My fav hiking shoes
I'm a Merrel fan. These are my 3rd pair and love them from casual to hiking shoes. They're comfortable, super resistant and waterproof.

Good hiking shoes
I have worn these shoes on several trails, and they are holding up and keeping my feet firmly on the ground. They do require a little breaking in if you are unaccustomed to firm shoes. I did have a little trouble slipping on steep dirt trails with almost no traction; however, I think spiked shoes would have been required to avoid those slightly unstable moments. These shoes held up through small streams or puddles, rocky terrain, mud, and trails full of roots. On my last trip, I wore these shoes through the airport and on the plane to avoid taking up space in my bag. This was the only time I felt comfortable leaving my shoes on for a plane ride.

It could be your ahoe
I found these shoes very comfortable for recent trip which required a lot of hiking. Lightweight. My only issue was the heal box was a little bit snug and they tended to have some slippage on metal grate type things. Otherwise like them.
