The CHAUNVEN 3000mAh 18V Replacement Batteries surprised me with how well they perform, especially considering the price. They work seamlessly with my Makita tools and have held up well through regular use. Could Be Better • Runtime is good, but not as long as higher-capacity Makita originals (like 5.0Ah or 6.0Ah). • The battery indicator lights are not as accurate as the OEM ones — still helpful, just not perfect. I am a professional collision repair technician, and I run these batteries hard all day. Sometime much harder than they should be run in my big drill. They the abuse, work perfectly, last all day usually, and charge quick. The last pair I bought lasted me 3+ years and I've got a couple months on the new set and they're doing great. This is an incredible value. PRO TIP: They aren't always fully charged, even when the charger and the meters say they are. Leave them on the charger to trickle and they usually have more left in them.

They work fine, so at this price I'm not going to complain too much, but I was expecting that 3Ah batteries would be roughly the same size and weight as the OEM Makita BL1830 (so named to denote 18 Volts and 3.0 Amp-hours). These batteries are about half the weight and half the height, and marked "BL1815" on the bottom (which, is coincidentally the name of Makita's slimline 18 Volt 1.5 Amp-hour option). I don't think I'll ever know if the capacity is really 1.5 Amp-hours or 3.0 Amp-hours, but for 15 dollars per battery, I can't say I really care? Maybe I'll need to charge them a bit more frequently? They fit fine in my older Makita tools that don't accept the "Star" batteries, and drilled a dozen holes in square steel tubing without any problem. My only worry now is durability (both the number charging cycles they can handle, and physically whether the plastic case material will endure the bumps and drops that my OEM batteries did). So far they are a cheap upgrade from the 13 year old batteries that came with my oldest tools, which over time went from tireless workhorses, to only lasting 2 minutes between charges.

I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a non-name-brand battery, but this thing proved me wrong fast. Snapped right into my drill like it was made for it and held a charge longer than I expected. I’ve been swapping between two for heavy-duty projects and neither one has flinched. No overheating, no weird charging issues, just solid performance every time. It feels just as tough as the original Makita one, maybe even tougher, and it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. If you’re tired of babying your tools or getting gouged on name brands, this is the one to get. I’ll be grabbing another set before these vanish.

Holds charge. Very light

Definitely work as lower cost alternative to Makita batteries. Work great on our hammer drill and hold their power well enough. We are using them to drill in granite so it’s hard to say if they last as long, almost or less than compared to same size Makita battery but they seem to work quite well so far and also charge on our Makita charger.

These might fit Makita tools, but they don’t perform like real batteries. Power drops off quickly and they don’t seem to hold a charge nearly as long as advertised. Build quality feels cheap too. The casing and connections don’t inspire much confidence, and I wouldn’t trust these for anything important. You’re better off paying more for the real thing than dealing with inconsistent performance.

The battery life is good. Only charged once. Went 3 weeks. Just charged up and good for a while.
