This is a very good H&T device
I am a software developer. I spent a lot of time reviewing different devices, interfaces and their specifications. I wrote software to manage this device, including RPC, Bluetooth and MQTT. I am also very experienced in the dynamics of environmental monitoring for residential and commercial buildings. In my opinion this is an excellent humidity and temperature monitor at a low cost for home automation. The interfaces are well documented, easy to work with and there are numerous open-source implementations and libraries available. If you are a non-developer or a home automation user, this device will monitor humidity and temperature and perform well. I have read comments regarding long times to report changes. Temperature and humidity do not change rapidly in normal residential or commercial environments. If you require fast change detection, you are designing for a problem this device is not intended for. This device reports on wakeup every six minutes. The reason is to save battery life. That is sufficient in normal environments. If you require fast response times, select a different type of device that is plugged into a power source and reports continuously. The device will need to support rapid temperature and humidity changes and those types of instruments are much more expensive. The big issue is accuracy when detecting changes. It does no good to use a cheap device that reports every 5 seconds if the changes are only +-20% accurate. Accuracy requires either time or money.

works via wifi
very helpful in monitoring the temperature at a nearby rental house. I can take a quick look on my app.

Bought six, returned six…
I had great hope for this device. On paper it looked perfect for my use case and I purchased six units. I returned all six after two units failed to operate on battery and a third was intermittent on battery. I did not have time to debug the problem. With that said, registering the device is not clean and simple, and I was able to mess it up, but once configured one unit seemed to work well. Note, to conserve battery power, these devices report temp and humidity once, then power down WiFi and wait for the temp or humidity to change before powering up WiFi and reporting the new values. So if temp or humidity change a lot, then battery life will be shorter. The ePaper display is a great idea if you need to directly see the measured temp and humidity vs checking the app. The app allows you to bias the measured temp and humidity readings, so you can sync the units to one another or another thermostat. This is a useful feature to compensate for normal variations between devices. Again, the device looked good on paper, but the battery issue was killer for me.

Set up is somewhat challenging.
Only complaint is somewhat confusing to get the unit onto wifi. Could use better instruction, or better Bluetooth connectivity.

Best of the remote wi-fi temp/humidity sensors I have tried.
I have tried several wi-fi temperature sensors to monitor the temperature(and humidity) in my house while I away for several months. This is by far the best of the lot. The others I tried(TempCube and Govee) always failed in one way or another. They would lose power and when they got power restored, would be basically dead to me : they would not reconnect to my internet at home, so there was no way for me to get data sent to my phone from the device. This Shelly H&T has not failed me yet - when power was lost in my town back at home and it came back on, the H&T Gen3 reconnected and started sending me data right away. Highly recommended and not very expensive. Don't want to sound like an advertisement, but, forget the rest this is by far the best.

Great display, great with home assistant
The e-ink display on this thing is great. If your primary use case is to have a thermometer/hygrometer/clock to look at, then this device is a great pickup. If you also want to have some historical data for a device like this, you will get it here. It can use the app itself, the “Shelly cloud” or easily connect to Home Assistant (though it does require a small manual step of telling it to push its data to HA”. Soon, this is supposedly supposed to get Matter support as well. Finally, I believe this device makes too strong of a compromise to save battery power. The device will push data at a maximum rate of every 5 minutes, but only if the temperature or humidity change by some threshold. If the temp/humidity does not change by enough, then it just will not push updates. The thresholds are 1 deg F and 2% RH. If you are wanting to use this to drive an adhoc thermostat, it is just not great unless your acceptable hysteresis is like 3-5 deg F. This device could easily become a 5+ star device if the update rate was configurable down to 10-30 seconds range. It will also be a great sign if this device does in fact get the Matter upgrade that is being teased/promised at this time. Update: I’m now using this device in a thermostat automation and it works great. I prefer devices with a zigbee or thread radio, but this thing is rock solid and works well with my rechargeable NiMH AA batteries.

Work Well. Long Battery Life, BUT - Difficult to set up
I chose this unit because it would connect DIRECTLY to my home automation via wifi (no secondary Z wave, Zigby, or Bluetooth LE networks.) Once the unit is properly configured it works very well - BUT - this is extremely difficult to do when it goes to sleep every 3 minutes. One mistake and the unit will go offline after 2 or 3 hours and you have to go back in and try to troubleshoot it - in 3 minute intervals! That can be VERY frustrating, as many of the negative reviews are stating. I get it that this is a power saving function - but there needs to be a button that will hold the unit in programming mode until the user finishes the setup. It would be SOOO MUCH EASIER! One nice feature, however, is the ability to calibrate the temperature any humidity readings. Once they are calibrated - the readings are vary stable and as accurate as you can make them. Again - in 3 minute intervals! Another great function is the E-ink display. It's a real power saver! I've had this running continuously for 6 months and my battery has not dropped below 92%.

I purchased this humidity and temperature controller as I wanted to have a remote control device to alter heater settings when required. When I received it I immediately realised that it was an excellent visual device too, as it uses the same screen technology used on the latest Kindle Scribe, which makes it easy to read the screen in poor light and very strong light, which the cheaper displays do not use and consequently are a pain to physically read. It also operates off batteries or a USB C connection, the latter being best if you are using it tom perform frequent control functions. It was also easy to set up with the Shelly app and gave accurate readings. All in all good value for the money.
