Two seasons of reliable use
I bought this unit in 2024 and have now run it through two full summers under heavy use. Since I'm currently getting gear ready for the upcoming season, it seemed like a good time to provide an update on how it has held up over the long term. Performance is where this unit stands out. I haven't used single-hose portables, but this is a step up from any window unit Iโve owned. It manages the heat load effectively and cools the space down much faster than expected. A few practical notes: -- Maintenance: In my experience, I haven't had to drain water at all except as a precaution before storing the unit for the off-season. Itโs been a low-maintenance setup. The only thing we ever need to do is clean the filter from time to time, which is very easy. -- Noise: The sound is a steady, predictable hum. Itโs audible, but itโs the kind of background noise that blends in after a few minutes. I am noise sensitive, and it's never been an issue for me. -- Build/Setup: The initial installation was straightforward. The window kit and components feel solid enough to endure regular use and have held up well. Getting this unit unboxed and installed was a lot easier than putting in the window units I used previously. I donโt use the remote, so I canโt speak to that, but as a standalone cooling unit, it has been a dependable workhorse. It does exactly what it was designed to do. Also, I should mention that I have reached out to Gasbye's customer service a couple of times (not for problems, but for help with technical questions and questions about accessories), and Amy, who handles their customer service, is amazing. She is very fast, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares. Based on my experience with this AC unit and my interactions with Amy, I would feel very comfortable buying from the Gasbye brand again.

Quiet and Very Cool!
We are enjoying the cool air and quiet operation of the Gasbye 10000 AC unit during these summer months to keep our living room comfortable. So far the unit is working as designed. The unit was relatively easy to install and we appreciated clear instructions as well as the included water drain hose. Also found the included air venting hose connections well thought out. The two hose system seems to be way better than our window AC unit in our bedroom and way less noisy. We also emailed and took advantage of Gasbye free extended 3 year warranty offer - little piece of mind. (3 years total form day of purchase) I also purchase an air vent insulating hose cover for the units heat exhaust hose to keep it from transferring heat back into the room. The exhaust hose can get warm when unit is under a continuous cool down load. Suggestions I mentioned in my email to the company for future units is to back light the entire control panel so the text and symbols are readable in the evening when room is darker. The โpower onโ button should remain lit continuously. The remote works alright and does have a lighted LED screen but could have a stronger signal. We have notice you mostly need to be standing in front of the unit for the remote signal to be received by the unit. It gets a bit sketchy if you are standing or sitting off to one side, although we have found a way to bounce the remote signal off the walls of the living room back to the unit which does work most of the time. Of course that would depend on your room configuration. We corresponded these suggestions to Gasbye and they were very receptive. Emailed me back and said they had been considering these improvements already. Seems like a very competent company to deal with, very refreshing. If you want cool, quiet AC then this is an excellent unit better than the name brands in my opinion.

