This isn't a mesh liner. It's more like compression shorts. The liner is pretty soft and slick material.

Hello - my husband is 5’11, 195lbs and comfortably wears a Medium. He wears a 34” waist for jeans. He feels these run big compared to the size chart. We ordered a Large first and they were HUGE. With the info you provided, definitely order a Small!
