This is an excellent choice. You put the batteries in weight three minutes and it sets itself up without you doing hardly anything highly recommend it.

Unfortunately, the operations manual is hopelessly unreadable (non-English writer?). The pages have no numbers, so the user has no clear sequence to follow. One page says to use “AA” batteries, but the next page says “AAA”. A drawing of the LCD graphical display uses pointers to identify the names and locations of individual features (e.g., the text: “now” is on the screen at location “A4“ and is described as “Cumulative rainfall stage”), but the pointer’s index number is so amazingly small, it is only readable by use of a very strong magnifying glass. This forces the user to go back and forth between magnifying glass, screen display drawing, and intended function. In addition, there are many buttons on the back-side of the screen display. These black buttons are labeled with dark gray text above the buttons, leaving them almost inaccessible and nearly invisible. Control of the device is sometimes based on clumsy combinations of button pairs held down for 2 or 3 seconds, typically not committed to memory, frustrating the user to escalating levels. Finally, the LCD screen is filled with interesting numbers and graphics, but they are not explained as part of a working system (e.g., What is a “Cumulative RainFall Stage”, or “HIST/UP”, etc.). This renders the device useless, and we strongly suggest you avoid it. I returned mine and hope a better manual becomes available.

I bought this as a backup to my existing rain gauge. It works very well. Accurate as well. Both rain gauges read essentially the same. My only complaint is the outdoor thermometer reads much higher than the actual temperature. Sometimes as much as 15 degrees higher. But to be fair this may be a result of where I set it up. It is adjacent to my driveway and near a large pile of rocks. This is essentially a heat sink. But overall I am very happy with this.

Rain guage lets me know how much moisture we get. That way I don't have to water when we get enought moisture.

The first rain gauge I ordered from them went bad after 32 days. The module that registers the amount of rainfall just quit working. I contacted them and they helped troubleshoot the issue but nothing seemed to work. They quickly responded to me within 24 hours. After several emails they said that they would send me a new replacement within four or five days. 5 days later I received the new rain gauge. I am rating their customer service at five stars. If this rain gauge will give me good service for a few years or so I would rate it five stars also.

Works properly but the adjustment and settings buttons are on the back of the device instead of the front making it difficult to adjust time date other functions properly. You have to memorize where they are.

simple, accurate instrument

Well I purchased this on 3-29-2025, and it has already stopped registering rainfall. It worked ok in April, May and most of June but now has stopped. It's rained several times and nothing registered. I just went out with the water hose and watering wand and put water directly into the rain catcher and NOTHING registered. Disappointed that it did not last longer. I will wait for a few months and save up and but a Davis Weather Station. I know they last years and years.
