Alum powder has magical properties!
I had a watch crown (winder) that had a stem broken in it and I did some research and found that Alum powder can be used dissolve the steel! Thought I would give it a go as the crown was unique. The crown was put in a solution of Alum and water, I then heated it for about 18 hours at 80 degrees. It worked! The broken part dissolved and I was able to reuse the crown

A must in the medicine box
A little alum mixed in water is a very handy addition to the medicine box. There is nothing like it to stop bleeding. I accidentally cut my leg and applied a swab saturated in alum water it stopped the bleeding immediately. You can try this test. If you add a drop of blood to the alum mixed water it coagulates immediately. That’s why the bleeding stops. I always keep this handy for emergencies
