Beautifully explained - a real confidence builder for kids.
Really great maths guide. I use this with both my kids (one is 9 and one is 11). It takes you step by step through all the basic concepts of maths, starting simple and getting more and more complex (up to the end I primary school standard I guess). My son loves maths, he has a real interest in how numbers work, he likes to browse through and learn new ways of doing things. This book helps me to understand his homework, the methods used, and how best to support him.My daughter (8 years old) is the opposite. When faces with even a simple maths problem her brain freezes in panic. She needs to learn to relax, break the problem down into parts and the work through logically, checking a she goes. This book explains all this beautifully and is really easy to use. She has just started fractions, so we sat down with the book for a few minutes every day and worked through that section. It was wonderful to see her gain confidence and do really well, she worked hard and I am proud of her, but I know I would not have been able to help her without this book.

Purchase this Maths book - my 11 year old son loves it, and so do I
The book is very well laid out with easy-to-understand text and diagrams. My son is 11 and was struggling with maths - I even caught him crying because he didn't understand something, so we opened the book and found what he needed quickly via the index. He was so happy to finally 'get' something. It's a great book and even I as an adult have picked it up a few times to fill in my missing blanks of mathematical knowledge lol.

Ververy comprehensive guide to work through the whole of KS2 maths
The media could not be loaded. I needed a book with explanations about everything my child needs to know in maths and this is exactly that. This is an excellent guide for parents and a great way to get a better idea of what your child knows and what he doesn't. At a glance you get the general ideas on any particular topic and you can easily explain it to your children using the diagrams and flowcharts in the book. However I think someone who has a bit of apprehension on the subject might find the amount of jammed information in each page a bit overwhelming. This is the best book I have found for my needs, it has some examples of the theory in each subject and a couple of exercises to put in practice your understanding. If you need further help and more practice you will need to get your hands on an exercise book or some printouts and you might need further information found online. But if like me you need to get through the whole subject of maths and don't know where to start, this book will take you topic by topic in KS2 school years (years 3-7) (7 -11year olds children)

I would recommend such a book to teach autistic children in colleges
This book is stunning. Large format, about 300 pages in colour, clear illustration and proper explanations. You have to be hardworking to prepare such a book. Is it OK to say that in order to prepare such a marvellous and detailed book, you have to be a woman, as a regular man would not have the patience for this? I have seen about a hundred maths books, but I have not had a chance to see such a masterpiece. When I attended school, there was the rough and brutal approach to force your learning. I wish I had had such books as are prepared nowadays and especially this one. I would recommend such a book to teach autistic children in colleges. A picture tells more than a thousand words. This book has got an illustration to explain sth. on each page.

A must have for any parent
Bought this book to explain the different topics my son would be doing in year three and to give him help. However, I found it was explaining to me the different methods the school is teaching ( which I’m still unsure is right) and easier for him to find which is best suited to his learning style. The pages are colourful, broken down into steps for a particular sum, with text boxes explaining each step. This book with help right up to high school - very impressed. Would highly recommend.
