Good microphone, good kit
I find the Sennheiser MKE 600 works well as either an on-camera mic, or mounted on a boom pole. The on-off switch has a nice tactile feel - you can tell when it has been moved. The construction seems solid, good enough for run-and-gun shooting or the rigors of on-set or on-location boom use. It may not be obvious, but the mic comes with its own mount and foam wind screen, although I'm glad to have the other items in this kit for the additional utility / capability they provide. Once nice feature of this mic is that the power LED has different behaviors to indicate battery power level: lights up red for approx. 1 second and after switch-on and then goes off to indicate a good amount of juice in the battery. It stays on red when the battery level is getting low. So that is helpful. The Auray Universal Shock mount is pretty good - the rubber mic-holder part seems robust enough - better than a cheap-ish rubber band. It is removable / replaceable if it should ever break. The attachment part has a cold-shoe plate, and also has 3/8 thread, so it will mount to a boom pole with male 3/8 screw. There is also an adjustment knob on the side to allow mic position to be pointed in desired direction - just shy of 180 degrees of travel. The wind-shield seems fine too, although haven't tested it much. It has a good firm grip quality - seems to stay in place, but is easy enough to remove. Overall I'm pleased with this kit.

Excellence
My son has a side job making videos for realtors (mostly) so his AV is inside and out, occasionally on boat docks etc. I bought this mic for him as a gift, his wife giving me the info on what he wanted. He is absolutely pleased with it. The unidirectional aspect is spot on at reducing unwanted noise, the wind screen works great as does nothe shock mount. I watched a video he made this past Saturday pre edit, the interviewee could be heard clearly with no wind or rumble from walking on a wooden dock. Excellent product.

If you value sound...
buy this mic! It is the perfect mic for run-and-gun filmmaking. I use it a lot for interviews as well and have received several comments on how great the audio sounds. Remember people are more like to watch a bad video with good audio than a good video with bad audio.

Really impressive
I know next to nothing about microphones but this seemed like a good investment for film audio/sound library. I took it out yesterday, had it connected to my Tascam DR-40x, recorded in Mono since there's only 1 mic. The sound is amazing, a little too good in fact because it was picking up the car noises from about a mile away. I'll just have to go deeper into the woods to get rid of the noise pollution. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to get audio for filmmaking purposes.

High Quality
I'm happy with it. Use it on my Canon Vixia HF G40. Sound is good, looks great. Ideally you'd want to use a microphone of this calibre on a professional camcorder and not a mid-grade like my G40 as there are technical reasons behind it, but it does the job. I bought the "Sennheiser KA 600 XLR Female to 1/8" TRS Male Connection Cable" so the microphone will connect to my non-professional grade Canon G40, here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EQB4M7Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1Quality of the microphone is very good. Has a sturdy, solid metal feel. Shotgun mic, wind shield and mount all have a professional high-quality feel to them. The wind shield cuts down on wind noise which was a big problem in the past when I didn't have one.

This product is a device that can achieve very good audio quality.
I used the Rode Auxiliary Video Mic GO. Compared to this product, the quality is definitely different when recording audio, as it is expensive. The Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun Microphone can record audio with a distinct quality compared to the Rode mic even if it's far away. If you have money to spare, I recommend this product.

Everything you came to expect from Sennheiser
I now have two of these. The MKE 600 is everything you come to expect from the name. A true industry standard for any professional shoot. I’ve used it in the field many times on my shoulder rig along with a lav for scratch. But When mobile, I XLR cable directly to the zoom h4n pro in my backpack and go! and wow. So it can easily be used as a run and gun mic. It’s more than capable. But where it really shines is the interview process. I get crispy clean audio and very natural bass. 12-16 inches from the talents chest and you get good bass tone. Bring it a bit higher and focus it more to the mouth and you can tone down the bass quite a bit. It can truly be tailored to your needs. I have an NTG3 and this beats it in terms of natural sound.
