decided to rebuild it with a hinge. None of the stores near us carry dock parts so I suggested Amazon in order to get the hinges quickly. I needed to wrap this up and get home. Fast forward 24 hours, and I have the hinges.... We're standing waist deep in water. We drilled the holes. We go to put the included bolts in, and the nut won't go on. I thought maybe it was a bad bolt so I tried another one. Then I tried another nut. Long story short, the nuts included are 3/8 -16 which is what I would expect. They fit perfectly on some of our existing 3/8 carriage bolts. Holding the included bolts up next to some existing 3/8 carriage bolts, the threads do not line up. I think they sent metric bolts with SAE nuts. In any case, we only had three 3/8 in carriage bolts remaining so we managed to partially install one half of one hinge and then had to clamp everything else together for the night until we could run to the hardware store the next day. (Because the prior day we confidently bought fewer bolts because these hinges were supposed to include hardware.) It's also worth noting that the hole spacing does not match what we've got on some of our other plates and brackets that were purchased over the years (name brand probably from Overtons). This is only relevant if you were going to use an angle bracket on one side and the hinge on the other. And before someone suggests that different brands are going to be different sizes, I will add that we have a lot of brackets purchased at different points in time with holes that line up. So where am I at on these? - I believe they WILL work. They will not be as durable long term as hot dip galvanized. Hole spacing is not standard. - The included hardware is garbage. Plan to go buy 3/8-16 hot dipped galvanized hardware if you ever want to get the bolts back apart in a few years. If the included nuts and bolts actually screwed together, I would give this set three stars. Not 4 and certainly not 5. However given that they can't even provide hardware that is compatible with itself, I'm giving this a one-star rating. I really appreciate it being able to get the hinges overnight, but somebody blew it and wasted my time. I included some pictures showing an existing dock hinge we had compared to the new ones. Another picture shows the differences in whole alignment with a hinge and a corner bracket.

These are great , easy to install , look great .

These units fit together very well. Measurements don’t need to be exact. I used lag bolts to secure the hinges.
