Tide PODS Free & Gentle Laundry Detergent is a top pick for families and anyone with sensitive skin, offering powerful cleaning in a convenient, hypoallergenic pod format. Tide PODS Free & Gentle stand out for their combination of strong cleaning power and a gentle, hypoallergenic formula. These pods are free of dyes and perfumes, making them ideal for families with sensitive skin or allergies. They're recognized by both the National Eczema Association and the National Psoriasis Foundation, which adds peace of mind for parents concerned about skin reactions. The 3-in-1 pods combine detergent, stain remover, and color protector, tackling tough stains (like grass or food spills) while keeping clothes soft and colors bright. They dissolve well in both hot and cold water, making them energy-efficient and easy to use in any washing machine. The pre-measured pods eliminate the mess and guesswork of liquid detergents, streamlining laundry for busy households. While pods don't allow for precise dosing or pre-treating stains, most users find their convenience and effectiveness outweigh these minor drawbacks. In testing and user reviews, Tide PODS Free & Gentle consistently deliver a deep clean without leaving residue or triggering skin irritation, making them a reliable, family-friendly choice.

There are many things to like about the Tide pods. I grew up with Tide because my father worked for P&G. In the past week, I have run several full loads [washer is extra large] with one Tide pod in each, and everything is coming out clean and soft. However, as a test today, I used a white cotton terry towel to clean the floor, door and corner walls where Matt the cat has decided to regularly visit instead of using his box. The towel ended up pretty filthy and discolored. The towel went in, untreated, with my regular, full load wash, and it came out with no stains whatsoever. Now I really am impressed. Other pluses for me are that my skin is very sensitive, and I hate having any smells in my clothing. I particularly like the pre-measurement of the pods because most of the time I use liquid in my HE washer, and many of the caps are not well marked. So I wonder whether I am over or under using. Also, the pods mean that I do not have to worry about how much my husband is using either. The only reservation I have is the cost. The 57 count package comes out to 33 cents a load [before tax], including a $1 coupon that Amazon is currently offering. However, the 77 count package on Amazon [again using the $1 coupon] is currently on sale so that the load cost is reduced to about 24 cents [pre-tax]. I like this product so well that I ordered more today. February 8, 2015: This is worth mentioning. My husband spilled cabernet wine in the family room, and we mopped it up with three 100% cotton towels. I figured the towels were done for and just bundled them up on the kitchen counter and left them there for four days, not even rinsed out. Today I threw the towels in the washer with a Tide Pod and Clorox concentrated bleach, hot water, cold rinse, with the intention of converting them to rags. To my utter amazement, all of the wine stains came out. Now I really am impressed.

I like that these aren't messy. However; the package is hard to handle and I had trouble getting the kid proof lid off. Also; for a name brand that is supposed to be superior to others, I used two pods for one load as suggested and it didn't clean the clothes any better than with the bargain laundry detergent I'd been using. Would get again if on sale which is why I got these to try them. Never used the pods before this. Didn't make the clothes smell nice either. Like free and clear though.

I was so happy when Tide started making pods in the unscented formula. Much of my family (including me) has extremely sensitive skin / allergies to things most people don't think about, laundry detergent that doesn't bother us is a big deal. When you ind something that works you stick with it and hope it's never discontinued. That's how we felt about the original Tide Free and Clear when it just came in powder or liquid, but now that the pods exist it's so much more convenient. (I was slightly worried since they are "3-1" there might be some additional irritated ingredient in the pods vs the regular detergent but that hasn't been a problems at all). There is so much less mess with the pods. No detergent spilled in the laundry room or sticky bottles of liquid detergent from a little dripping down the bottle when you pour it. We have a washer and dryer but we also take some things to the laundry mat (blankets, etc) from time to time. It's so easy to grab a couple of these and put them in a bag to take there, or even the whole container isn't that heavy. So much easier than dragging a bottle of detergent. I like this size both because I have to get laundry detergent less often and because of the container. Some of the smaller quantities come in a more bag like container. This closes well.. I have pets and while I don't keep the container where they can get to it, it makes me feel better that if I accidentally did it is somewhat secure because if they were eaten they are really toxic. (My pets couldn't get into it. It's not universally pet proof, definitely not child proof). I wish I'd had these in college.
