Fantastic Sketchbook
I drew in this sketchbook every day for two months. It was wonderful to work in. I have some pros and cons after working in it for a while I'd like to share with others: Pros -Tough. I dropped this book multiple times and used it daily. No pages fell or ripped out. It looks like new. -Truly Bleed Proof. I used Copics, Eno Mechanical Pencils, Posca Pens, Sharpies, Copic Multiliners, Micron Pens, Uni-ball gel pens, Gelly Roll Pens, Sakura Metallic Pens, etc. and nothing bled through. -Great Deal. You can draw 96 drawings in this if you utilize both sides of the paper. I think it's a great deal for the price. Cons - Paper is a very lightly tinted gray color. - Watercolor is terrible on this paper. I didn't even use much water. I used a water brush pen. The water was eating up the paper. It didn't go through but definitely made a top layer too textured for me to continue with the painting. I tried it twice and both times this happened. -Sketchbook does not lay flat. Ever. It wasn't a big deal for me but it may be for some individuals. Overall, I loved this little sketchbook. I just bought another for my birthday. I can't wait to use it!

Great art journal!
I had absolutely no doubt this paper would do very well with markers and other dry media. The paper feels really really close to the usual smooth Bristol paper. It is really heavy & thick, but not textured. My main curiosity was how it would do with watercolor. Naturally it behaves nothing like watercolor paper, the paint doesn't bloom, spread or blend, but instead seems to get absorbed straight into the paper wherever it touches down. That said, my watercolor doodles still look pretty fantastic when dried, and the paper withstood 3 or 4 washes and even getting blasted with my heat tool to speed up drying. I even used masking fluid for some little dots and swirls around the coffee and it came right off without damaging the paper. It could probably take more washes but advanced techniques like wet in wet definitely won't work on this paper. The thickness of the paper is visible when you hold it up to a light. It's true that the cover is easily stained but it doesn't bother me one bit considering the beating this paper can handle. For the price it's listed at on Amazon, I will buy this journal over and over again. Can't wait to fill this thing up!

NO bleedthrough
This sketchbook is super great if you want to use inks or makers that usually bleed through the pages! I've covered a couple pages in copic ink and none of it had bled through or was even visible on the other side! I think it'd be great for professional art, but I have no experience with how it reacts to anything other than ink and copics. That being said, I found my copics to dry alarmingly quickly while drawing in this! It might be that the copics are at fault, or my expectations for them, but reguardless i was having to refill them every 3-10 pages..! Mind you, this was while i was using only 6 grayscale markers, but be aware if you can't afford refills. Additionally, despite me bringing it about everywhere and carelessly having it jostled around in my bag, it's remained very durable and the spine and covers are still in perfect condition. This is, for sure, a well made sketchbook! Overall, a great sketchbook, and one I found pleasing to draw in. Even though they dry quickly, the copics were easy to use in it and looked great on the paper. I would deffo recommend this sketchbook to anyone wanting to make a gorgeous book of art!

Love it, it truly does not bleed through.
Love it! I have always loved coloring with markers more than any other medium. This is the sketchbook for me! A friend tested one of the pages by coloring on it for about 5 minutes ( in the same spot) with one of those giant metal sharpie markers. NO BLEED to the other side at all. We had to dissect a page to see how it works. We didn't really figure it out because we're artists not scientists, but it works.... The paper of course feels a little stiffer than others, but not drastically. The cover also feels nice but its prone to chicken wing grease stains. (My fault for eating chicken wings while drawing) Overall i love it!

Crescent Creative Products 12-00010 5.5 8.5-Inch RENDR Hardbound Sketchbook, 5.5" x 8.5"
I've read so much about this product as well as watched quite a few videos and what these reviews all have in common are the positive comments - chiefest of which are that the pages won't warp after being wetted, and media won't leak to the other side of the page... and one other comment I came across was that this sketchbook is worth the price. All good, so that is why I bought it.

Bleeds lightly
I was exited to find a paper that I could use both sides for but unfortunately the copic markers do bleed through juts a bit onto the back sides of the sheets. Not enough that I have to worry about the next sheet but I don’t want bleeding into the drawing on the other side. The marker drys quick so blending is a bit of work but I love how smooth the paper feels. But the marker drys unevenly on the pages. It caused speckling.

