As good as the $400 board I usually play.
2 things: Crokinole is an amazing game. This is a fantastic crokinole board. After playing for months at a brewery my wife and buddies go to, a few of us decided to get our own crokinole boards. I read all of the reviews on this, and I was a little concerned. I don't know if they got their quality control together or what, but the build is exceptional. A few of my friends got boards 5x the price of this, and this is as good - albeit maybe not as fancy-looking. A few things to note that I couldn't get clear info on other reviews, the laminate play surface is a high-end-looking vinyl laminate, not actual wood grains. It still looks extremely nice, but might not wax up the same way as true wood laminate. The gutters are MDF, and the rims are solid wood. The whole thing is heavy (about 13 lbs (6.5kg)) and solid! I'm used to playing on $500 boards with my wife, and she (not knowing the price of this one) literally thinks that's what I paid. The play area is not raised quite as high as higher-end boards, but it didn't result in more pieces bouncing back from the gutter than on a more-raised, circular board (the octagon shape is likely the reason for this) The pegs are clear rubber tubing on screws (get a board with rubber pegs, not wood. They bounce better, play better, and add a little more chaos. When you go back to wood, you will be sad). A few of the pegs aren't perfectly straight. It doesn't affect the play at all, and you can upgrade them for about $10 if you care to. I might do so for the look; not for the gameplay. You will probably want to upgrade the discs. They are not perfectly round. They play fine and slide good, but they're a little oval/lopsided, which can result in an unexpected bounce or two. Discs are cheap. Get them from Amazon or an online game store. I got some crokinole wax too. Haven't applied it yet, since the friction level is ideal, but I probably will in a bit. Other reviewers said that it applies fine to the laminated surface. I'll update this if there are any issues there. I do also recommend octagon boards. Well they might not look quite as sharp as the circular boards, the corners in the gutters give you a safe place to ditch played discs without them getting in the way of pieces bouncing back on the board - a common problem with circular boards. And the trajectory of the discs hitting the angled sides results in fewer pieces bouncing back on the board, in my experience. All-in-all, I will upgrade the discs for $10-20, apply the $5 wax and maybe spend $10 on black rubber pegs. And have a crokinole board that plays as well and looks almost as good as a $400-500 name brand one. All for $110, maybe! That's crazy! I don't usually leave Amazon reviews, but these guys deserve a shout-out for what they have made for the price. Out of the box, it's almost perfect. New discs, And It's as good as what you'll find for $400 anywhere else. 10/10.

Fun game and good price
I think this is well built for the price. Sure there are more expensive and higher quality units. But for the price, this one is well built, plays well and well made. I like the pegs in the center that have protective rubber on them that makes play very nice. We've played it for several weeks now and have had no issues and really enjoy it. I only wish they made a cover or bag for storing as the game is a little large (it's standard size as it should be). But very pleased with the purchase and would recommend to anyone wanting to start or learn how to play Crokinole. I will say the game instructions are "ok" but you can go online and get the additional instructions. In reality the rules are fairly simple and found online instructions to be a tad more clear.

30" Tournament Crokinole & Checkers Board - Super Fun!
We purchased this game for ourselves after playing with friends. This game is fun and addictive. Great for family game night or with friends. This game has 2 games in one which is a plus! The craftsmanship is really nice with the wood finishes and design. Pros: Super fun, really appealing design, 2 games in 1 Cons: You can apply paste wax to the puck so it glides better, not a big deal really Summary: Great game at a great price!

Crokinole: A Fun and Challenging Board Game for All Ages!
I was introduced to Crokinole by my manager at work, and I've been hooked ever since. This game is fantastic! This set combines Crokinole and Checkers in one package, featuring a 30-inch wooden frame with a 26-inch playing surface and latex covered metal pegs. While my initial enthusiasm was met with genuine enjoyment, there are some drawbacks to consider. The uneven base impacts the board's stability, and I believe an indented bottom for chess/checkers would have been a better design choice. The discs are misshaped, and online reviews mention similar issues. The board surface needs frequent waxing, and it's worth noting the playing surface is not solid wood but laminate. Despite these concerns, it offers good value for its price. I'm on the fence about returning it, hoping for improvements in future. Overall, Crokinole is a game everyone should try. It's great for family and friends. As the slogan says, "It's the best board game you've never played."

It Works, but Terrible Quality Control - UPDATED
UPDATE: I have altered my original 3-star review to 5-stars due to the quick response by the company to satisfy my issue. Mistakes get made, and the real measure of a company is how it rectifies the ones it makes. In the future, I would not hesitate to purchase from them again. _________________________________________________________________________ After playing Crokinole for the first time with a friend over the holidays, I decided to get a board for myself. As a new player, I didn't want to spring for one of the high-dollar versions, so I ignored the negative reviews and gambled on buying this one. On the plus side, it works. After waxing the surface and chips, my son and I spent an hour playing several decent rounds. I have no complaints about the utility of the product. It is the quality control that was shockingly awful. As seen by the photos, two of the wooden edges surrounding the gutter looked like they had been repeatedly hit with a hammer, not only creating an unappealing aesthetic, but also creating a splintered surface that can catch the waxing cloth. The center board was also poorly glued in place, as the adhesive seeped under two sections, again creating an ugly look to what would otherwise be an attractive design. The damage was clearly done while at the factory because not only did the shipping box not contain any damage, but the board was still in the original styrofoam and plastic bubble wrap upon opening. I would certainly not purchase from this company again if this is the lack of quality assurance performed by them. I did not bother asking for a refund because, apart from the aesthetic damage, the board itself is playable, and I did not want to go through the hassle of demanding a return or refund.

Almost a Great Casual Board
I knew at the price point this wasn't going to be spectacular, and that was okay with me. I just wanted a board to try this game out after a long time drooling over it. The face of the board is nice. Around the exterior of the play surface you do see some sloppy glue work, but not a major concern. The lip around my board, meaning like the outer border, definitely could have been protected better in shipping. Quite a few dings and dents visible. The discs are ok. I have at least two that have big dents in them, which were there before shipping because they are painted over (on the black ones). Biggest complaint/concern I have is that after a couple games, one of the screws just popped right out and went flying. I screwed it in gently just with my fingers, assuming it just wasn't firmly attached, but probably two hits later and it goes flying again. I looked a bit more closely and the screw hole is a mess. Not sure if maybe somehow that particular screw got banged or something in the package, but you can see the screw doesn't have a whole lot to catch on to. I debated getting a different screw but honestly I'm not sure what I would do with it, in fear it would either do the same or would be too long and pop up the bottom, as I am not too sure how much depth there is to screw it in for it to catch. I ended up using a small dab of wood fill, and then when I screwed it in I cut the rubber layer a bit so it wasn't pushing too much pressure on the screw head. So again, for the cost this was pretty good, but definitely some cheapness to it all, and quality control seems to be a bit lacking.

Superb game, excellent purchase
Better than pictured. My game arrived in pristine shape and without issues. We have played this a few times already and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Took it to our clubhouse and now management is purchasing one for residents. Just donโt forget the one cheek rule, lol.
