Good book. Awful wrapping
Loved the book. Not impressed that it arrived damaged, as it was very badly “wrapped” - just a plastic posting bag which had ripped and left the book open to damage.

Lovely, just a little dated now
Great early Nigel Slater - you can see his distinctive style already - but it was written when he needed to devote a chapter to explaining coconut nut milk and other ingredients we use without even thinking in 2023. Very innovative for its time, a little dated now.

Spot on!
Great book! Nigel Slater's style is spot on - he lets good food speak for itself, no 'faffing about' and encourages readers to be inspired by his ideas and feel free to adapt. Just what busy people who enjoy the taste of good food are looking for! Thoroughly recommend!

Fantastic cookbook!
I have a huge collection of Nigel Slater's cookbooks and The 30-minute Cook is among the very best. Who wants to spend too much time in the kitchen when summer is upon us? Nigel's book gets food on our table in 30 minutes. Excellent!

Simple, useful, enjoyable
Nigel presents deceptively simple cooking recipes and ideas that result in excellent preparation and eating. If you find that his ideas and approach resonate with you this book will be a wonderful addition to your everyday choices in meal preparation. Elegance can be identified as reducing a process or object to pure functionality to purpose. This seems a fair definition of his writing on food. Excellent book.

Leicht zu kochen
Die Fotos sind schrecklicher 70er-Stil, aber die Rezepte sind leicht und glaubhaft - sie funktionieren tatsächlich beim ersten Mal. Nice!

Wouldn't buy Again
Believe that Slater's stuff is quite ordinary. Better recipes can be had online or from other structured offerings, French or Italian for example, that provide better techniques.
