Very Nice Option for a kettle grill
Cast iron grill grates, adjustable grill grates and the hinged lid were the selling points for me on this grill. All of the positive reviews didn't hurt either. I originally bought this at a big box store that offered free assembly. Waited a week and they hadn't even shipped it. I cancelled the order and re-ordered it from Amazon. Amazon had it here the very next day in perfect condition! I would rate the assembly as easy. Although I didn't time it, I think it took about an hour to put it together without rushing. I did manage to strip one screw hole out on one of the legs trying to attach the bottom shelf. I misaligned it and kept driving the screw in (silly me). Just make sure you have those aligned right because there's not a lot of thread and the metal is soft. All of the small pieces are sealed in a hard plastic/cardboard so you shouldn't be missing any of those. I would recommend watching an assembly video on Youtube. Another review mentioned the grill grate being on the bottom of the package and it is. Knowing that, I opened the package from the bottom to inspect the grill grate first so I didn't have to unpack everything in case it was broken. I think the price is a little high, but then again the quality is there to support it. Knowing what I know now I'd buy it again.

Poor packaging
I’ve used it a couple times now, temperature control is awesome and you can’t beat the cast iron grits it comes with. The reason I give it 1 star is that for the price of the grill it shouldn’t come with a broken upper handle due to poor packaging. You have to assemble pretty much the whole grill , so it made no sense why the upper handle come attached and loosely at that. I don’t think it was a shipping issue. I probably should have returned it but I live in a rural area and that would have been more of hassle than just repairing it. Plus I got on multiple sites even Napoleon and was unable to find a replacement handle. Over all great grill for cooking easy to assemble as long as your not having to repair due to poor packaging.

Would do it again!
Assembly is easy if you own some tools. If you plan on using what comes in the box, that will be frustrating. The quality of the grill is great. I love the 3 tear cooking options + heavy duty cast iron grate. This is my first Napoleon Grill and first new charcoal grill in over 5 years. If I was looking for a ~22” charcoal grill tomorrow, I would purchase the 22PRO again.

