But this time, I was determined to find something that would last, and wow, did I find it! First off, the noise level is surprisingly pleasant. It’s not completely silent, but it’s definitely not obnoxious either. It strikes a balance that makes the shaving experience feel more enjoyable rather than a chore. **No one wants a shaver that sounds like a lawnmower in the bathroom!** Now, let’s talk about the comfort factor. This shaver fits in my hand perfectly. The ergonomic design is a game changer! It feels so natural to hold, and I can easily maneuver it around my face without any awkward angles or discomfort. **It's like it was made just for me!** And when it comes to performance, this shaver delivers a shave that is as smooth as butter. I had Norelco and Braun electric shavers in the past, but have used Panasonic shavers for the past 20+ years. My travel shaver is an ES781 which runs on two CR123A batteries; I've used it for more than 23 years without problems. My home shaver has been the ES8103. I used it daily for more than 10 years without problems and the original rechargeable Li-Ion battery is still working well. Both of these shavers use the Panasonic ARC3 shaving head which has always worked well for me. I was looking for a shaver with USB charging to replace both my Panasonic shavers. Since this shaver has USB charging and the ARC3 shaving head it seemed to be worth a try. This shaver is wonderfully easy to use. Most shaving motions are done by simply twisting my wrist. Traditional shavers require more arm action (because of the handle and shaver shape). After using this shaver for a month I tried the ES8103 again; that shaver was definitely more difficult to use. This was an unexpected bonus. I turn the shaver on and off with one hand and haven't had any problems using the "swipe" on-off switch. The slip-on cap is tight enough to stay in place while traveling and is actually difficult to remove by grasping the broad side of the cap. However, grasping the curved edges of the the cap releases the cap with no effort. When the shaving head is removed for cleaning it must be replaced with the proper orientation; it cannot be mounted with a 180 degree rotation. (This prevents aligning the foil with a different blade which can cause premature wear of the shaving head). There are features that I wish were better. First, there is no "cleaning cycle" to use when rinsing the operating shaver under running water. This causes more water splashing; it can be minimized by holding the shaver low in the sink while rinsing. Second, the instructions state the shaver should only be used with the supplied charging cable. The charging cable appears to be a standard USB-A to USB-C cable and I'd like to be able to use whatever cable I have while traveling. I initially wondered if the smaller size and shape would detract from the shaving experience. It definitely does not. It's actually easier to use and gives me the same good shave that I've had from Panasonic for years. This is now my preferred shaver and I use it daily.

Okay full disclosure, this is my very first foil shaver. As I don't have the most experience with these, take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt. I needed something to avoid razer burns but small enough to travel with reasonably. The fact that this comes with a cap to keep the foils safe and the small form factor allows it to be easily kept in your toiletries bag. The battery life was good enough for my seven day cruise, shaving every morning. Every day made sense for my situation, your mileage may vary as far as how often you need to shave, so your battery consumption may vary. As far as efficacy is concerned, I feel like it did a reasonable job. Where I needed to shave grows quickly, densely, and has thick hairs. It managed to cut through it all pretty well after my initial trim. It took a few really slow passes and some touch-ups to get it where I wanted it but it's hard to complain honestly. Very easy to take apart and clean, I was honestly worried about that part for my first foil shaver until I looked at the pictures. Because it is water resistant, you can just rinse it through and shake off the water, I set mine on a towel while still apart after that just to be safe. Pretty easily to use for my first experience with a foil shaver. I tried both dry and damp with quite a bit more success dry shaving. I did not try cream/soap/whatever and I probably won't given how well it did dry followed up by aftershave. All that to say: It's small, it charges fairly quickly, it seems to have good battery life, and it does a good job. Good value as far as I'm concerned. I do have one complaint and it's significant to me, the controls. You slide on and off with no real buttons, and you can actually get it to turn on through the cap. I haven't had any issues getting it to turn on and off quite yet, we'll see if that changes over time. As it stands though, I don't really like that. I'm sure there's a reason, be it for the sake of water resistance or keeping everything compact. I don't like that I can turn it on through the cap, I found that one out on accident and it happened multiple times, idk if mine is overly sensitive or what. On top of that, I've had it turn off mid use while handing it, I'm not too sure if that's a common occurrence for other people or just user error. That aside, pretty happy with this little thing. I'll probably end up using this even outside traveling and see if I can get used to the swiping a little bit more.

