Needs adjustments
Whilst this boom arm is amazing quality, down to the base being very sturdy. The arm itself, is perfect. The only issue with this arm is the springs under a bit more tension than they need to be. If you have a heavy mic, it should keep it in place but after doing some research online, I had to make sure the screws on the joints were fully tightened. Without any instructions in the box, it caused some frustration. With the adjustment made, it now stays in place. Giving me freedom to use a microphone without cables everywhere on the desk or a banging feedback from the acoustic travelling thought the stand. All in all, before the screw adjustments - it was going to be sent back. After the adjustments, it’s a great working arm with a heavy base camp. Adjustable to tailor any position.

No sag issues
Clamp or drill through desk option with stylish collar insert. Microphone is lighter than the minimum stated weight but does not move once positioned. A quality bit of kit.

Reliable and Flexible Microphone Boom Arm
I've been using the RØDE PSA1 Professional Studio Arm for my home recording setup, and it has significantly improved the ergonomics and convenience of my workspace. This boom arm allows for easy and precise placement of my microphone, making it ideal for podcasting, streaming, and recording applications. Design and Build Quality: The PSA1 features a durable design with a parallelogram spring system that keeps the microphone perfectly stable, even when adjusting the arm's height. The arm offers a full 360-degree rotation and a horizontal reach of up to 820 mm, providing ample flexibility to position the microphone exactly where needed. Ease of Use: Installation was straightforward, and the arm comes with both desk clamp and desk insert mounting options, accommodating various desk configurations. The movement is smooth and noise-free, allowing for on-the-fly adjustments during recording sessions without introducing unwanted sounds. Compatibility: The PSA1 is compatible with a wide range of microphones, including the RØDE NT1-A and Podcaster, supporting microphones weighing between 700 g (1.5 lbs) and 1.1 kg (2.4 lbs) when combined with shock mount. Pros: Sturdy and durable construction Smooth and silent operation Flexible positioning with full 360-degree rotation Easy installation with multiple mounting options Cons: The included cable management straps could be more robust Overall, the RØDE PSA1 Professional Studio Arm has been a valuable addition to my recording setup, offering reliable performance and enhancing the overall workflow. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a high-quality boom arm for their microphone.

Great Robust, Professional Arm
MUCH better quality and bigger than my clanky (albeit £15) Neewer arm. The Neewer held up my SM7B but it just felt completely brittle. The arm was clearly cheap though functional. I was concerned about the Rode arm at first because I couldn't find any pictures of the actual clamp. I just assumed that the cone shaped thing was screwed into the desk and so I didn't consider this arm because of that. I took the gamble and sure enough that clamp is there and the desk option is a quality metal thing to insert into a drilled desk. The joins of this arm are very sturdy and they hold my heavy SM7B in place. I've heard only a few squeaks out of it. I've heard that it's a bad idea to oil, since might no longer take the weight of a heavy mic due to lack of friction. It swings in the clamp stand (the cone) freely and can rotate quite fast. I swung the mic into play to do some quick vocals and it nearly swung and hit my screen. My fault however. The quality of the straights on this arm are clearly thicker than my previous arm (which bent) and the arm is heavy overall. Whilst fitting the SM7B mic, I was concerned that there wasn't enough clearance to plug the XLR into the SM7B holder due to the chrome tighteners. I managed to get it in, but it's at a slight angle and putting lateral pressure on it. The arm has an option to put the actual wire inside the frame, but I've no idea how to do this unless I were to be electrically savvy and good with a soldering iron to take apart an XLR cable! Overall, really pleased. My 'studio' is maturing as I age. I'm proud of my mic and this arm is the icing on the cake.

A little pricey, but worth the cost
I ordered the Rode PSA1 to replace one of the cheaper boom arms, and while I was expecting an improvement, I'm impressed with just how much of an improvement the PSA1 actually is. In no particular order: - The (not-in-desk) mounting mechanism is robust, as is the microphone mount, and while there is a little bit of wobble when the boom arm is extended, it's no where near the amount of wobble my cheap boom arm generates. The Rode is positively solid in comparison. Movement range is 360 degrees, and manipulating the arm is easy. - The spring mechanism is internal rather than external, which gives it a nice clean look. This _is_ a weighted mechanism, so microphone assemblies of a certain weight are required (in this case, a shock mount was required to make my microphone heavy enough to keep the boom arm in place). - The build quality is excellent. The PSA1 is high quality construction. In terms of negatives, I don't have much to say. The arm is weighted so microphones under that weight won't work here, and it would be nice if the item weren't so expensive. Maybe an extra velcro tie would have been nice (four instead of three). However, unless you receive a faulty unit there's not much to complain about here. It's absolutely worth the premium over those cheaper boom arms and I'd recommend the Rode to anyone in a heartbeat.

Great quality choice for first studio arm
Easy to set up and attach to a desk. Very stable. The arm is sturdy, feels very solid and well made. It is quite heavy, so not so portable, if that matters. The springed arm moves super smoothly and silently when adjsting the position of your microphone and is very easy to rotate the angle. This is my first studio arm, upgrading from a desktop stand and I'm very pleased with this. I made a great choice, this will last me a long time and can be used with a heavier microphone such as Shure SM7B

Solid, good quality mic arm
Really good product. Bought a very cheap similar one previously which was very flimsy and broke. This one although a little more pricey has worked well and lasted many years. Very sturdy. Good attatchement to microphone. Really simple to clamp to the desk. Can position the arm into many positions easily. Highly recommend. I use mine with a blue yeti. And the provided cable loops are easy to fasten the cord along the arm to.