Paper is a solid 5/5, construction is a 1/5
I have been consistently using the Rendr paper for years now, as it's the best paper to sketch and practice copics on, but dealing with loose papers is a pain, so I was pretty excited to get my hands on a hardback and keep everything together. The paper itself is lovely. Ultra smooth, everything glides over it like warmed butter, from pencil to ink and markers. You can layer about 4-5 layers of marker before it stops blending and oversaturates to just push color around with spots. It won't show onto the other side, so it's been wonderful for filling every blank spot with ideas and getting full spreads. One caveat though is the paper is extremely prone to staining, especially from hand oils, undried ink, or even from my kneaded eraser just sitting over it. It's unerasable, and looks unsightly, but fortunately I can draw over it and doesn't affect the final piece. It just doesn't look as bright and white anymore. However the biggest drawback and the reason I will not be buying another, is this sketchbook is constructed so horribly and cheaply. Within a week the black paper cover was stained with oils and began to rip. Within that month of daily use, the entire back cardboard spine was ripping off and pieces of the black paper were coming off. I bought a plastic sleeve meant for A5 books to try and save it, but it turns out this book is about a quarter centimeter too big on the corners, so I went through 3 different types of A5 plastic sleeves before I settled on an oversized hobonichi cover on cover. It's not ideal, but it at least protects the rest of the cover until I get to the end of the book and gives me pockets to store sticky notes/bookmarks in. While it lays flat, most of the paper signatures are glued very poorly, so many pages are stuck together. If I pull them apart to let it lay fully flat, it leaves a very unsightly noticeable seam of ripped paper down the center (goodbye full spreads, I included a picture of one where I pulled the seam apart after drawing and you can see how much of the paper you lose to this glue). You can draw over it but the texture is unpleasant to work with, and it is bleedproof to some extent so it won't show to the other side, but it will bleed through the ends of the other pages and melt them a bit so they start to fray (included a picture of that too). The stitching is also weirdly wide and doesn't extend evenly from the top of the spine to the bottom but rather in just 3 quarter inch sections. It's not tightly stitched so pages will lift and pull away as you turn them (another pic included), and everytime that happens I have a mini heart attack thinking this is the moment the entire book finally falls apart on me. I'm only halfway into the book, and I've been working on it everyday for months now. I reference my work frequently and flip back and forth a lot, so the book falling apart on me in a few months is a major negative. I only travel between rooms with it and work on it on a table, so it's not even being handled roughly for it to fall apart so quickly (plus it has the plastic sleeve and that's only slowing down the continuing degradation). I do open it frequently and flip through pages, but again, I feel like for a $20 sketchbook, the binding should stay together for a year at the minimum, but I suppose we're just paying for the paper at this point. I do love having everything in book format, so maybe I'll shop around for another marker sketchbook or make my own with rendr paper pads. It's such a shame because the paper is great, but the construction of the sketchbook is absolutely disrespectful to the paper. If this was better constructed (I heard they used to be before but alas), it would have been the only sketchbook I'd use from here on out. The paper is that good. If you get this, I highly recommend covering it in some of kind of sleeve or plastic lamination to prolong the integrity of the cover.

I love this sketchbook
I love this sketchbook. I use Copic markers and I have a very hard time with the markers going through pretty much any paper I use. Bristol I have found does pretty good with very little bleed through to other pages. This paper on the other hand is wonderful. Nothing comes through on the other side. You can use both sides of the paper so it maximizes how much of the book you can use. The book has 48 pages but since you can use front and back you end up with 96 pages. I think the only drawback that I have found is that I wish the book would lay a little flatter, not so that I can draw larger images on two pages, but while I am drawing I wouldn't feel like I was holding the book open. With that said I still really love this book and would order it again, because the hardbound books are durable and nice to carry in my bag. I will also try the lay flat sketchbook in the future.

Perfect sketchbook for me!
This sketchbook is exactly as advertised! It's ever so slightly grey tinted (which I love) and I tested it with multiple layers with my markers and not a thing shows up on the other side! Plus, it can handle enough ink to create flawless blends! However, it doesn't stay open and you have to hold it flat, and with markers, it will feather out a little. Despite that, this was exactly what I was looking for and it's worth the money I spent.

Exactly as advertised
Works exactly as advertised! I was skeptical after a bad experience with a Copic Notebook that made all the same promises but this book is Amazing!