Excellent... With Major Caveats
This is, so far, an excellent unit. With some major caveats. I am, sadly, a bit of a portable A/C connoisseur, having dealt with many different brands of nominal 14,000 BTU portable A/Cs over the past 4 years. I can confidently say that, in the Inverter mode, this is the quietest I've come across, and it isn't even remotely close. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the unit is whisper-quiet with a near-perfectly consistent white noise pitch when in the inverter operation. I cannot over-emphasize how quiet it is while still producing a nice stream of cold air in this mode. It also produced nearly no excess water (much more on this later) in this mode in my environment, making drainage unnecessary. The inverter mode, however, is not going to be nearly powerful enough for some people. That may not be a problem, though, because the "Turbo" regular mode has extraordinary cooling power. As compared with other units on the market... This Gasbye has significantly more real-world cooling power than the popular and well-regarded duel hose 14,000 BTU Whytner model; and maybe 3 or 4 fold (truly) the real-world cooling power of the 1 hose14,000 BTU Della model. The 14,000 BTU Humhold (also sold under multiple other brand names) seems to produce a similar force of similarly cold air. However, the 2024 version of that unit sold under the Domanki brand name had serious longevity issues. Additionally, that is a 1 hose unit, making the real room-cooling effectiveness of the Humhold slightly less than of this Gasbye unit due to the negative pressure a 1 hose model creates, pulling outside air in through walls, windows, door frames, and other crevices. This Gasbye unit also has FAR more cooling power than both a 12,000 BTU Amana unit and a 12,000 BTU Haier unit I have used over the past 4 years. So, what are the caveats? As I said, the inverter mode will not be powerful enough for some applications. And the full-throttle "Turbo" mode which is so awesome at cooling also produces an immense amount of water by-product. During continuous running, without cycling off, in +/- 75% relative humidity outdoors, in a large room in a well-sealed apartment, this consistently produced more than 20oz/hour (0.6L/hour) of water. If you're planning on using this unit continuously at maximum, you will, most likely, want to rig up some form of continuous drainage. Of course, many people will be using this unit somewhere in between the two extremes; but you should be aware this produces more water than any other portable A/C I've recently encountered. When in the full-blast "Turbo" mode, this unit is also no less noisy than the other units I've mentioned. Not more noisy, just not less. Finally, I want to mention something about the hose design. The outside air intake hose does not have a screen. This won't be a problem for some people, but for some people not installing this behind a window screen you will need to create a screen of your own to prevent tiny insects from flying into the unit. This is an easy enough do-it-at-home fix. But be aware this issue exists. Customer service is excellent and responsive. They reached out to ask how I liked the unit and, as promised, responded in less than 12 hours when I asked about the availability of a screen for the intake hose. The unit also comes with a 3 year, rather than 1 year, warranty, which is basically unheard of for a portable A/C. Overall, my first few weeks suggest this is an excellent unit with some caveats. For most (but not necessarily all) use cases, this is probably worth the price premium over less expensive models; and preferable to similarly priced units, as well.

Great Unit, with Caveats (6+ months of heavy use)
Long Story Short: Probably the highest value portable A/C unit on Amazon, with a couple minor drawbacks. Technology Connections on YouTube hasnโt reviewed this unit yet (as of writing), but I think most "A/C Experts" would prefer this design over most other portable A/C units. Long Story Long: We used this unit heavily (day/night) throughout a hot & humid Midwest summer. The windows in the room we needed to cool are really odd sizes, so we couldn't find a good window unit to fit. We had to buy a portable unit, but we wanted to make sure it was a dual hose unit for maximum efficiency (ideally with an inverter mode) - this unit checked those boxes. Honestly I was skeptical upfront because I saw all the great reviews here, but I ran it through a couple review checkers and that raised a slight red flag. Nonetheless, I bought the unit and I would do so again - as the title would imply, it works really well but with some caveats. Overall it deserves a solid 5 star rating because itโs the best on Amazon, but not because it is perfect. Pros: 1) Great customer service. One of the hoses I received didnโt fully snap into the window bracket, so they mailed me a replacement right away at no charge. 2) Pumps out lots of ice cold air 3) It's hard to quantity this exactly, but it seems to run efficiently. Functionally, the dual hose system works well, there is no negative pressure in the room, and the Inverter mode seems to operate as advertised, so it would seem that this is much more efficient than other portable AC setups. Caveats (not really โConsโ): 1) Another review said that the evaporation pan never overfilled - same here, but Gasbye recommends that you manually drain the unit every 12 hours to avoid mold. So, you need to make sure a hose and catch bin are setup for condensate, and it fills up quick which means constant emptying. None of this is the fault of this unit, thatโs just the nature of portable ACโs. The water has to go somewhere - either that, or have damp cold air. No joke, on particularly humid summer days, we were emptying a 1 gallon water jug 4-5x a day. You donโt want that water to just sit in the evaporation tray, itโll just add moisture to the air youโre trying to cool. 2) VERY IMPORTANT: You have to make sure to insulate the pipes - they are made of a really thin uninsulated plastic material. Again, thatโs not this unitโs fault, thatโs standard for portable units. But adding insulated sleeves boosts efficiency by a TON. There are pipe insulation sleeves available for sale here on Amazon - like I've said, it makes a huge difference for any portable AC unit. 3) Make sure you email Gasbye to setup the 3 year warranty. Cons: 1) Confirming what others have said about the temperature control - it is wildly inaccurate. We had two digital thermometers in the room, and confirmed that when the unit is set to 72ยฐ, it actually stays around 68ยฐ. And when itโs set to 73ยฐ, it hovers around 74.5ยฐ. A mild annoyance for sure, but not a dealbreaker beacuse you 2) The remote doesnโt work very well. Looking at other reviews, this seems to be quite common. Oh well, not a big deal. If Gasbye fixed these two (relatively insignificant) Cons, itโd be a perfect portable A/C. Sidenote: We havenโt paid close attention to the volume level since we donโt really care too much about that, but it isnโt obnoxiously loud.

