Fit Perfect! Using Carhartt sizing instructions!
To begin with I did a lot of research on carhartt sizes, Carhartt size recommendations and Amazonโs sizing instructions. From my research and trying on a few pairโฆ..Carhartt runs a little larger than most brands, new firm duck will shrink a bit. Unwashed the overalls were a little larger and extra long. 5โ9 160-170lbs. 33โ-34โ waist in normal pants works for me Normal inseam 30โ. I ordered size large short ( 2 sizes larger than my normal waist per Carhartt ). The short is stated to be 29โ-30โ inseam. New unwashed, mine were around 32โ or more. I was worried there was no way I would be happy with the fit. Wondered if I should have ordered a medium short or if the legs on either size were just going to be too long. I washed them with a little detergent and fabric softener on sanitary setting ( Hot water ). Next tumbled dry on Hot with 5 tennis balls ( to help break in the firm duck ) for 1 hour. The bibs fit perfectly!!! Fabric is still stiff and can use some breaking in naturally by wearing, but couldnโt ask for a better fit. The length is perfect if you have a 30โ normal inseam and like the bottom of your pants leg to ride low but not touch the ground when wearing work boots. Enough room to wear a pair of pants underneath or long Johnโs. The straps could be shorter. I have them adjusted to be as short as possible in the elastic area of the strap. The strap slide / lock can be slid onto the duck material part of straps if they need to be shortened more. The straps can always be sewn shorter if need be. The firm duck is heavy duty. The bibs have more weight to them than normal pants ( obviously lol! ), but they are work bibs. A little weight for a product that should last many years. The cut, style, and color look good. The relaxed fit is on the baggy side. The zippered legs ( from ankle to thigh ) work great! Nice heavy duty zipper that looks like it will chew up mud and spit it out. Nice, easy to use snaps on zipper storm closure. The firm duck helps prevent cold wind from getting through the bibs. Iโve been wearing a thin base layer, hoodie, and the bibs. Iโve stayed warm. My findings with this purchase have been: Carhartt bibs run large, especially in length! Expect shrinkage. If you need to shrink themโฆ soak bibs in hot water, followed by tumble dry on med / high dryer setting. One more thing to add: The double knee material is designed to hold a Carhartt Knee pad insert. I did purchase the knee pads and installed them in my bibs. First off is the knee pad inserts by Carhartt are amazing. The only downside is there is nothing sewn internally between the 2 layers of duck material to hold the knee insert in place. It will slide all the way to the bottom of the double material on each leg. I tried mine for a week and they will work as is but to be perfect for me, the inserts need to stay permanently higher for comfort and function. I started with finding the perfect knee pad placement for comfort and function. I did want my knee insert to protect a little above my knee. The Carhartt knee inserts have a half moon cut out in the center, at the bottom. I used spyder wire braid ( fishing line ) and made a small stitch only through both pieces of the duck material, ( in the center of the half moon cutout) ensuring not to stitch or puncture the knee insert. The stitch holds the insert at the correct height and allows it to slide up if needed, but not down. Works great! That is my only gripe about the bibs. On Carharttโs site it shows gussets that hold the knee pad inserts. My bibs do NOT have the gussets and is why I had to improvise. Other reviews about the bibs and knee inserts state they also have / had issues with the knee pad inserts sliding to the bottom of the knee material pocket. Itโs an easy fix! Donโt let it steer you Away. The bibs and knee pads are awesome!! Just improvise a little! I hope this info helps others interested in purchasing a pair of firm duck Carhartt bibโs. Iโm definitely enjoying my Carhartt bibs!!!!!

These are high quality and great for tall guys
These are extremely high quality and very durable. They are not as stretchy as other models but are equally comfortable for either working or casual wear. The length was perfect for my 6'4 husband, maybe even a tiny bit on the longer side, which surprised us - we never find things that are even close to being 'too long' for him! But with boots or work shoes it will be just fine. Also water seems to wick right off of them. Overall: functionality: 10/10 Style: They are high quality and actually look quite nice as casual work wear or just casual wear for errands! Value: I'd say the price is fair considering how well they are made. I truly feel like my guy will get years out of them without tearing them up - and that is saying a lot, as he works outside and is rough on his clothes. He loves them and I feel like they are a great value, I highly recommend!

