Did not buy this only rented....Already knew it was a great movie. Had no problems watching it

I fell in love with Poppy Montgomery watching “Unforgettable”. I was looking for more of her work, and stubbed my toe on this DVD. Harry Potter never really interested me, I had seen bits from the movies when it first came out, but it never caught my fire. After watching this depiction of J.K. Rolling’s life, I suddenly did take notice of Harry Potter. Like some of us, Rolling had to climb her ladder to fame and well deserved glory. I went out and purchased all of the movies and all of the books. So if you see a chubby 66 year old reading Harry Potter, that’s me!! A “good life” dvd. &, thanks mom!

The life of famed author of the Harry Potter books, Joanna K. Rowling, is an example of tenacity in the face of adversity. She never gave up on her dream of becoming a writer while having to surmont many obstacles to realize her ambition.Poppy Montgomery's portrayal of Rowling made the subject more attractive and charming.It is a small film as befitting a TV movie. Although based on an unauthorized biography of Rowling, it depicted her life in a sympathetic light. Enjoyable family entertainment.

I watched the movie and it was like I had before. It brought back memories...

As a writer myself, I wanted to watch this movie just because it had to do with another writer, but as the story played out it was a lesson in faith in oneself.Knowing you want to be something as J wanted to be from the time she was little, but not knowing is what WE all go through. Whether you're a writer, singer, artist or engineering. Our gifts are given to us when we're small, but as adults it is up to us to remember and find ourselves all the while dealing with the lemons life throws our way.Now in J's case not only did she make lemons with what was given to her (leaving her husband, going on aid and still trying to get a "decent") she put a little umph in it by still going after her dreams and not giving up.Most of all, I love that she stayed humble. She stayed with the one thing she always wanted to do... write.That is awesome and this movie was a great showcase of her life, struggles and a lesson to all of us. Don't give up. Use your gift and share it with the world.

This movie was originally broadcast on television but is now available on DVD. It is excellent--the acting, directing, locations, writing. Very clever how the movie shows the inspiration of parts of the story and characters--anyone familiar with either the Harry Potter books or movies will immediately recognize the significance and how Rowling translated the event in her life or imagination to the Harry Potter story. Rowling was destined to be a writer, it was a passion from childhood and to go from a single mother on welfare to one of the richest women in England in three years is truly inspirational for anyone who wonders if they should give up their dream for something more "practical." This would be a great gift for a Harry Potter fan or someone with a passion for writing. It also shows how unlikely it is for an unknown and unpublished writer to get the attention of a literary agent or publisher with an unsolicited manuscript and how critically important an agent is to getting even outstanding work published. I recommend it highly.

Couldn’t finish it lost interest

I didn't like the movie,I loved the movie. I put it where it belongs, with my other Harry Potter movies and Fantastic Beasts movies.
