Excellent Quality - Great for New Artists
What a beautiful airbrush. I am new to this form of art and I have a heavy hand to be sure. This airbrush has all of the ability of a standard airbrush but with the added benefit of giving a series of settings to help give you a feel for how the airbrush should be positioned to achieve proper base coats, priming, details and more. Absolutely recommend this for beginners and seasoned airbushers alike.

Don't waste your time on lesser quality airbrushes. I learned my lesson the hard way.
I started airbrushing using a TimberTech kit off of Amazon. I loved it. I thought it worked great and was able to paint some cool stuff. I saw the videos talking about the more expensive brushes and thought to myself, "They can't be that much better." WRONG! There is not a subtle difference in the quality of the spray, there is a massive difference. Then you have preset spray patterns so no more guessing where to adjust the needle. If you're on the fence about upgrading the airbrush in your setup and you're looking at this one, I highly recommend it.

Perfect for beginners
Unbelievably excellent product! It enabled me able to use another cheap brush i picked up and thought a dud but was just letting paint clog all the time with poor trigger control

Great beginner airbrush
Started off with a cheap alternative and struggled. Decided to give this one a go after watching an online tutorial and it’s a huge improvement. The trigger stop is great for beginners. It prevents you from common beginner pitfalls like spraying too much paint for a given layer type. And it keeps the nozzle from clogging by not letting you dispense paint without air being pushed through. I understand this is a downside to more experienced painters, but it’s been very helpful for this beginner. It’s easy to disassemble and clean. And while it’s quite a bit more than the typical beginner airbrush, I found it very much worth the extra cost in terms of limiting my frustration — more time painting, less time troubleshooting.

Great for beginners, a bit annoying for experienced painters.
I've got a sorta decent airbrush collection, and I bought the ULTRA 2024 specifically to teach my son good trigger technique. I really like that it has the mechanism which enforces the proper "Air on, paint on, paint off, air off" sequence. I can see how the ring to do quick settings for priming, etc. can be pretty good for a beginner, especially before you've developed trigger control. That said, I'm well past that phase. While I can absolutely "get" why the ULTRA has the nozzle cap it has - it really can help a beginner avoid needle & nozzle damage - it's a royal pain in the rear for an experience user who is accustomed to using backflow to mix paint in-cup. Speaking of the cup: It's friction fit, and on one hand, I really like using it with the cup removed entirely. Without the cup, the brush holds a few drops of paint, and that's perfect for a lot of more detail-oriented jobs - there are many high-end detail brushes with tiny or no cup for the same reason. And when you need to paint more, it's easy to slide into place. The problem, for me, is that I've had a few spills, primarily when wiping out the cup in the way H&S recommends as the first step in cleaning. The cup 'hooks' in , so when you pull the napkin in the cup outwards, the cup comes with it - there's nothing else to keep it attached. There's still 4-5 mm of 'shaft' at the base of the cup filled with paint, and that is immediately dumped out, so a few drops of paint, cleaner, or both will leak all over. Ugh. Atomization is excellent, control is first-rate. I really like the way it sprays. In my case, I wonder if I've gotten a 'returned' ULTRA - it had a few easy-to-fix issues with parts that were loose or otherwise not adjusted correctly - like a beginner had been fiddling with it, but didn't know how to get it to spray right. Fortunately, I've had the experience to know what to do, and it sprays perfectly now.

Oh man...
New to airbrushing...my first brush was the cheap amazon one that came with the electric compressor. This worked well for me but the control of the spray was just too off. I did some research and wanted to give this guy a try and man was i not disappointed. This brush is great all around. Smooth spray action, WAY easier to clean than the cheaper brush. Having the adjustable collar for different spray patters is such a game changer. On top of the flawless operation of it, the finish on the metal is top tier. If you're thinking about picking one of these up, DO IT! You wont regret it!

DO NOT BUY, LOOKS PRETTY BUT YOU BETTER KNOW WHAT THINNER IT CAN USE
Hi Amazon, can I retract my review giving this airbrush five stars back in November 2024? Now, I wouldn't even give it a one point except that's the lowest you go. Ok, why? I placed my Harder & Steenbeck Airbrush Ultra in a plastic carrying case back after when I received it in October of 2024 in my closet. When I received it thou, I just tested the spray pattern using some Alclad thinner in the air cup to test the spray pattern. Before storing it thou, I made sure that it was clean and dry. I went in today (end of February 2025) to start spraying some model car parts. I started to break the system down to give it a quick clean before I started using it when I discovered that the nut holding the needle into the airbrush would NOT turn. I used all of my grip and finally got it off, but the needle would NOT budge! Also, when I went to depress the trigger, it would not budge, not even a millimeter! I knew that this airbrush was probably toast, so I used a small pair of vice grips on the end of the needle, and it finally came out. I was completely destroyed! Not by being bent, but by some chemical reaction eating away the material. When I examine the securing nut holding in the needle, I found that there was an "O" ring inside of it and it was rotted away. What in the hell caused this? I did some research on the web and one site on Bing states that you should NOT use the following thinners in this airbrush: Tamiya X-20; X-20A; Vallejo; Tamiya paints thinned with water or Tamiya thinners or Alclad. Seeing as how I'm building Tamiya 1:12 scale F-1 racing cars, I need to use almost exclusively Alclad or AK Interactive paints. What am I supposed to use for thinning these paints? I do know that most all Alclad's don't need thinning for they are lacquer based, but when I need to thin my collection of other paints, what thinners should I use? Please don't get me wrong, this is a brilliant piece of engineering (that's why I gave it a five-star review before), but why didn't they mention this problem? I still have my trusty Iwata TRN-1. So, I'll make sure that it is clean and continue on.

A brilliant airbrush for every skill level
This airbrush is fantastic. Especially if you are arthritic in your hands as I am. It is easy to hold and isn’t heavy or to light and is just right. Because of the settings collar you don’t struggle to find the right pull back of the trigger for different applications of paint, varnish or primer. It’s just there at the twist of the collar. The trigger top is broad enough to not have your finger slide off and light enough to need very little pressure in use. Again ideal for me having arthritis. I run this at 2 Bars or 25-28psi from a Hyundai 8 litre compressor through a 10 foot hose. It is very simple to clean and when you get the occasional tip dry that’s a simple 10 seconds fix because of the way the end cap is designed. Check out the H&S videos as they are full of simple tips and techniques to get the most out of your airbrush and paints.

Ottimo consiglio l’acquisto
