one of the best purchases you can make if your tall
The Japanese floor mattress is honestly one of the best things I’ve ever slept on. I’m a big guy at 6’8 and it’s hard to find anything that don’t feel too soft or start sagging after a few nights. This mattress surprised me right away. It lays flat on the floor and gives just the right mix of firm and soft, so my back and neck feel way better in the morning. No more waking up all stiff or with that annoying pinch in my shoulders. The instrutions that come with it are simple and clear, even if you never used a floor bed before. It shows how to set it up and air it out so it stays fresh. Using the firm flat surface of your floor is key to making it work right, that’s what gives the mattress the support that helps heal your back and neck. If you follow the care tips, it’s gonna last a long time. Cleaning it is easy too, just air it outside or give it a light vacum. For someone my size, it holds up strong and doesn’t sink down or lose shape. The mattress comfort is amazing for back pain. The mattress feels firm enough to keep my spine straight but still soft enough to relax. After a week I could feel less tightness in my lower back and neck. The mattress also stays cool, which is nice since I get hot at night. For the price, the mattress is a perfect buy. It saves space, works best right on the floor, and honestly beats most regular beds I’ve tried. If you’re tall or have back and neck pain and want something easy to care for, the mattress is a great choice.

Perfect in a Pinch!
This worked great during a move while waiting for our regular bed to be delivered. Sleeping on this mattress for about 2 weeks with two adults and a dog made for slightly more cramped quarters. The mattress is soft and thick enough to be comfortable all night. The mattress didn't sleep too hot either. I didn't notice any smell when pulling it out of the package for the first time either. I purchased a queen sized mattress bag, and using a shop vac to seal the mattress back up helped get it small enough to put away nicely. The included straps were helpful for storage as well. For the price this is a good temporary mattress for our use case and will be helpful for guests as well! I'd highly recommend!

Six months later…we’re in love
Ive had this ‘futon’ for six months. I bought it with the intention of replacing it with a genuine japanese futon but so far its great. You cant roll it up so i fold it in half, set up pillows and make it into a make-shift couch. Sometimes i lay on it like that and take a nap. So its not easy storage its pretty hefty and not able to fold beyond in half. I do love it though, its comfortable and as someone who has had chronic back pain my whole life, this futon has me waking up with no pain. Every other mattress ive had i would wake up feeling worse, tight. I think having a completely flat, soft but firm surface allows my body to align, my back to actually release tension and idk but it works. Im somebody who used to choose to sleep on the floor if i was violently sick. My body would just crave a completely flat surface. It may be weird to some but i do think theres something to it and this futon is great. Its thick, and changing the cover is a fair trade off to sheets. Although i started adding more layers between me and the futon because im worried about my natural oils, whatevers on my skin seeping in over time causing a smell. I air it out often, use antibacterial fabric spray as well. I love it, its not everyone’s cup of tea but i was considering a fancy $$$$ mattress before learning about Japanese futons and im so glad i did. I also use tatami mats under it. I steam everything and let them air out all day every few weeks but you have to air out the futon daily by folding it or standing it up. I feel like its not as fresh or comfy if you dont. Its also great to have the extra space in my bedroom haha. I have a tiny apartment so being able to make this a frameless convertible couch is great. 1/6/26 edit: i traded her in march for a real bed. Ngl im happy to have a bed back BUT i do think i would’ve kept the futon if i had a bigger home. It would’ve been great for guests or as a sort of ‘day bed’ situation. Honestly its the kinda thing a kids (or adults?) playroom could've enjoyed for watching movies and just having a soft flat surface to enjoy. Buyer beware though…unless you’re giving off this vibe you will not want to invite any ‘special’ someones over to uh…share your futon haha. It survived its lifetime with me. Almost a full year so yay!

Comfortable and Decently Sized
Bought this to use as a guest mattress intending to store it in a spare closet. 10/10 on all fronts for my purposes. I’m a 150lbs, 5’10” man and found it perfectly sized. I ditched the microfiber cover that came with it because I read that it was prone to tears and I can’t stand the feel of microfiber anyways. Instead I ordered a cheap mattress protector (like the kind that protects from spills) and used that to cover it before throwing on a bedsheet. Works like a charm. The mattress took about a full 24 hours to completely fluff out, but once it did it’s been very comfortable. I’ve had it for a few months and periodically I’ve had to use it as my bed for weeks at a time and it’s been very comfortable and shown no serious signs of wear. Initially I was concerned because I have chronic back pain and even purchased a hybrid memory foam mattress for my “proper” bed years ago since bed comfort was very important to me. However I’ve had no problems after sleeping on this, finding it perfectly thick and easy on the spine. I’ve had guests sleep on it for a whole week and also said it was very comfortable for them. Even more comfortable than my pull out couch bed. The biggest downside is how difficult it is to roll it back up. My spouse, who is much weaker than myself, is unable to roll it up alone. But I find it fairly simple, if tedious, to compress, roll up, and clip and tighten the fasteners by myself, and I would consider myself to be of average size and strength. Regardless it does roll up tight enough to fit into a pretty small closet and still leave room for other things, just takes a bit of work. I think that extra effort should be expected for a mattress of this thickness, though, so it does not negatively impact my review. This is a million times better than an air mattress and I would absolutely recommend.

Excellent Value, Durable And Convenient
So I'm a 400 lb plus man and I've been sleeping on this floor mat for about close to a year now. This while having a golden retriever that does sleep on the bed every night and it has stayed in good condition. The biggest surprise to me was that it didn't deform permanently or anything like that though I did let it air out and follow the instructions carefully before I used it. As a heavy guy sleeping on a floor mat I will warn that it can be hard on the knees to get up and lay down every day like that but also has helped me get a bit stronger on my squat naturally. One of my favorite things about this bedding is how you can very easily flip it over on its side and vacuum under it as well as make sure that the carpet under it gets plenty of air. This prevents mold and I only do it maybe once every month or so though I'm not in a particularly wet climate. Comfort wise, not using a duvet or any extra padding it's surprisingly good. I think it has just about the right amount of thickness and softness while also staying rigid enough to not cause your back to bend at weird angles. Honestly I think once this mattress is when it's core so probably just buy another one since it's pretty cheap and you get quite a bang for your buck.

Super comfy and easy to store
I got this to use as a guest bed, but also roll it up out of the way when not in use. I needed to use it for a few days, found it very comfortable, on the floor, I'd say same comfort as my 8" memory foam mattress. However, this is super light, with built on straps with fastex buckles so I can roll it up and tuck it into the closet. So easy and versatile. Absolutely love it! Also, I didn't need to off gas it, which is important to me to have items hopefully less toxic than others that can be.

Highly recommend for those with back pain
This extra-thick Japanese floor mattress is amazing. I have chronic lower back, neck, shoulder pain, and sciatica, and it’s been the most comfortable sleep surface I’ve found. After over six months of use, I’m sleeping better than I have in a long time. It’s easy to clean with a mattress vacuum, though it is fairly heavy, so I wouldn’t recommend putting it away daily. I actually prefer sleeping on this over my bed now. It doesn’t eliminate all pain, but it’s far more comfortable than any mattress I’ve tried. Highly recommend.

Se le hace “bolas”, solo uso ocasional
Lo quisimos utilizar como colchón para dormir en piso regularmente, y se hace bolas, no tiene buen soporte. Es un producto para uso ocasional, pero en definitiva no para uso constante.