Great unit with one design flaw (which can be fixed easily - see review). Amazing customer service.
Overall, We are very happy with this unit so far. It has only been in service for a week, but this week has been the hottest by far this year (mid 90s but humid with heat index over 110 for past 5 days.) The Good: 1. Customer service! When they say they provide excellent customer service, I would have to agree. I have e-mailed them numerous times trying to get my issue (will explain below) resolved, and they have been very responsive and helpful at every turn. A+ for communication. I did not have to deal with any exchange / return/ refund issues, so can not speak to those. 2. Cooling - Our unit (Coolprime10000 - 10K BTU unit) is oversized for our room which is only an 11 x 12ft bedroom, but it cools it quickly and then powers off as it should (now - see below.) 3. The filter is easy to remove and clean, which is a plus. We purchased the unit because we have bunnies that we just could not keep cool and the bunny fur is unbelievable and everywhere! I am easily able to keep the filter clean by removing it every couple of days and vacuuming it off. 4. I have not used the remote, but the controls on the unit are easy to understand and use after you read the manual. Was not intuitive (at least not to me - 3 second long hold) for the inverter and turbo mode. 5. It is not whisper quiet, but it definitely is not loud. It is a compressor after all. The "Bad" 1. This is where our problem came in. We set the unit at 77. It would consistently push the temp in the room to 69 degrees before powering off. This caused the unit to run excessively, thus pulling way more power than it should be. This is what I contacted customer service about. She gave me several suggestions to try. Ultimately, I was the one who figured out how to resolve the issue though. She sent me a photo of a different unit where the thermostat was located in a different location. On THIS unit, the thermostat is located directly above the hot air discharge line! Seriously? I'm not sure who thought (or didn't think) that one through. The air around the discharge line is much higher than anywhere else, and with the thermostat being located directly above it, the unit wasn't sensing the actual temperature in the room. We resolved it by placing tin foil (with small pool noodle spacers directly on the connection and slightly up the line) and laying tin foil over the top of it to reflect the heat back at the line and away from the unit. As soon as we did this, the unit now powers off when the room reaches 75 degrees instead of 69. Still not 100% accurate as the unit is set to maintain at 77, but I will definitely take it. (see video for demo) 2. The window kit. The kit that is provided to go in the window is thin plastic. The kit comes with two 20 inch pieces and one 10 inch piece. Our window is 43 inches, so the two 20 inch pieces was still too short, but using all 3 pieces made it feel unstable. It also does not seal for a hill of beans, even with the foam they give you. The hoses connect on the smooth side of the plastic panels, which causes the smooth side to face into the room and the adjustable side with the holes to face outward (were someone could potentially remove the screws and take it apart from the outside and gain entry into your house (not that knocking out a cheap plastic panel is hard to do anyway if they really wanted to.) We used a dremel to shave the adjustment rails so we could attach the hoses from the opposite side (smooth side facing out) and used pool noodles to create a frame to sit in the window and help seal it up. I also cut out insulation foam board to fit the panels to help insulate it and try and keep some of my cold air in the room. (photos below - again it looks a bit goofy, but it's functional.) I hope these two suggestions help anyone else having difficulty with their temperature control or window installation. I would buy this unit again as I don't think the window kit on ANY of these units are able to seal easily and well.

