This is the revised and updated edition of The Pussers Cook Book recipes Dits tidbits facts memoriesThe Pussers Cook Book contains many of the most popular and loved traditional dishes served in the Royal Navyโs Galleys from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s. Some of these dishes are being served on the ships and shore bases of today's modern navy, although some have been slightly altered and others given, let's say, more politically correct names. Woven between the recipes in this book are true facts and tidbits about the food, the cooks and general life aboard ship. Along with the recipes, this book aims to preserve a segment of British history, Royal Navy social history, which is fading all too quickly and would otherwise be lost in the grey sea-mists of oblivion. Review: Scran time - Takes me back to those halcyon days of unhealthy food at sea. Great dits and easy to follow recipes Review: Naval recipes - Good old fashioned navy grub. Often told my partner about the food we were severed in the RN, so bought this for her to try. She wasnโt keen on some of them but as yet hasnโt tried to make any of them, I live in hope, or might even give it a go myself, but Iโm an ex-steam stoker not a chef. Probably could make Kie but no steam drain to heat it up with.

Humorous
I bought this as a birthday present for my husband and he loves it. Full of naval humour and recipes that his father taught him.

Ihe Pussers Cook Book
I reviewed this book for my RNA Branch - despite printing an index the pages are not numbered certainly on the two copies I purchased. The book does not carry a proper price marking with the result that various suppliers offer the book at anything between ยฃ9.31 and over ยฃ15.00. This is relatively expensive for a paperback with quite limited recipes. I joined the RN in 1948 and have personally produced many a Pot Mess, the tinned variety, and in ships with Canteen Messing. As far as I can recall, in my time it was rarely prepared by the Cooks, they just cooked it. Canteen Messing. Good reading especially the comments re Dockyard Gate fine dining and the best Cornish pasties that you will ever eat. However, overall disappointing. Sorry.

Interesting and fun
As a Swedish seafarer I found it interesting and fun. It not for the political correct type of person.

Alright but I was expecting something a little bit thicker with more recipes as we use to cook a lot more than was shown
