Bad seeds.

My seedlings have sprouted!! I am so excited to watch this grow. I followed the instructions on the package. I planted 4 seeds total 2 in each hole so I feel like it's not the best germination rate. However, it took less than 5 days to sprout. The seeds looked healthy. As long as you follow the instructions I feel this is fairly easy to use. I do not feel like this item is overpriced as this plant can came back time and time again. Happy planting💚

These seeds arrived in the most smashed-up, battered and beaten packet I have ever seen. It seemed the shipping facility workers had used it for a carpet or a kick-ball because the mailer it came in was pristine so it happened before it was shipped. Looking inside, the seeds' wings were all but powdered and I was concerned the seeds themselves might be damaged to the germ too. I soaked just two of the seeds and they both had rootlets in 2 and 3 days respectively. Something dug up and ate one of the seeds. I know because I had it on my deck and went out in the morning and there was a shooter-marble-sized mini-crater where the seed had been. The other seed got out of the ground and had two fingernail sized leaves within a week. Then some sort of bug ate one of the leaves. The leaf remains were found cut off and lying on the dirt like a piece of wilted swiss cheese. No sign of the culprit. I have what's left of the poor one-leafed plant inside in the windowsill now. I'll try putting it back out when it's big enough to survive whatever rhubarb-eating bugs I seem to have here. Oddly enough it seems to be doing well despite the rough start. So yeah, 2/2 seeds that I tried sprouted immediately and what was not monched by bugs or critters is doing well.

I sprouted these seeds on a wet paper towel, then put them in Miracle-Gro seed starter. They are kind of delicate at first. Now I have 12 plants in 6" pots that I want to put out in my garden, but I can't yet because we are having 100 degree days. It just burns up rhubarb plants that are young. I keep them inside, waiting for days below 80 to put them out. Once they are established and grow a baseball sized crown they will be able to tolerate the heat better. It will slow them down but won't kill them. The bigger they get the better they can deal with the heat. Rhubarb are by nature a cool weather plant. I will rig up a tarp over them to give them some shade from the noon day sun when temps get above 95.

I got seven seeds to start nice. Now to wait for it to warm up outside
