This tool cuts through cardboard easily. However, there's a small learning curve to obtain the best results and avoid snags and hang ups of cardboard edges on parts of the tool. When it seems to jam, with the cutting wheel spinning but you can't push forward to cut...you're snagged. Give a slight twist to the tool left and right to clear the snag and resume cutting away. This is a right-handed tool. Lefty's may find it difficult to use. I found that the best way to reduce a cardboard box was to lay the box on its side with the top opening toward you. Place the cutter on the top right edge between the flaps and cut straight along the corner to the bottom. The tool may stop about an inch from the bottom but no big deal. Rotate the top of your box to the left (counter-clockwise) and repeat. If the box is large enough, hold the box in place by placing a foot on the box flap on the ground. Once the four sides are cut, then cut along the bottom sides of the box removing each newly cut long flap. Break down the larger panels as needed with further cuts. This is a very useful tool and great investment if you use online ordering frequently and have to break down accumulated cardboard the night before trash pickup day! As a bonus, Skil offers a five year warranty with product registration. I was unaware and purchased the 4-year warranty from Assurion that I apparently didn't need. However, if the item fails, I intend to submit claims to both Assurion for a refund and to Skil for product replacement I highly recommend.

This is a great product and does exactly what it says it does. The ease of use and the power that it gives. I wish the speed would be better and may get a little getting used to. But you get what you pay for.

I had high hopes for the product. Two stars for me. Why? Three reasons. 1. It doesn’t cut like butter. It’s fine through a single layer of cardboard but it struggles with thick cardboard and corners and often gets snagged do to poor design of its guard. It simply would not cut through an area rug. 2. It’s pricey for what you get. 3. And the main reason why I dislike the product—the safety. You have to hold the safety button on the side and the trigger at the same time to get it started and it’s extremely annoying. It’s really inconvenient and unnecessary. I’ve been around tools for decades and neither need nor want the annoying safety. I’m going to try to take it apart to disable it or maybe just tape them down. All in all, this is a poor product that I wish I could return.

Works great on cardboard, paper, and corrugated cardboard. However you are going to wait a long time in shipping. The battery is easily enough for a whole day’s use. The safety slider on the trigger is a little annoying, but I guess it does what it’s supposed to. Compared with a lot of very similar cutting tools this one is legit, quick, and worth the hassle of waiting for it. I chopped up 150lbs of corrugated cardboard on one charge, 75% remaining.

This was recommended by the YouTube creator “ Project Farm”. I’ve purchased several items that he recommended and was well pleased. Don’t get me wrong, this works great most of the time I have used it but I had several packages arrive that had thicker than usual cardboard boxes. This obviously wasn’t designed to handle that grade of cardboard. I used it on some typical cardboard and on some cloth tubing. It cuts the cloth very well but you do have to hold the cloth correctly so that the cutter doesn’t just push it away. I don’t think that I would buy this again but I’m sure I’ll put it to good use…I’m just 3 star happy, that’s all.

Could have just been I had the wrong expectation. But I got this for handling cardboard boxes and while the safety perspective can't be ignored, it's definitely not as quick as I thought it would be. It can be a bit fiddly getting the edge to engage and it doesn't as much zip through the cardboard as casually stroll. Pretty much back to exclusively using my utility blade.

This item is faster than my Makita Multi-cutter but the spring tension on the trigger is fairly stout. I wound up modifying it for easier use.

110 North American Plug so totally useless in the UK without a transformer.

Esta cortadora de cartón me ha funcionado de maravilla para deshacerme de todas esas cajas que antes batallaba para desechar. Antes usaba un cúter, un método peligroso y que me tomaba mucho tiempo. Ahora, con esta herramienta, en minutos tengo las cajas desarmadas en láminas o pedazos fáciles de apilar y entregar para reciclar. La batería dura muchísimo, ya que la herramienta corta rapidísimo y el tiempo de uso por cada caja es muy corto. Sin embargo, encontré un pequeño inconveniente en el diseño. La batería está ubicada en la parte posterior e inferior de la herramienta, lo que a veces choca con el cartón mientras haces un corte largo. Esto interrumpe el movimiento natural de la mano y me obliga a doblar el cartón para que la cortadora siga avanzando. Este problema se presenta en la mayoría de los cortes más largos que la misma herramienta. En mi opinión, un pequeño cambio en el diseño solucionaría este detalle. A pesar de eso, no le quita méritos a la herramienta, por lo que le doy 5 estrellas. Su rendimiento y la comodidad que ofrece superan por mucho este pequeño inconveniente.
