Great kit, straightforward to implement
I'm somewhat handy, and I felt this was easy. If you've never DIY'd anything, my suggestion is to just have a friend come over to help or offer support. The kit works, and it works well. We filled up our entire large rain barrel in just one rainshower - previously we'd just let it capture whatever fell from the sky into its open mesh top, and it was rarely if ever holding meaningful amounts of water. I've been able to eliminate the need to pull the house hose over to the garden, and am saving on my water bill. The faucets are indeed plastic, but they are well designed and easy to operate. I prefer them over the previous plastic faucets on my barrel (replaced them with these). Tip: When you cut the downspout, please wear safety goggles. I didn't at first, and then I started noticing all the metal flakes flying off from the cutter, so I stopped and put them on. You will need them!

Water-saving Solution
Kit contains all parts needed to divert water from a gutter downspout to a rain barrel. An electric drill is required to complete the assembly and a container is needed to serve as the rain barrel (in our case, a 40 gallon plastic garbage can). Instructions were clear and the assembly process was relatively quick and easy. The genius of this product is that water is directed to the rain barrel until it is full, then water flow resumes to the downspout. There is also a spigot where you can attach a garden hose. Opening the spigot, we are able to channel water directly from the barrel to our water garden. Very pleased with this product!

Good kit with one issue
This is a great rain water collection kit. It comes with all you need (except for the barrel of course) to start collecting rain water. The installation was pretty easy and straight forward. Make sure you have a decent drill, patience and sturdy hands, since the hole saws can be tricky. The reason why I am giving this kit 4 stars is the faucet that comes with this kit. In a few words - it is really bad. There are a few things wrong with it: 1. The fact that it's made of plastic, 2. The two molded halves of the faucet are not properly aligned making the halves of the tread kinda shifted, 3. The way this faucet connects to the barrel. They provide a rubber gasket that you're supposed to push into the drilled hole and then you screw the faucet into that gasket. There is really no stopping point to screw in the faucet. It is so lose inside of that gasket that it just keeps turning as long as you apply a bit of force to it. So, my expectations of the faucet were correct - it started leaking from the gasket in at the point where it connects to the barrel. I will be buying a proper brass faucet and tightening it with a wrench to make sure there are no leaks.

What a fantastic way to set up a rain barrel
I wanted to set up a rain barrel so that once full, water would be redirected through the downspout and away from the house. We get a lot of water when it rains or thereโs a storm in Florida. I purchased a rain barrel that was solid plastic with a small screw off cap in the top. Was concerned about how to install the spigot and hose. This kit does it all. We quickly drilled the appropriate hole for the spigot, put in the rubber fitting, screwed ion apart he spigot and voila, done. Next we placed the rain barrel in some concrete blocks identified where we needed to drill the downspout and barrel, quickly did that, installed the fitting into the downspout and barrel, attached the hose and we were done. Easy as can be. The next day we had a pseudo tropical storm and by the following day the rain barrel was full. The only issue was I did not quite center the hole in the downspout so had some small leakage on the side, fixed that with some silicone. The rain barrel is full, no leaks and the spigot works well. When we got some more rain, it flowed through the downspout. This is a great product.

Absolutely Perfect!
This kit does exactly what one would expect - it collects rain water. It was extremely easy to install. The hole saws are sharp and make short work of the barrel and the gutter downspout. Drilling the ole was easy. I deburred it afterwards to remove any sharp burrs, and the inserts fit easily and perfectly. I did not use the faucet. It's copper colored, leading me to think, from the pictures, that it was copper. Instead it's a copper colored plastic. I felt installing it would only create more problems down stream, so I didn't use it. I did locate a blue 55 gallon plastic barrel for a collection vessel, and it filled up in one rain storm the other evening! The way the inlet is structured from the downspout to the barrel allows it to stop filling at the designated height, and any excess water continues to travel down the gutter and out the downspout, acting exactly as it would had the kit not been installed. I feel this is well worth the money. The directions were very clear and easy to follow. I have zero issues or complaints. My plants love the rain water and now I don't need to worry about running out! It also comes with a plug for winterizing the downspout and barrel once the cold weather sets in. I give it 5 stars.

Missing parts
The kit was missing a part that I had to go to a hardware store to purchase. The packaging was sealed so it must have been a factory oversight. Works good when it is assembled. Durable, fits good and saves on water usage.
