Disappointed in the bate and switch. Listing specifies Geisha varietal (a high end varietal of coffee). But the bag states the varietal is typica. Update: They reached out and offered a full refund to make it right.

I had never had anything like this, so I decided to order this to give it a try. The packaging and labeling was very well done, however my optimism was dashed when I opened it as I did not find the scent pleasant. And even though I could smell the hint of cherries, there was an overwhelming unpleasant scent. I'm not. Really sure how to describe it other than maybe a fruit that was starting to get old in the refrigerator smell. I steeped a cup per the directions for ten minutes ,and while thankfully the taste was better than the scent, I simply could not finish drinking the cup. ( I did not add sweeteners or anything like that because I always like to try it .on its own first. ) I wish I could say that I would go to the next step of adding a sweetener to try, but honestly this just is not "my cup of tea" so that's not possible at this point. I'm giving it 2 stars because even though it did not work with my palate, I did find the packaging, sealing, and processing of the product to be in an alignment with industry expectations.

I have never tried a cascara tea before, but as a coffee drinker, was intrigued to give it a try. This is made from the husk/skin of the fruit of the coffee bean, however you wouldn't realize this drinking it as there is no coffee flavors present. Upon opening the bag for the first time, do not be perturbed, it has a dark almost cheap tobacco like scent. HOWEVER, the brewed tea tastes/smells nothing at all like the dried fruit. I chose to do a hot brew, steeped for several minuets in hot water with a tea ball. I found the tea to be quite good, a attractive golden color and felt fresh on the tongue. The taste is slightly honey sweet, balanced flavor, with mild floral scent. There is some caffeine present, similar potency to green tea. Feel free to research the health effect of the tea, but be sure not to confuse it with Cascara Sagrada which is a supplement derived from a bark. This tea is delicious and I think even someone who isn't generally a tea drinker will enjoy it. No need to add sugar or milk, tastes great on its own. Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to go brew myself another cup of cascara tea!
