Shark killed it!
Where to start? I have 4 dogs. Enough said. Cleaning my carpets is a pretty regular chore for me each month. I have always been loyal to one brand, mostly because said company supports rescue pets. And I tend to go through machines almost every other year. It has nothing to do with brand or quality, but because I use the Hell out of them. Enough about me, let get to the problem at hand. 12 year old boxer just started a new medicine. It's been rough getting his tummy to adjust. In one night we accumulated 9 vomit stains between my room and down tje hall. I got about 1/3 of just my room done before my trusty 3 year old machine just stopped. Amazon overnight to the rescue!! I never owned a Shark brand shampooer. Like I said, I was total brand snob. But this machine was 100 bucks less than replacing my old machine. The reviews looked good. And at the price point if 150, even it it only lasts me a year, I would be getting my money worth. Small confession, my need to shampoo all the time, had very little to do with all the dogs. It's me. I'm the problem. I like things clean. Some people (my close friends and family) may even say I'm a bit OCD. Back to this Shark. LOVE IT!! I almost hate to admit it, but I think this may be my new brand. I got the blue one without the built on attachments, because I have a small hand shampoo machine that I love. Pros: This machine is light weight. Easy to push/pull. I appreciate having the option to do a quick dry. Low profile so I can get under my nightstands. Thick brushes that seem to get a deep scrub, and not just surface spots. Like how there is no trigger to squeeze to dispense solution water. It's a simple push forward to spray and pull back to suck up the water. The solution that came with the cleaner did a great job and each stain only needed a couple passes. Taking apart the machine to clean the filter and brush was easy because everything is accessible. Now the cons: small tank. May not be a deal breaker for most. But I gotta be honest, this part was almost annoying. The clean water and the dirty water tank is about half the size of my old machine. I knew that when I purchased it, and thought as long as it does a great job, I'll get over it. Ugh, I'm sure I will in time. Between shampooing and having to full and dump 4 times, I'm pretty sure I got my steps in today. I ended up using the whole bottle that came with the machine. And that's fine, I just wasn't thinking about how small the tanks are. At least I now know, to order a big bottle because the 12oz only did my room and the hallway. Luckily my old dog seems to have adjusted to his meds, so he won't bankrupt me just from purchasing shampoo. Conclusion: This was my first go at using it and I'm impressed with how well it cleaned. As for how long it will last someone who cleans often, like me, time will tell.

