Set of 3 Japanese Tawashi Brushes for Cleaning Fruits & Vegetables & Other Household Cleaning

I bought these natural Japanese Tawashi brushes to scrub my Hasegawa and Aomori Hiba Japanese cutting boards. The box came fit with 3 brown colored brushes but still said 4 pieces with the “4” crossed out. Understandably so, since the agreed upon amount I ordered was 3 brushes. Upon first use I felt that these were not the most comfortable, but I witnessed firsthand how the brushes made the ease of cleaning so much better. To conclude, the Japanese cutting-board specific brushes’ ease of use helps me maintain my cutting boards properly and quicker than if I had not bought them.

I hate to scrub dishes and hate to have food stuck to my scrubbers after having to scrub them. Even cheese doesn't stick that much to this little guy and it doesn't give off a gross smell the way sponges can after using them for a while. I have been using mine every day for a couple of months now and it still works great. I ran it in the top part of my dishwasher to clean it and its in great shape. I bought one for each member of my family as an add-on Christmas gift even. I highly recommend this product.

This scrubber made of natural bristles works very well and lasted for six months. I only threw it out because the bristles wore away. it never got moldy of dirty. It lasts much longer than a dishwashing sponge and is made of totally natural materials. It doesn't put plastic into the environment. This traditional Japanese scrubber works way better than all the modern ones. The only caveat is that if your pots or pans are covered with big chunks of stuck on food, scrub them first with a coarse bristle scrubber. Oats and sticky foods like that will get stuck in the Tawashi.

Great product. I use it to clean my cast iron as well as any other dishes I may have. The only downside is that food can get stuck in the bristles, and it can be difficult to remove the food.

We have typically used the blue scotch brite sponges that we buy in bulk At Costco. We don't use the dishwasher for much so the sponges go through a beating. They usually start falling apart in about two weeks. You can only imagine my delight in the fact we've had these scrubbers for nearly two months, and we are still using the first one, with no massive signs of wear. At this rate I expect to get 6 months out of a single sponge. While they are more expensive than what they replaced, they're outlasting then quite handily, to the point that we are likely saving money with these. My only complaint is that I am unable to get to the bottom of some of our glasses with these as they really don't flex much at all. If I could find a slightly smaller brush, that would be phenomenal and ideal. I know they sell body sponge versions of these (I have to assume with much softer bristles). I love this style so much that I'm going to try and give those a try. Update. I just threw away my first one after over six months of using multiple times a day. Not only is this a solid performer, it's also an excellent value. I don't think I'll ever buy anything else. Picture shows the old brush (bottom) next to a brand new one.

love these and they lasted for years

These work really well and last for quite a while. They are durable and do an excellent job of cleaning vegetables. I also use a scrub brush on potatoes (probably unnecessary but I'm thorough).

I got one of these from the local Japanese grocery store and loved it, but I had no idea what it was called. I was happy to stumble across the name "tawashi" so that I could order them in bulk! They're fantastic kitchen brushes: firm enough to scour pans but gentle enough not to scrape them. Also, I was starting to feel really guilty about using plastic bristle brushes that are not recyclable. They get so scummy that you end up having to throw them away, and that's a big hunk of plastic going into a landfill somewhere. I can throw these away with a clear conscience because they're made of organic material and therefore biodegradable.

I really like the concept - but these little brushes 'shed' too much. The little bristles fall out and make a mess where they are stored, Waste of money - I threw them away
