So much fun!
The media could not be loaded. My three year old son loves this and plays with it for hours. Easy assembly and seems very durable. One of my favorite pieces added to his train collection.

Small but mighty
Lights, steam, and Dino’s. Sometimes I press the button even when my toddler isn’t around.

Great quality
This is a cute volcano and dinosaurs. I wasn’t really a fan of the wood eggs. The magnets didn’t work that well with the dinosaurs and the egg. The volcano and dinosaurs are well-made. They have a great quality and are durable. The price point seems a little high, but this is a name brand toy so you are paying for the name I feel like. Overall nice toy.

Not as impressive as the price would suggest but fun anyway
I opened this and was pretty disappointed. It’s quite small and I find resetting the erupted pieces of “volcano” pretty annoying. It also doesn’t do anything unless you press buttons and interact with it directly by pushing the buttons. No automatic sounds when a train passes by. I was prepared to send it back however I set it up and showed my four year old how it works and he instantly created a world of make believe with the pterodactyl trying to rescue her eggs. He delights at the steam and lights and sounds. I personally wish it had track connections built in or something to incorporate it with more planning and engineering the track setup but it’s actually very open-ended in its simplicity and that allows for a lot of flexibility in actually playing with it. As an adult I wish there was more to it but my four year old adores it. Maybe wait until it’s on sale though. A lot of these wooden train sets are a bit too grounded in reality if you think about it. The trains go to the tech bay for maintenance and they go to the station to pick up passengers and that’s sort of it. How fun to have it travel to a prehistoric dinosaur land! I hope to see some more imaginative pieces like this in brio’s lineup.

Erupting Volcano A Worthy Centerpiece for a Brio Collection
First, let me say that we are Brio collectors. We have also tried other brands, cheaper tracks and trains etc. As such, I think we are well qualified to discuss this Brio dinosaur collection and provide some context from they eyes of a collector. In general, I think Brio has really hit it out of the park with this dinosaur collection. The dinosaur figurines are amazing and I think compare favorably to the universe of dinosaur toys out there in the non-train world. The colors are vivid and the figures are beautifully crafted. In this set you get the mother of all dinosaurs, the true star of the show, the red T-rex. He's cute here, but still menacing, and he is quite a scary guy when he climbs himself up the dino mountain and unleashes the volcano. The kids absolutely love this volcano. They like putting water in the black pipette thingy, they like filling the volcano with water, they like making the steam effect. This is pretty much the same tech and setup as the Brio steaming train (Brio 33884) but now on a much grander scale with a bigger effect. As the titles states, I think this piece on its own can be a worthy centerpiece to a larger train collection, but I also think getting some more dinos is a good idea as well. For us seeing how great these dinosaurs are, I would classify the dinosaur collection as a must have for a Brio collector, which then begs the question of how you should go about piecing together a collection, and I think there are a few choices depending on your budget. I think the t-rex and the volcano are must have pieces, so you then need to decide if you want to buy this set the 36092, or if you can afford, you can splurge and get the newly released this fall Brio 36194, which is a much larger set with most of the dinosaur collection include our t-rex and the volcano. That set also for the moment includes certain dinos that are exclusive to that set, which could really make it the way to go if you are serious about this collection.Make sure to show your kids the cute brio dinosaur videos on youtube. That will definitely increase their enjoyment of this toy as well.If I had to quibble with this set, I would say my biggest gripe is that the water in hole is too close to the steam out hole and that creates some confusion for me and the kids, but now they have gotten the hang of it.

Great set, requires proper care to keep steam working.
I love the new Brio dinosaur launch!! This set, the Dinosaur Erupting Volcano, is great, but parents will have a bit of work to keep the steam feature working . This set doesn’t include track connecting pieces; instead, you get two dinosaurs, the volcano tunnel, and dinosaur eggs. The volcano includes a bulb to extract and add water, but we lost it right away—a syringe works just as well. To extend the longevity of the volcano, make sure it’s emptied and dried between uses, and I recommend using distilled water. Like the steam engine, it works great but requires proper care to keep functioning. You activate the volcano with a button, and it includes sound effects and lights, which my kids love. I actually appreciate that the tunnel doesn’t have track connections—it makes it versatile for use with cars, too. Motion doesn’t activate it, and it doesn’t have chip integration, which works perfectly for us since not all our trains are from the same brand. I prefer pieces like this to be more open-ended.Is it pricey? Yes, but Brio is a premium brand, and their products are durable, consciously made,, and backed by excellent customer service. If your kid loves trains and dinosaurs, this is absolutely worth the investment!
