Adore Semi Permanent Hair Color, 052 French Cognac, 4 Fl Oz

Great alternative to using permanent dye, especially for red heads! I LOVE that Adore has reds that are more naturally colored, when other veggie/semi dyes just have super red-red colors. Loving French Cognac color! People compliment my hair and it's color ALL the time- saying things like "Wow, you can't buy that kind of color!". I actually had a anesthesiologist give me too much medication because she thought I was a natural red head (fun fact, they naturally metabolize it much faster so they get a lot more) and my surgeon told me from now on to let doctors know I'm NOT a natural red head ;) I had been using Ion's line for years, and realized it was damaging my hair over time. Now I just perm dye my roots, then do the rest in this! Be aware- it's VERY runny and stains things easily! Like any hair dye, put towels down on the floor and other surfaces to protect them. It's also VERY pigmented! I actually cut mine with a cone-free conditioner (I use Biotera Ultra Color Care Conditioner) for application: 3 parts conditioner, 4 parts dye. It thickens it up, tones down the pigment to where I want it, and I also get a deep conditioning while my hair dye soaks in :) So my process for anyone who is curious- keep in mind I have light brown hair naturally: on unwashed hair, I dye my roots only with permanent dye (I use Ion's dark red blonde with 15% developer- half 10 half 20), let that develop, then wash my hair thoroughly with clarifying shampoo. (The clarifying shampoo tones down the perm dye color- which is usually really vivid- and also cleans your hair of all product residues so the semi dye can soak in well and evenly.) I let it dry completely, then mix the conditioner and adore dye, and apply it all over my roots and ends. I let it sit for typically an hour, then rinse it thoroughly with just water. Voila! Sometimes I get a tad bit of hot roots, but it's not very noticeable, and it fades over the next 2 washes just fine. Keep in mind, like any other semi/veggie hair dye, it WILL bleed out little by little every time you wash it. It's just the nature of the beast. I haven't found it's stained any of my clothing though (my towels and pillow cases are all red so I can't tell if it's done to those). I find I can go 2-3 months before I have to redye. This stuff is saving my hair a ton of damage and thus allowing me to keep it long and healthy :) Can't wait to see how great it is once I grow out all the damage I did to it before with constantly dying with perm dye!

Perfect color easy to apply

My hair had been bleached with highlights, then dyed blue so I had a few different colors going on & the blue was bright. I chose French Cognac hoping it had enough red in it to counter act the blue. It did!! I am so happy with the color! Looks just like the color swatch shown! This was so easy to use & covered beautifully!! Not sure how long it will last & will update after a month or 2. I can't believe how well it colors without harsh chemicals. Excellent product!!

This item shipped fast, but there was no inner seal on the bottle inder the cap so I dont know if it was used before. Ive been searching for a natural red direct deposit (no lift) color and saw good reviews for Adore Congnac and paprika. I got cognac and the color just wasn't right for me, too yellowy almost saffron mixed with brown tones. It washed out quickly, approx 3 washs, so no worries. I just prefer my manic panic i guess. *edit 1/19/19* I tried the same bottle of Adore French Cognac again this time with some drops of Crimson mixed in and I liked the result. It is very messy and gloves are a must or your hands will be majorly stained but it does leave a nice shine and best of all no damage! the key would be finding the color combo and application method that works for you. I applied to freshly washed damp hair with a brush concentrating at roots, then combed through my lengths to spread the color evenly. covered in a shower cap and heated with blow dryer for 10-15min. When it was time to rinse i soaked it first and squeezed the color through the ends and let it sit a few minutes before shampooing and conditioning. I didnt really have enough product to cover my hair completely but I think the result turned out better for the lighter natural red color Im trying to achieve. I dont want to use pernanent dye anymore so Ive tried Natural Instincts and although I do like the light lightest auburn/golden red color ok, it left a plasticy look to my hair and it uses a developer, I didn't want to use manic panic again its just too vibrant, so I gave Adore another whirl. And I am glad i did. Adore doesnt leave the same filmy feeling and smell behind at Natural instincts. Now im interested in trying different combinations of adore!

I loved this color! Keep in mind that the color will depend on your base color. My hair was bleached and dyed medium blonde before, and the result ended up with orange highlights, but I love the vibrant color; the photo doesn't do it justice. I also noticed that the color doesn't hold well at the roots or on the gray hair. I used two bottles for the length of my hair. Before and after photos

I didn't purchase this product to dye my hair a different color. Being I have dark brown hair and knowing how difficult it is to change color without essentially stripping it first, I just wanted to add a dark auburn hue to it. It was simple enough to use. Just open the bottle and it's ready to go. Followed the direction. Applied a generous amount and make sure my hair was well covered. Set for 15 minutes with heat, rinsed my hair and I saw absolutely zero difference. So I dried my hair and applied it for a second time but this time I let it set for 30 minutes with heat and it worked perfectly. I had such a nice dark auburn sheen to my naturally dark brown hair. Unfortunately, all the color washed out after 1 week, which equates to about 3 washes for me. I know this is "semi permanent" but seriously? 3 washes. It looked great while it lasted I guess.

I initially liked the color I got after I dyed it, but the color seemed to go away after 1 wash. The bottle is unclear on how much you should use and I disagree on the "wash hair before use" instruction. With wet hair I really don't think the pigment has too much to cling on to. I've included the before and after pictures of my hair. The targeted area is around 2 inches from my roots (where as the rest of my hair already had a very red faded box dye. I got a hair cut 2 days after and witht he salon wash, I feel like my hair is basically like it was before dying. There's still some color but barely. I give 3 stars because I still like the color and I feel like if I used the whole bottle on dry hair I'd get better results. My bottle was the French Cognac. I did not use gloves and be warned, obviously stains a lot. The color also looks very very dark initially out of the bottle, unlike other dyes where the color emerges after being on the hair for a while.

Beautiful colour! But it washes out quickly and it absolutely frys your hair! I continue to use it because I love it but I've just had to purchase a deep conditioner also to see if I can remedy the dryness!

I never usually leave reviews but I'm so impressed with these dyes that I couldn't resist. I've used many permanent copper dyes over the years and they're never the right colour either too brown or too red rather than specific orangey-copper I was looking for. Frustrated, I decided to lift my natural hair colour (level 5) to an orangey blonde and then use a semi permanent colour over the top instead. After struggling to find a semi perm that wasn't too orange, I found Adore hair dye and will probably never look elsewhere now. Personally I think Adore produces the most natural looking ginger/copper semi perm hair dye I have found. I use French Cognac with Adore Ginger (shade 30) to create my perfect ginger. My hair always feels lovely after use and I like the gel formula. My mix changes every time as I never both to measure it properly but I tend to use between 1/3 French Cognac and 2/3 Ginger to 40% FC and 60% G. It does fade quickly (it is a semi perm after all) but I just mix some French Cognac and Ginger into a bottle of conditioner and leave it in for 15 minutes every time I wash my hair.

First time user have not had any colour on my hair for some 8yrs now but fancied a little refresh of my natural red and lots of grey hair! I have loads of hair! Very thick and long and used about two thirds of one bottle! My hair has depth and shine and they greys are covered. It hasn’t given me a block colour it has effected my natural different tones in different and beautiful ways! Will defo be buying again and would recommend! I ordered last night got today and did my hair! Thrilled!!