Napoleon Avoids Waterloo With Pro Kettle 22
This is a very well made 22 inch diameter kettle grill with a really heavy cast iron cooking grate. At the outset I'll say (like other reviewers here) that the assembly instructions for this premium priced kettle grill are some of the worst that I have experienced in the decades that I have assembled products using assembly instructions. The Napoleon assembly instructions do not provide written directions, just pictures/drawings that show the parts to be assembled, how they go together, and the order of assembly. The pictures do not provide part numbers for each piece wihich makes it extremely hard to retrieve and correctly use the right fasteners and other hardware from the included hardware packet. At least a 1 star deduction for this. Now, on to the grill, itself.... The bowl and lid appear to be made from porcelain enamel coated sheet steel and the lid closes on the bowl to form a fairly good seam without major gaps due to a bad fit or warped, crooked, or misaligned parts. There are 4 supporting legs for the grill that appear to be made from stainless steel. These attach to the bowl of the grill by fitting each leg into black colored cast aluminum "feet" that are contoured to the shape of the underside of the bowl and then screwing the legs into the bowl from the inside of the bowl. Once attached to the bowl, the included wire shelf, and the wheels, the legs provide sturdy support for the grill. The 21.5 in diameter porcelain coated cast iron cooking grate offers plenty of cooking space, probably weighs btw 15-20 lbs., and can be set at 3 different cooking levels inside the bowl of the grill. The cooking grate has 2 stainless steel lift handles bolted to the grate that make lifting and moving it much easier. Still, T the weight of this cooking grate may present a challenge for some to swivel and raise or lower it to adjust its height for a cook or to remove it entirely for ash or other grill cleaning. The cooking grate also has "doors" on opposite sides that can be raised to allow access to the fire below The lower grill vent/damper is formed by screwing a flanged stainless steel ring piece onto the bottom of the bowl of the grill around a 5-6 inch diameter hole in the bottom of the bowl. After this ring piece is attached to the outside of the bottom of the bowl, the handled ash pan needs to be threaded onto the ring by aligning and inserting the 3 bolts attached to the ash pan into corresponding openings on the ring mounted to the bottom of the grill bowl. After the ash pan is properly seated on the ring (much harder to do than it sounds; hopefully easier with practice), the ash pan can be raised or lowered through sliding a lever arm on the flanged ring assembly. This vertical movement of the ash pan adjusts the amount of air flow into the hole at the bottom of the grill bowl. If the ash pan is fully raised its rim (almost) seals against the underside of the grill bowl. This is the closed position. In practice this vent/damper assembly works reasonably well to regulate the airflow to the fire in the grill bowl. Ash from the fire does cling to and build on the inside of the bowl but can easily be swept into the ash pan below. Charcoal and/or wood may be placed into an included low profile charcoal basket that that is placed at the bottom of the grill bowl on the lowest bracket support level. There is also a "vortex' stainless steel piece that is cone shaped and mounts to the bottom of the charcoal basket through 2 clips before placing the charcoal basket in the bottom of the grill bowl. It is very challenging to mount this vortex piece and keep it from falling off the charcoal basket. The vortex piece channels incoming airflow toward the center of the charcoal basket and probably amplifies the velocity of the airflow. Once a fire is started the grill heats very quickly but the cast iron cooking grate still needs time to fully heat. The cast iron grate does leave good sear marks on meats cooked in the grill....if that is important to you. The grill comes with a nice oversized (3 inch) Accuprobe temp. gauge. It seems pretty accurate but I haven't formally tested it. The lid damper is also made of stainless steel and is designed to prevent water from leaking through the damper into the inside of the grill. This damper also seals well to the lid of the grill. The grill got very hot (550+F) quickly once the charcoal fire got going in the 2 times I have used it. There may be a learning curve in working the upper and lower dampers to rein in the fire and temp for slow cooking/smoking. The 2 times I've used it so far have been 90+F sunny days and I was not slow cooking/smoking so I let the fire grow more before cutting it back with the dampers. Under those conditions the grill temp did not get below 375F according to the lid thermometer. This grill comes with a rotisserie ring pre-attached to it and a motor bracket that may be attached during assembly. I separately bought a rotisserie kit for the grill (and it fit with some adjustments). One of the times I used it was to cook a rotisserie chicken. The rotisserie setup worked well and produced an excellent and very moist chicken. See pic. In summary (yes, the novel finally ends now), this is a good quality kettle grill with well made parts, and terrible assembly instructions. The grill has been easy to use and I like the ash removal setup. I like the open hole lower damper system here better than the slotted hole system in the bowl bottom combined with sweeping damper arms like Weber and other kettle grills use. Once ash and food debris cake onto the bottom of these kettles or on their damper arms, they are less effective in regulating the air intake of the kettle....if you're not obsessed with a clean grill. About all for now.

Quality grill.
This is a step up from any of the name brand kettle grills that I've ever owned. The cast iron grill is a first and works great. The one drawback I've seen is that the legs are a little wobbly and need to be re-tightened from time to time. This grill also smokes really well. Takes a bit of practice and breaking it in to begin making masterful barbecue.

BEWARE of Napoleon grills! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.
If I could give zero stars it would be better. This grill came with a broken lid handle (May 14th) I immediately filed a claim and was told that it would be at least 2 weeks for a replacement - okay, I understand that. But when that time had come and passed, I had to reach out to them to find out what was going on. I was told the handles are back ordered and it will take upwards of 2 more weeks. Now, at the end of June I have had email threads about the delays and now I'm getting ghosted. I did receive an autoreply apologizing for the delay and 'understanding my frustration' - no you don't and you don't care. It will be 60 days I've owned your POS grill that is still in the box waiting for a replacement part that should have been overnighted to me in the first place. I researched Napoleon's warranty reviews and they are NOT good. Apparently they don't honor their warranty policy which tells me that they don't back their own product! I want to send this back so bad but it is over the 30 day window and now I'm forced into customizing the handle so I can grill. This is the second Napoleon I've owned - the first one rusted out (it is kept in the garage when not in use) after 3 years. NEVER AGAIN - Blackstone or Weber only from now on. Oh, and as a side note, their 866 service number - - I have called it a dozen times and have NEVER once had anyone answer it. I had to select the auto-call-back option, and they NEVER have called me back. NEVER. Go look up this stuff up, it's all out there about their terrible customer service
