WOODEN.CITY Kinetic Wall Art Sculpture Ornate Geometric - Hypnotic Wooden Decor for Office, Home, Living Room, Bedroom, or Kitchen - Stress Relief and Creative Energy Boost

Fantastic piece of art! Directions are pretty clear. I've assembled several wooden puzzles so i new what to expect. Not too easy, but definitely not too hard. Took about 2 hours to assemble. Take your time! One hint: In step 6, after you put the one wheel on top of the other, and before you mount them on the main hub, use 2 small clamps or tape to hold the opposite ends to them together during the rest of the assembly. That makes sure they are positioned correctly. Posted a vid to Fb folks loved it!

The instructions are very good and the assembly is fairly straightforward, requiring very little technical knowledge (but obviously an ability to read and interpret pictures). There is one step that was not well done, and can be a real problem if you do it backwards. There are two little cover pieces that conceal the two main bolt axes on the front. These are both different thicknesses. But the instructions don't make it clear which one goes where. The thinner one goes on the bottom axis while the thicker one goes over the main spinning wheel axis. If you reverse them and put the thicker cover plate on bottom, there is not enough clearance with the spinning wheel, and the spinning wheel will strike it and disrupt the rotation. This small factor can make or break this cool device. It took me a while to figure this out, so I thought I'd share in case someone else ran into the same problem. The device is overall very cool. The run time is about 15 minutes or so. Obviously it would be cooler if it had a longer run time. It is based on kinetic sculptures made by a well known artist, but he uses springs instead of a weighted pulley. It would be neat if they offered more designs for the wheel, too. The precision in the mechanism is impressive. Someone actually spent time and a lot of though into designing this.
