After comparing several portable winches in the same category, I chose the RUGCEL 4500LB. It offers a well-balanced combination of price, features, and build quality, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. Its biggest advantage is that it doesn’t require permanent installation—just store it in the trunk and take it out whenever needed. Impressed, I've been very impressed with this winch. I decided to purchase one after using my brother in laws while on a moose hunt. It's a very compact and portable unit, so far I've pulled 3 vehicles onto a car trailer and a snowmobile, it has functioned flawlessly. I bought to have with me while in the north Maine woods. I highly recommend this unit.

Winch performs well. Had to add washers for battery input terminals so leads would fit snugly. Plastic hinges on case are poorly designed - one side broke on first use! Weight of unit heavy but about what I expected for a good quality winch. Easy to use with included accessories. Acceptable value for a portable package.

The winch damaged the rope the first time I used it. I discovered that it was because the item was not provided with a rope guide as it is supposed to be. I contacted the manufacturer and was told that every unit has a quality check done so they wouldn't provide me a rope guide. In the end I had to pay for a rope guide that should have been supplied with the winch AND buy a new rope because mine was damaged due to lack of manufacturer shipping with a rope guide. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to use it within the return window or I would have just returned it. Not happy with this customer service or manufacturer.

I bought this mainly as a portable recovery option and it honestly exceeded expectations. The steel mounting plate and included recovery gear make it feel like a complete kit rather than just a bare winch. Overall, for a portable system it offers a great balance of convenience, pulling power, and versatility. If you want a winch you can use across different vehicles or projects without a permanent install, this is a surprisingly solid option.

This thing is awesome, I’ve used it multiple times already and love it. I keep it inside of my truck in the winter and my side by side in the summer. Very nice to have this around.

Product works as described. 1st use was to pull a Ford Ranger onto a U-Haul Xar Hauler double axle trailer. I lined up the trailer with the truck, connected the provided power cables to a 20’ long set of jumper cables to hook up to my F150s battery and then using the power button unreeled the hook and line. I made sure the wench was properly secured to the front of the trailer and began pulling the truck in neutral up onto the trailer. My son steered it while I controlled the wench. 1st use was a success. If I were to critique this product, I would say that the box that houses the winch needs to have more room inside to fit a 30 foot long set of jumper cables to power the wench from the front of a truck to the back where a trailer is… it comes with about 6’ which is way to short and not practical in my 1st use case…

Nach dem wir die Winde im Gelände eingesätzt haben sind wir zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass…. 1/ das handling etwas schwierig ist , besonders wenn man alleine ist! 2/ die Fernbedienung hat nicht funktioniert (möglicherweise war die Batterie leer.) 3/Fernbedienungskabelanschluss zu kurz! E-Anschluss zur Batterie zu kurz. 4/ Due Schekel zu klein! Für den Einsatz in schwerem Gelände ungeeignet!

Neat and tidy kit. BUT! Even with the anchor straps middled (half the length) the power leads won’t reach the vehicle battery for self recovery setup. Why?!!! Disappointed that the day after I ordered it, the price was significantly dropped. Be nice to be offered the difference as a refund. I see the price is now sitting at this much lower price point. So, once I make up an extension lead to reach the battery, I intend using a Spanish Burton pulley rig, to gain an 8T pulling capacity (while at 1/4 of the pace). My adventuring style is low risk, however, this kit gives me a safe guard for self recovery should an unexpected event happen. Plus, I don’t want to spend $6K for a bar & winch and constantly carry that weight, plus I want a gentlemanly look to my 4x4, this kit will hide discreetly in the back, only when planned adventuring.

Seems plenty strong I'd say its accurately rated. I really love the case, I leave the line spooled out and just put it in the case for quick set up and quick cleanup after. No need to spool it in every use.
