how long this tool can be keep and still in function? how do I know the time it might lose its function?

        If you're asking how long the tools "shelf life" is, I don't have an exact answer, but what I can tell you is a lot of police and fire department around my area have them in their patrol cars and povs. a fact that is not very well known at all is In an emergency situation there is a glass breaker located in every car that is made now and not many people know that. Say you buy this tool and 10 years down the road is when you have to use it, and hypothetically the spring in the tool is worn out from being compressed for so long(this is the cool part) if you use said razor on the tool and cut the seat belt, turn around in your seat or reach back and remove your headrest(this is why they are removable). On the bottom of the headrest rods the ends are pointy, use that to shatter your window and escape.

Does it work underwater??

I have found it to be the most versatile life saving device.  I personally have not used it under water. It is always with me on my keychain.  I have cut through seatbelts like butter. To break a side window just place pin side against the glass closer to the edge/corner and swiftly push it forward to break the glass. It takes one push unlike a baton or baseball bat.  I have one in each car.

Would this device work effectively in sub zero (F) weather conditions?

I certainly hope so:  I live in Canada and the average temperature is below 0 for about five months per year.  The device is purely mechanical with no parts that would be affected by temperature.  So I see no reason why it wouldn't work in extreme cold.  On the other hand, I'm not about to destroy a car window to test it.
