This unique piece belongs to the tradition of Tarot de Besançon— from the name of the French town where these kinds of cards were originally printed. Produced by Baptiste-Paul Grimaud between 1891 and 1899, this deck curiously substitutes the Arcana of the High Priestess and the Hierophant with the figures of Juno and Jupiter. Part of Lo Scarabeo's Anima Antiqua line, this limited edition and numbered reproduction is a must-have for tarot and history enthusiasts. Truly beautiful!
Very well made reproduction of the beautiful Tarot de Paris, 1890 circa. Beautiful colours, very warm background. The cards have same colour as per the main Amazon pics. My pictures came out somehow lighter.

I’ve been hoping that the 1890 Grimaud would finally get reprinted. My wish finally came true. It’s a great reproduction. This will quickly be out of print. I already bought 2 copies. 🙂

Daily Use Deck That Shuffles Fine
These are in fact coated with a matte finish and shuffle GREAT! I have shuffled this deck extensively and it still looks as new as the day I opened it. This is one of the most beautiful Marseilles decks I have seen so get it while you still can.

Parfaitement conforme à la description
Il est précisé dans l'annonce qu'il s'agit d'une version anglaise, pour autant les cartes sont bien en français (format d'origine de ce tarot) et le petit livret fourni est en plusieurs langues, dont le français. L'ensemble est de grande qualité, les couleurs sont superbes et la tenue en pain est très agréable. Ce jeu est vraiment très beau, fidèle aux photos. De plus il est numéroté ce qui confirme la série limitée à 3999 exemplaires. La livraison s'est parfaitement effectuée, avec un emballage soigné et un délai d'expédition respecté à la lettre. Très satisfait de cet achat, je recommande vivement ;-)

The deck in nice but a few extra facts would have been good to know
It is disappointing that for a limited editions that the plastic wrapping on the box had to be removed to find the card in side that tells you the number of the deck you have. not so good if you wanted to keep as a collectors item. It would have also been handy to know that and I quote what is written on the card "The Cards Have No Been Treated With Chemical Varnish And As A Result They Might Not Be Suitable For Shuffling" not so great if you planed to use the deck. Packaging needs to be better, a large thin bubble satchel did not protect the box which arrived with damaged and squashed corners On the plus side the cards themselves are shrink wrapped. The cards are narrower then a stand tarot deck but have the same height with rounded corners. This deck does come with a little booklet that talks about the deck and does not give card meanings. Within this deck the High Priestess has be replaces with Juno and the Hierophant with Jupiter.
