Inrigorous, 3 x Black Digital Steel Fridge Freezer Thermometer with Temperature Display Monitor

Some of the reviews for these modules nearly put me off buying these! All three work fine for me and all read the same value, which is impressive considering the claimed specs. There might be an issue with battery life when you receive them as the modules are already running straight out of the box. So, depending on how long they have been in storage, the cells will be run down. This could explain the varied reviews. Also the display is set to update with a short interval, possibly 2 seconds or less this would shorten the battery life to some extent. I did open one of them and there does seem to be the option to change the update period, but have not found anyone playing with these on the web so have left them alone for now, they work!

Having seen numerous reviews saying that contrary to usual practice when batteries are ready fitted, these thermometers come without the pull-out plastic tabs so the batteries have been running down since they were fitted. In anticipation of this, I also bought a pack of 10 batteries. I checked the ready fitted batteries before fitting them to the measuring points, and found two gave 1.4v and the other 1.3v. The units themselves are fine, and the three in the box all showed the same temperature, and were within half a degree when checked against our other thermometers. They did exactly what I needed them to do, which was to check and adjust the running temperatures of a multizone heating system with underfloor downstairs and radiators upstairs. The units respond very quickly to temperature changes with clear easy to read displays. The unit with the 1.3v reading lasted 24 hours before switching off, at which point I changed batteries in all three units. Changing the batteries takes about 30 seconds, and the build quality is perfectly acceptable. I used cable ties to fix the sensors directly to the pipes, and mounted the display units on top of various control units in the control cabinet and can now see the input and output running temperatures at a glance. Even if they don't last for long, they've already earned their keep, and as they are so easy to use, I could easily move them to use elsewhere. They are not precision scientific instruments, but sufficiently accurate for my needs and much better than I expected for the price.

Great for balancing radiators, sensitive enough

Bought 3 of them since they are so cheap, and I was impressed... very accurate readings, very responsive, just great. HOWEVER Within a month or 2 all batteries needed replacement, and another month down the line out of the the 3: I have one giving me wrong random readings, another one which stopped functioning, and the 3rd one I lost... its probably broken and I'm not even bothered to look for it. there you go!

Excellent product

Having read the reviews about the initial battery life, the first thing I did was to replace the batteries that came with the thermometers. Next I fitted some small magnets to the back of the thermometers with double-sided tape and installed them on my freezer and fridge-freezer. I already had ordinary old thermometers inside (which were always getting hidden by items in the fridge and freezers), and these agreed with those figures. Very reassuring to be able to keep an eye on the temperatures without having to open any doors and find the thermometers, allowing the cold out and heat in.
