Possibly the best motor racing autobiography ever.
I had seen some mixed reviews for this book but although expensive it was about 'my' period of personalities & motor racing so I 'pushed the boat out' & bought & I am so glad that I did. I seem to be throwing 5 stars around like confetti at the moment but without a doubt this is the best book covering this era which I have ever read (sorry Brian Redman). In the past I have complained about too much focus on this or that in similar autobiographies to the exclusion of other aspects of their lives but in 'Hobbo' I think that there is the perfect blend of personal life, professional life & strong opinions (both good & bad) on those he has encountered along the way, all of which are recounted with great humour. There are many, many great photographs reproduced on high quality paper but rather than pad out the narrative, in my opinion they add to it. Looks like a coffee table book but in my opinion is so much more. As you can probably guess I simply loved it.

Interesting book
Very enjoyable read, there wasn’t much this guy didn’t race. He raced all over the world in the 60s and 70s when it was proper racingVery much a family man & one of life’s achievers!

Excellent reminder of a great driver
Excellent reminder of a great driver. His long and bright career in USA may have been missed by some of us, so it's good to learn about it

Very good indeed !
This is a very well produced and profusely illustrated autobiography of a British racing driver who will be unknown to most. I was very surprised at the width and duration of Hobbo's career from F1 to Le Mans to Indy and beyond. Published price of £50 is a bit steep but it can be purchased for less and it is a very good read at the end of the day. Recommended

Enjoyable
If you are familiar with the TV Hobbs you'll feel like you're having a chat with him. Great book.

Hobbo, you are fantastic!
Having had the privledge to meet Davis Hobbs in the old garage building at Road America in 1970 after his practice/qualifying in the rain in his year old blue and puce green McClaren M8 (where he was as fast at the McClaren Team cars) along with Oscar Kovelesky, Jacky Stewart, Peter Revson, Jim Hall, et. al. was a memory this then teenager will never forget. I've followed Hobbs career (off and on) ever since through Can-AM, F5000, F1 and other series he raced in. I REALLY miss him on the current F! TV coverage as his comments were always insightful and often humorous (Kablammo!) Great book celebrating a true driving legend! Pictures bring back soooooo many memories.

excellent book
David Hobbs writing style is much like his TV commentary - smooth, easy and occasionally humorous. He doesn't portray himself as an all-time great, just as a versatile driver who had a long and fairly successful career. The photos are excellent, many apparently from his private collection. If you like racer biographies, this is a must-buy!

Sanitized and bland
Disappointing. The best thing is Sam Posey's tongue-in-cheek forward. Thereafter it is bland and sanitized recitation of facts - this from a driver known for his wit and repartee and irreverent personality. Who cares if he had a gearbox problem from some race in 1968? For a driver known for personality this is a dull, impersonal bio.

Tolle Biographie
Gut erzählt und schön zu lesen. Auch die Bildauswahl hat mir gut gefallen.Das ganze ist natürlich komplett in englischer Sprache.