My reasons for buying this specific razor: - I wanted a travel razor. This razor's size makes it ideal. Since its an electric, no need to pack my full shaving supplies (shave soap, brush, alum, styptic pencil.) - That this razor charges with USB-C was a contributing factor. I can charge it with something I'm already packing. I'm also trying to avoid proprietary chargers in my life. - Panasonic is a brand I know and trust. I expect it will be around when it comes time to replace the foil. I've used electrics in the past (mostly rotary) but for the last 10+ years, I've been a wet shaver. I enjoy the routine of it and get a better shave. For travel, I keep looking for ways to lighten my load. I have travel sizes for all my shaving stuff but its still a lot. Its harder to freshen up in the airport if you want and at some point, I'm packing a wet brush. I've only used this razor a couple of times, just to try it out, and the shave was about what I expected. Good, not great, but certainly good enough for travel. Five stars for me since it delivers what I bought it for. I'm traveling next week so I'll see what battery life is like. I've known guys who shaved in traffic on their way to work. For someone like that, I think this would be a great razor. Again, USB-C charging is a plus. If I wanted an everyday to use in the bathroom, I would probably choose something more ergonomic. Update after traveling with it: I took a nine day trip with this razor. It was packed in my checked bag so I didn't use it on travel days. On the first charge, I used it twice at home before leaving and six times while traveling and I have not recharged it yet. Each time I shook it out over the sink and gave it a light brushing. All shaves were fine. Not as close as a blade shave but good enough that I would go to work (and did) after using this razor. I took my time, made a few passes, and got a good shave. For the reason I bought this razor, five stars. This is a great travel razor.

Works great. Compact, powerful, and the battery lasts a long time. What more could you ask for?

In theory, this shaver is great. It delivered a close shave, lasted for days, charged on usb-c, was compact and easy to travel with, and beat the price point of other similar razors. However, after about a year of use, it completely stopped working. The saddest thing is that I’m pretty sure it’s all to do with the fancy touch-bar switch. As fancy as it is, it’s incredibly sensitive and if the electrical parts are affected by water in any way, it completely shorts the whole system. My advice - go for a travel razor without the gimmicky switch. For what it costs, this isn’t worth it.

Well made - rugged construction and fits my hand well. Good value for money. I use it exclusively when traveling so I don’t have to schlep a razor, blades, shaving soap and a brush. Perfect for a quick clean up after an overnight international flight. Gives a very nice, close shave without irritation. Pay attention to the instructions when they suggest stretching your skin as you shave and shaving once against the grain and then again with the grain. Had a Braun travel shaver for years that finally died. This is a worthy replacement.

Panasonic’s first DUD. I have had, and still have, four other Panasonic shavers – all excellent. Two of them are Panasoni’cs $20 battery operated Japanese ones – which I now use AFTER my SWIPE-RIGHT shave to really get a smooth shave. The SWIPE RIGHT never gives me a good shave, and shaves take very long, up to five or six minutes, then I go to the battery operated one to finish. Perhaps because it does not serve its main purpose, I find myself dreading the thing. I don’t like it’s shape, a little hard to hold onto and maneuver. I don’t like that once under water, you must disassemble and allow it to dry – in pieces – for a long time (if the cap goes back on, it will never dry). I dislike the silly “swipe right” turn-on, which, although I have tried many different methods (hard press, soft press, finger high, finger low, etc) it rarely works the first or second time. It looks okay, but a little like shaving with a fat bar of soap, in terms of shape and how it feels in hand. As recommended by instructions, I tried it out for several weeks until my face “got accustomed” to this new electric shaver. And now I am past return date. I am not a returning-kind-of-guy anyway, but I did want to make my report. I am betting one day, in odd frustration, I will just toss the shaver, and go back to the other Panasonics (less stylish looking) that work well.

Is a good shaver but not good under the cheek bones and it not a good close shave but the size is good but no case for shaver which I think is mean defo not worth £120
