Uttar Pradeshโthe most populous state of the countryโhas been instrumental in continually shaping Indian electoral politics. In At the Heart of Power , Shyamlal Yadav, one of the prominent investigative journalists of India, delves into the lives and times of the 21 chief ministers of the state, right from Independence to the present day. Yadav illuminates how these stalwarts navigated the trials, tribulations and triumphs of the sociopolitical terrains during their terms, leaving an indelible mark on the stateโs history. Through meticulous research, this book unveils the dynamic personalities and legacies of these 21 individuals, offering profound insights into their ideologies, policies and leadership styles. This extraordinary odyssey through the momentous events in the lives of UPโs foremost leaders looks at the past and contextualizes the present. Whether you are a history buff, a political aficionado or simply curious about the pulse of the heartland of India, At the Heart of Power promises to be a riveting read. Review: Good book - Highly recommended to you and everyone at home from me. Must read and highly recommended for you and your family members and all your friends and family members and all your friends Review: A must read for students of polity - Just finished reading this wonderful book, a must read for students of polity and anyone else who has interest in politics of countryโs most important state (because it has 80 Lok Sabha seats). Itโs not a book to be read and forgotten; it is like a reference material that needs to be referred to, time and again. Shyamlalโs extensive research to write this monumental political treatise on UP politics is tremendous and praiseworthy.

Genuine copy, but somewhat lower quality from the publishers themselves.
Very good account of political developments in a chronological manner. UP people must read it to understand their beloved state. Very good command over the topics and issues and references have been used with aplomb.

Concise due to large number of CM's covered
....a light read about 21 CM of UP...vast number of CM included becomes the short coming of the book... fast breeze read...short on anecdotes and big on numbers and fact sheet....cud hv been better had it been a collection of anecdotes and incidents giving insight into the minds of these CM's.
