What is the throat depth of this clamp?

I'm not sure how Jeff measured it, but I don't think it's 4 inches. The max jaw opening between the two horizontal clamp pads is only 3.25". By my measurement, the max space from the bottom of the upper clamp pad to the top edge of the horizontal clamp pads is 1.75" and to the center of the horizontal clamp pads is 2.5".

How strong are these? I want to mount a surfboard rack onto the rails of a pwc. Random, but there are no prefab 3way clamps that r big enough.

It sounds like this would be used on a moving vehicle and that I would not recommend. They are meant to be used for installing cabinets or used in a shop so no to your question.

could any one please tell me what kind of metal this made of, I need to weld on to it for my project.making a disk cutter for my bead roller

The clamp seems to be made of aluminum with I think some kind of black matte powdercoat. You'd probably have to be very careful welding anything onto this clamp.

well built clamps , design is wrong , worked well for clamping cabinet faces until you add a filler piece , clamp throat was too small and threaded ends at the throat should have been reversed to allow larger material to be clamped , as designed they are not good for kitchen cabinets i ended up using $5 lowes clamps to do the kitchen cabinets , they look good hanging on the wall tho

I'm using these for a project and they are better than what I could find at Home Depot. They protect the surfaces with soft pads so you don't need to struggle to insert other things inbetween. Very versatile with three way clamping action.