I'm very happy with this purchase!... (Updated review: even better than I initially thought!)
Update nearly 1 month after my first review... I've now had the Gasbye unit running for nearly 1 month, and couldn't be happier! This portable unit easily rivals typical window units in cooling ability and water evaporation (can't yet speak to electric efficiency, but seems good). For example, re: evaporation, I have not had to empty the water bucket yet, after nearly a full month of use, despite some recent very humid weather. For the sake of comparison, last night I had failed to check the water bucket for my bedroom's 10K btu portable Midea and it overflowed, after only a few days. I'm super happy with how well this thing cools too! Worth every penny!!! I came back for this update, because for a purchase this expensive, it is worth poring over reviews, both good and bad. I hope this helps someone................... I've only had this AC Unit running for 1 day and 1 night, (therefore I promise to come back if I change my mind). But so far, I'm very impressed! Being on the top floor of an old, poorly insulated building, having 10 ft ceilings, and an open floor plan, my apartment is very hard to cool. This AC is incredibly quiet, but fast and efficient. It cooled the place in about 1 hour! It was also easy to install. I'm no expert, but everything about it struck me as good quality, and Gasbye even provided plenty foam insulation, which I thought was a nice touch. This is my 3rd Portable AC unit, and from what I can tell so far, the best one by a mile.

Nice, solid unit!
This is a good unit. Our HVAC failed in the middle of summer, and I'm waiting to purchase a new unit until the prices drop in the fall. Used this in our office and used a fan to circulate air into the bedrooms. It very competently cooled about 600 sf of our 1000 sf house. It's easy to set up, quite quiet for a local AC unit, and eliminated condensation through the exhaust duct very efficiently. The remote is somewhat clunky, but it works. You will need two people to set it up because it's somewhat heavy. Make sure to route the exhaust hose out the top of any vertical arrangement you use because it gets quite warm and you don't want it to heat up the other hose that provides cooling for the compressor. Also, be careful when you extend the hoses because the ends can come off quite easily and are a pain to put back on. I would definitely buy this again: make sure you contact them for the extended warranty, but do not be afraid to grab one of these- they work admirably well!

Happy with My Investment!
I did a lot of research before deciding to go with the Gasbye portable AC. It was an investment, and I wanted to feel confident making the decision. I had been wanting to switch to a dual-hose system, and this unit fits the bill perfectly. I was able to install and set it up myself with no issues. It's sturdily built, and the design is well thought out (the air outlet louver even glides shut when not in use... very cool! [no pun intended]). There's a great deal of flexibility in configuring the control panel to fit your situation perfectly, including mode, fan speed, auto, and even a *turbo* mode. There's a remote included, but I haven't used it. I've been very impressed with the performance of this AC to easily cool an open floorplan area that includes a 15x20 living room, plus a dining area, 2 short hallways, and a galley kitchen. I compare that to the single-hose unit of another brand that I had before, which created a vacuum and struggled to cool this area even when set to max. The Gasbye is in a different league altogether from that, and I am sure it could handle an even larger space. Another welcome difference with this machine is that it's very quiet compared to my prior unit. The Gasbye, even with the fan on high, is at least 50% quieter, which my ears appreciate very much! I've used it in AC mode only and have seen no hint of any kind of water leakage. If any issues occur with use over a greater time, I will update this review, but given my experience so far, I highly recommend this unit without hesitation.
