Closes tight making it easy to store
Works very well and a huge upgrade from the model we had for at least 15year, has a nice rubber non slip coating, easy to take apart to clean and reassemble, chopping chamber is a good size and it chop’s nice with sharp blades

Must Have Kitchen Gadget
I bought this Zick Zick Zyliss to replace our original one that we bought in Germany 34 years ago and that sadly cracked a week ago. This new version works just as well and seems to be of equal quality, so I expect it to last just as long. It looks just like in the product photos in the listing and is just as described. The blades are nice and sharp but safely covered to prevent accidental cuts. The plastic guard is thicker than in the original version and so is the clear 'cup' which can be used to hold and store chopped food with the included lid. It easily chops up garlic, onions, nuts and other like food items and is dishwasher safe so cleaning isn't a problem either. Love my Zick Zick Zyliss and highly recommend!

It chops. It comes apart for cleaning. All good.
I just wanted something to help with quick chopping jobs. This fills the bill. I don't use the cup included because it just seems like you're asking to eat slivers of plastic. I use it on a cutting board (see pics) and it works great. You have to cut an onion in half and then quarters, but that's not a big deal. Peel the tough outer skin before you chop - it's not good to eat anyway. I also used it on celery, and had no problems with the strings. You're not going to get pretty slices or perfect onion cubes - this is for rough chop jobs only. But that's what you need for many recipes, so this is a great little tool. Docked a star (but only a half-star if I could) because it's a little difficult to take apart for cleaning. My husband has no problem with it, but my hands are smaller and it's kinda hard to get a good grip. But, It does come all the way apart for cleaning.

Great food chopper, easy to clean
I bought this brand to replace the OXO chopper that broke. It works great but within 3 weeks, the clear plastic outer ring cracked, they sent me a complete new one promptly. Zyliss is a very reputable company and I love their products.

Easy to use, hard to clean
It gets the job done, most of the time. Usually half my time is spent trying to get all the food out of the blades in between chops though. The pump tends to get stuck sometimes as well, causing me to press too hard and the whole thing goes sideways. It's pretty frustrating to use if you want a bit of a finer chop, it's fine for larger pieces tho.

Love the original product, yet the new version is even better
This is such a handy tool, easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to store. We have an original version, but this newly improved version is even better. Zillys, Bravo, thank you for a job well done. As a side note: I laughed when read a buyer complained about the tool is not very sturdy to chop nuts, does he know this tool is designed to chop soft items such as fruits and vegetables? Not for chopping hard nuts, concrete blocks and bricks? Anyway, please ignore those type of silly negative reviews.

Snaps like a rat trap
I generally like Zyliss products, but this one is pretty terrible. I bought this to replace an old OXO chopper that worked great, but eventually broke after many years of use. First of all, the plunger doesn't not lock in the stowed position securely - it only takes a little perturbation anywhere for it to pop open, and so it feels like I'm handling a loaded rat trap whenever it's in this position. This presents a problem in a few scenarios. It's difficult to reinstall the red blade guard - it's much easier with the blades extended when the unit is in the stowed position (plunger down), but, of course, the rat trap nature of unit makes this pretty scary. Cleaning residue off of the blades is much more effective with the blades extended, but even moderate water pressure and movement can cause them to snap. Again, this is pretty dicey. The drawer that I keep it in is just tall enough to accommodate it when it's in the stowed position. However, sometimes after I close the drawer, or when the cabinet is bumped a little, it pops open, and basically locks the drawer closed. Opening said drawer again requires a lot of cussing and skinned knuckles. The sharp blades poke out of the blade guard when fully retracted, which feels really dangerous when taking the blade guard off for cleaning or generally setting the thing down anywhere. Finally, the plastic container that holds stuff that you want to chop gets cut up by the blades and flakes of it end up in your food. The OXO chopper has a blade guard that guides to help it align with the blades easily and a handle that extends away from the blades that makes it feel a lot more safe to handle. Plus, it didn't snap like a rat trap. I honestly can't fathom why I didn't just buy the newer version of the OXO instead of trying the Zyliss.

Excellent when chopping onions or need it done fast
It makes chopping a breeze. I was concerned it would be a novelty that I’d use once or twice and forget, so I looked for the lowest cost version from a known manufacturer and came up with the Zyliss. It turns out I actually use it quite a bit. Usually it is when I need to chop onions (which make me tear up) or otherwise need to chop something fast because I have something going on the stove and am working like a short order chef. You have to do a few preliminary cuts to get items to the right size to fit, but after that it’s incredibly quick to get nicely diced food with very minimal incomplete/not all the way through chops. My *only* critique is that the blade doesn’t detach from the handle, so while it is dishwasher safe you do need to do a thorough pre-rinse to clear food matter. Other than that even clean up is super easy. Can’t believe I went this long after seeing the catchy “slap chop” infomercials without satisfying my hand chopper curiosity as these things are simply great

Unverzichtbar
Ohne meinen Zyliss (zick zick zyliss - war früher der Werbespot) geht gar nichts. Der alte war bestimmt über 20 Jahre alt - nun war der neue fällig. Super gut und scharf. Toll.