LOVE IT!!
I researched a lot of different carpet cleaners. I've also had lots of different kinds of carpet cleaners over the years. I've had inexpensive all the way to top-of-the-line expensive. After watching many reviews of real-life experiences and reading a heck of a lot of reviews, I told my sweet husband this shark carpet cleaner is what I wanted. He bought it for me for Christmas. I vacuumed my carpet for quite some time, as one should before deep cleaning with a carpet cleaner machine, so there would not be any hair/fur/whatever and make the job that much more difficult for the carpet cleaner. Let me tell you, this big boy is POWERFUL and VERY efficient. Every other carpet cleaner I've had in the past had done a pretty good job but I always thought that too much water remained in the carpet, even after going over and over slowly with just suction. It would still take hours to dry. I thought that's just how these kinds of machines are, I guess. Well that is until this shark xpert. Not only does it clean very well, it uses far less water, and actually sucks it all back up so drying time is minimal. I was shocked the first time the dirty water tank signaled it was full (which it does by immediately stopping suction and the sound of the machine gets higher, like something is clogged) because there was so much water left in the clean water tank and yet there was so much water in the dirty water tank! It kind of blew my mind. The weight of the cleaner is far lighter than most cleaners I've had in the past, but not all. It's a little heavier than a standard shark vacuum. If you don't have a shark vacuum, then the closest I can give for comparison is a Hoover or a Bissell. I think both brands of vacuums are quite heavy, and they are also very loud. This cleaner might be slightly louder than a standard Hoover or Bissell, but that's it. My back was not achy after cleaning carpets all afternoon in my house, and I have to say that has not been my experience in the past with every other carpet cleaner I've owned. I'm not sure if the weight distribution is better or what but I was not even tired when I was done. Set up was a breeze since all you have to do is attach the handle and unwrap everything from the plastic bags, then it's ready to go. The dirty water tank is not awkward or unwieldy to take out or put back in, as many of my other cleaners have been. It was a very simple "reach down, press the latch to undo, take it out." That's it. It emptied easily into the toilet and came back together in one simple snap. I always rinse the tank before reattaching; I guess it just makes me feel better starting the next go with a clean tank. The clean water tank was also very easy to take off; you literally lift up the handle and the rest just comes right out. No leaking from either the dirty or clean water tanks when taken off, by the way. The clean water tank is very simple to fill and it's sturdy enough to sit on its own in the sink while you fill it up with hot water. I never, ever use the amount of cleaner suggested, by the way. Cleaning anything is mostly done by water alone, but the surfactants are what attract the dirt to the surface to be washed away. You simply do not need THAT much cleaner to do the job. If you use the amount theb company suggests on the tank, you will get residue in your carpet. It may not be a whole lot, but it will add up over the years and become harder and harder to clean and keep clean. I would suggest you only use a little less than a tablespoon of whatever cleaner you decide; it will absolutely get the job done and you won't have any residue after you're done. Remember, shark wants you to use more cleaner so you'll buy more cleaner. A little really does go a long way. And you can spot clean your carpet before you use your machine with a little rubbing alcohol. But don't put any rubbing alcohol in the tank. A little tip for you. The carpet cleaner is very easy to use, and no buttons or triggers to press/push the whole time, so no hand fatigue. It's as simple as "go forward, machine puts down water while suctioning, pull back to suck up water only." There is a little button on the machine you press if you want suction all the time only. That's a handy feature if you want to go over your freshly washed carpet to take out as much water as you can. It makes drying A LOT faster. All in all, I really, really love this carpet cleaner. Easy to use, evenly distributed weight, few buttons to push, gets the job done fabulously. Highly, highly recommend.

A little cleaning beast!
This light-weight carpet shampooer does a great job cleaning area rugs. It cleans like a champ, it's easy to maneuver, the tanks are easily removed and reattached, the cleaning head effortlessly disassembles for cleanup. It's light and small enough to carry in one handed upstairs and isn't a struggle to use. We have hardwood floors with three Persian-style rugs (knock-offs made in Belgium) that were last cleaned by our ancient Bissel shampooer. The little Shark picked up loads of old dirt and left the rugs looking bright and new. It also efficiently removed moisture from the rugs after shampooing, which reduced drying time (over night for us). The downside - This shampooer is NOT for vast, wall-to-wall cleaning. The tanks for cleaning solution and waste water are not large enought for big jobs. BUT, if you don't mind emptying and refilling the tanks frequently, this shampooer is a great deal. It also doesn't have any upholstry cleaning attachments. Note - use 'Shark cleaning concentrate' in the machine. I tried our old shampooer's cleaning solution and created a storm of soap bubbles. The Shark concentrate is formulated specially for their machine....it comes with a small sample bottle. If your home has pets, messy children, or sloppy old men in the house (like me), this shampooer is perfect for spot cleaning. It also might work best for condo owners, apartment renters, or on area rugs like ours. I'm generally very happy with the Shark shampooer and recommend it with the limitations noted above.

Definitely worth the price.
This is a really good carpet cleaner and the price is a good deal. I was amazed at the amount of nasty this one pulled out of my carpet and rugs. My old cleaner obviously left a lot behind but, this one did not leave anything behind and left everything looking like new. It releases the water and solution mixture evenly and in quick dry mode it pulls most of the wetness out and leaves the carpet a little damp. As for the things I would change if I could there are just a couple. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was that there were no attachments. Turns out there are no attachments because there is no place to attach them too. In other words, you can’t clean furniture or next to the baseboards and for that reason alone I wish I would have bought one that had an attachment port. But, if you are only needing it to use in carpet or area rugs then it’s great. My second complaint would be that it has a much smaller cleaning solution/water tank than I expected. I had to refill quite often. The dirty water tank and is a nice size but, still doesn’t hold very much at all. With those things being said, the compact design of this clean makes it very light weight and easy to use. So, all around it is a great deal.