Order a size larger than belly and a size smaller than jeans inseam. Not much adjustment for straps.
Thank goodness for prime wardrobe. I was able to order 7 different sizes and try them on at home and pick the size I thought would shrink just the right amount. I have wore insulated Carhart bib overalls for 30 yrs so I had a fairly good idea of what I was getting into. It was just that this was my first pair of unlined non-insulated Carharts. I will confess that a local store went out of business a few years ago and I picked up a pair of Key insulated bib overalls cheap. I really liked how they unzipped down the center of the chest and the leg zippers went to the thigh which back then Carharts did not. So they were very fast and easy to take on and off with boots on. I did not like how the keys were insulated above the waist though. With a coat on I would really sweat above the waist. Carhart is the only brand that makes unlined bib overalls and they now zip to the top of the thigh which is perfect for taking on and off easily. Now I know how much Carharts shrink and since there are no stores within 50 miles for me to try them on I ordered 7 different sizes. I wear waist size 36 jeans and 32" length, but I have a belly that measures around 42". They are so large before they are washed that I didn't think any of them would fit. The 42"x32" fit too good so I knew they would be too small. The 44"x32" I thought was what I needed and then I remembered that Carharts have very little adjustment in the shoulder straps so thought they would always be tightened as tight as they could go and never have any adjustment. I chose to keep the size 44"x30" because I knew that I would at least be able to make them longer by loosening the straps. I sent the others back and proceeded to wash my new pair of Carharts and they are as close to the right size as I could have hoped. There is room for jeans and a sweatshirt underneath if I choose or they fit without a sweatshirt. I am happy with my choice.

Not what they used to be
Not true to size as they suggest nor sized based on the Amazon AI recommendation. Measure around the largest part of your abdominal area and subtract 2โ from the length on the inseam unless you enjoy walking on the pant legs. Very heavyweight and stiff, after several washes they loosen up a bit for comfort. The cheap zippers wonโt last long if used regularly. Side pockets on legs are worthless and too small to hold a phone of any modern size and anything in the top pockets or zippered pouch will quickly rub a hole in your chest. Adjustable straps are only adjustable for a 1/4 of their actual length. Would I buy them again? Already did but in one of each color for the simple reason they are heavy duty and will last longer than denim pants which are almost as outrageously priced as these.

Great overalls!
I bought these to slip on over my clothes when I get to the job site. I service boilers and some days the work is really dirty. My pant size is 38x34 so since I bought these to slip on over my clothes I purchased these in size 42x32. I purchased the shorter length because I wanted them to ride a little higher on my boots. From new they were way too big even with clothes on under them. I couldn't even adjust the galluses up enough to compensate. I washed them in warm water and dried them on medium heat and still to big. I then washed them in hot water and dried them on high heat and now they fit perfect with my clothes on under them. The length is just right, I can now adjust the galluses and I can still button both buttons on each side at the waist. I've worked in theses two or three times and I'm very happy with them. They will shrink some in the washer and dryer so order big like I did ( if you're going to wear clothes under them ) and don't panic because they will seem huge from new before washing. Also these are really tough and a well thought out design.

I like it! Good price.
I wear a size 38Wx32L in pants, but the overalls were a bit too big, even after the first wash. They did shrink a little, but not enough, so if you're the same size as me, I recommend a 38Wx30L so that after washing it , they'll fit you perfectly.

Great for work
I bought these for my son and they are worth the price. Carhartt can be very expensive but I found the price very reasonable. My son loves them and all the pockets for his tools. Sizing is true to size

Nice!
I am just under 5โ10โ, and I am around 145 pounds, I purchased a 30 X 34, because I like to wear a hoodie underneath and I like my pants a little bit long and for me these fit perfect. It is not worth the extra cost in my mind to purchase the washed version of these, because these being firm are stronger than the washed versions and will last you longer. I am a little disappointed in the shoulder strap hook ups as they are not all that strong and theyโre pretty cheap.
