If you feel like you like this figure then buy him.
If you feel like you like this figure then buy him, it’s not bad, it’s not terribly good either, it’s small but it’s one of Blaster’s cassettes, so it’s a good size. Transformation is simple but what do you expect from a figure this size. Personally I like this figure.

The Legendary Brick Lion
Every so often, you see a new figure reveal, regardless of scope, or familiarity with the character, that makes you instantly decide it's not just wanted, but outright needed. On seeing what can only be described as the “Brick Lion”, I had to pre-order. = Robot Mode = + Very charming-to-me proportions. + I love how the mane is just a rectangle. + Him haþ leetle lion leggies! + Compact size. + Accessories are surprisingly robust by my measure. + One can mount the speaker on the back in place of the lion bits. + Given the legs can also be folded up, this means they exist in “Party Barge” mode during the summer. + While some may bemoan the lack of articulation, I find it charmingly adds to the brick-like appearance Meh: ~ None. Nay: - Even less than the above. They have negative nay to me. = Transformation = Is quick, simple, and painless going to and from either mode, even if I find the need to split the head in half a bit barbaric. = Alt Mode = Yay: + They fit inside of Blaster, and Twincast, the latter of which I bought specifically to go with Steeljaw, as they're who came with the original figure. + You can mount the speaker, or wing + tail bit to the hole. + Paint applications are present. + Even less space taken up by them. Meh: ~ No issues. Nay: - Nor nays. Verdict: Some may have issues with the size, lack of articulation, and price, even if now-discontinued, but for me, this is a figure that delights to the point it will live on my desk for as long as I do, regardless of season. Absolutely recommended.

Great Kitty Tape Bot! With Some "Issues"
So, it's about time we got more than the bare essential Eject or Rewind we have in the form of transparent recolors as pack-ins with Blaster and Twincast! This time as a stand alone release we got Steeljaw! I've been looking forward to this guy and he's honestly really good, but with a few issues. First, the good news is that he's pretty well proportioned in his lion mode. No weird thunder thighs with stick legs like Ravage and he's well filled out with his boxy mane structure around his head. His side guns are built in and he has the daintiest little kitty feet I've seen on a transformer. He does come with a backpack, however and due to his being designed to the current tape bot size, it partsforms...I don't really care myself but I know it rankles some fans. My only issues that I have with this guy isn't the backpack. I'm more concerned with the gold colored plastic the side guns are molded in. Transformers with gold metallic plastic have a rather poor track record when it comes to longevity. I fear that if the dreaded Gold Plastic Syndrome strikes this guy we're going to see some guns just crumble off in the next five to ten years. Same with his wings. My only other issues in descending importance are that his engineering makes it very difficult to put him in Blaster. See, there's these two tabs on his hips that in tape mode stick out just enough to push the tape compartment in Blaster out of shape which in turn causes the latch to sort of jam so his chest door won't swing open freely. What the designers were thinking is kinda beyond me. Also, for a Studio Series figure, I'm a little surprised at the lack of paint in some areas. Why are his lower legs not trimmed in grey? Why doesn't his mane not sport Autobot insignias on both sides? I'll guess his second tape mode spindle isn't painted because it's on unpaintable PVC, but for a $10 figure at this scale I'd expect a bit more paint detailing. That's not to say what IS painted isn't very well done but I think a few extra applications wouldn't have stretched the budget. Speaking of which, for this budget I feel Steeljaw should have come with both megaphone speakers for Blaster. I'd have preferred that to the second abbreviated backpack that the speaker plugs into so you can mount it on Steeljaws back... seriously, I'll never use it and aside form trying it once I'll guess most people will just chuck it in the parts bin and forget it too. In the end, it's a pretty good tape bot. I think it's better than the previous Ravage releases but not as good as the SS86 Rumble or Frenzy. I'm giving this a four out of five, because you can't give half stars otherwise it would be three and a half stars.

Tiny but awesome companion
Love this little Steeljaw! The design is super cool, transformation is quick and fun, and he looks great next to Studio Series Bumblebee. The metallic paint and lion mode details are amazing for such a small figure. Perfect addition for any Transformers fan!

Solid figure
This is such a great "mini bot". Goes really well with my Kingdom Blaster. Figure is well articulated and easy to transform from tape to bot. Fits inside Blaster tape deck well. I would love to see Rewind, Ramhorn, Grand Slam and Raindance.

Stelljaw
If you want to put him in studio series 86 blaster it wont work very well because the side guns are sticking out a little bit