Perfect shampooer
This shampooer is amazing, easy to use and powerful. Great job. I am very happy about this purchase and I recommend it to everyone who needs to deep clean carpets or area rugs. This is not an industrial shampooer based on the very small clean water tank. I don't mind it. This fits my needs.

This is a great machine!
I'm so happy with this carpet cleaner! It did an excellent job with my badly stained carpet. It is lightweight, easy to maneuver, easy to assemble and clean, and easy to use. I love being able to flip a switch and have it suction up water when pushing in both directions, rather than spewing out water/solution when moving forward. It really helps the carpet dry so much faster! I have one evil-acting cat, and I had one very sick dog that had a few accidents. This cleaner and included solution managed to remove all the stains and odors with only one cleaning, leaving the carpet looking clean and smelling fresh. It's been a good month or two now since cleaning, and the stains and odors have not returned. The cat is no longer allowed in the room, and sadly, the dog has passed away, so I hope that this old carpet will last me another few years. It's pretty old, but looks about half the age that it did before I cleaned it with this great machine!

Great cleaner, powerful suction
I've used this thing over a dozen times now in the short time I've had it and it works great! Yes I wish the dirty tank was bigger, I never understand why they don't make it to hold the same amount of water as the clean tank but everything else about this cleaner is awesome. The suction is powerful, I have Berber carpet and that makes it a little more difficult but this machine still manages to get enough of the water out of the carpet that I can walk on it in less than an hour. I do go over it several times, very slow, with just suction, but it's worth it when I can walk on it without getting my socks wet within 30 minutes. My dog tracked mud in the house, in every room, the night after I bought this, my house is over 1500 sq ft, and I was able to do the whole place in a very short time. It's not bulky, doesn't take up much room, and very light weight. I read so many reviews on so many different carpet cleaners, I used to have a Hoover that I loved, but for the price this one is perfect.

Detailed review
Bought this to refresh a room after house training new puppy, keeping it for occasional spills/small jobs. I will NOT use this on a large room or multiple spaces, simply not worth the hassel, will call a pro if needed (but thankfully don't have much carpet). Why call someone else? I'll tell you. While this cleaner does the job it doesn't make it easy. The clean and dirty reservoirs empty and fill extremely fast and at different rates. This means that after only cleaning a 5x5 spot you have to empty the dirty water (it shuts off, you have no choice) even though the reservoir is only half full, meanwhile you'll still have some clean water left. So after dumping and continuing another 5x2 section you'll have to stop once more to refill your clean water tank. Considering you'll want to make several passes over the same sections this makes for a tedious stop and go process. One 15x15 room took several hours to do 3 passes and around 8 tank dumps and 6 tank refills (each at different times so about 14x I had to stop, detach, rinse/fill, attach, resume). Ironically I chose this model because I had noticed this exact complaint on OTHER brands and thought I was avoiding it. This is my primary complaint. I like Shark. I have an upright shark vaccuum and a Shark robot vaccuum. I'm adding this one to the utility closet but will dread using it. Very easy to assemble, clean up, and store. Comes with a nice drip tray to store it on and a sample of cleaner concentrate. Be sure to vaccuum first to avoid clogging it up and give yourself plenty of time! Also add several hours of a dry time (and a fan) because even after using the power dry suction only mode I found it left the carper pretty wet.

IF YOU LIVE IN EUROPE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
DO NOT buy this carpet cleaner if you live in Europe. It is American with an American plug and with only 120 volts. - Europe is 220/240 volts. Its has 960 watts so most European transformers, inverters are for around 300 watts maximum unless you buy a very large one which costs anything up to about E900, and then it has to be able to accept the American plug. You would need a transformer to reduce the 220 volts down to 120 volts and is very expensive if you can find one. Having purchased this and spent about 6 hours trying to find a solution online it stated that if plugged into a European socket the machine could blow up or set on fire. It is only by accident that I looked at the side of the machine itself which is where I found this information. None of the above facts are stated on the European Amazon website. The cleaner itself is very well made and I would highly recommend if you live in America. If they made the same for Europe i.e. with a European plug and 220 volts I would definitely buy, but unfortunately I have had to return it for a full refund.
